Hey, I really want this game but to make sure it would work I tried playing the classic version first. When I try to play it brings to to a Java Applet screen that says run or cancel the operation. If any one is having trouble finding the library folder they are talking about and you have Lion here is how to find it.

In case others are curious:

In Mac OS 10.7, Apple has made the user Library folder hidden. Preferences, presets, and other user customization settings are stored within this Library folder.

To access your user Library folder:

In the Finder, choose Go > Go To Folder.

In the Go To Folder dialog, type ~/Library

Click Go.

Mac sucks :/ it's what i have, and it doesn't work. I also haven't upgraded to Snow Leopard, because it's like 30 bucks, and it takes two weeks to get here because you can't just download it because that would be too easy and Apple hates their customers.

Pepole read this!!

Delete the bin folder to have a fresh minecraft.

Then delete the minecraft.jar.

Drag the 1.8 minecraft to the bin.

Run minecraft enjoy :)

Note: if you have the folder called "minecraft.jar" delete that!!

Did the same thing. After removing the old and putting in the new 1.8 jar file, I opened the game, got the new logo, got the panoramic view in the background, both created a new game and continued an old game.

Neither worked. I got to "Simulating game for a bit" and then the game screen went black. That's it.

And I completely re-installed minecraft, made sure Java is up-to-date, and I restarted my comp.

@Rilxoy I figured it out. In OSX 10.7 the user library is hidden by default. So you gotta type "chflags nohidden ~/Library/" into the terminal in order for the user library to show up, and the minecraft folder is in there. I was just looking at the library for the whole computer before.
