This is important because in the long run. It's easier to own 3 or 4 generation's of a Lexus model and trade up when doing it. I've done it. BMW owner's find it harder to keep affording the next model because of the bigger sticker price's and the huge cost's of option's that owner's have to buy. As a 3 time Lexus car owner. This video is true. I currently own a 2007 IS350 bone stock. Newer 335's do out launch and out 1.4 mile me. I still race them just because it's fun. More horsepower and torque though. I look at it this way. Lexus cheaper to buy cheaper to keep. BMW faster more expensive to keep, especially after the factory warranty expires. You might as well sell it. You'll take a bigger hit on the Re-sale with the BMW as well, not much but a factor when staying with same cars.

@jimbojims well youre right in this case with the 335i however in most turbod cars they dont make much torque until high rpms for example the wrx makes peak torque at 4800 where as the 335i makes it at 1400. So your claim of turbod cars isnt exactly correct but in this case with the 335i it is since it has 2 small turbos(1 mini and 1 small) and bmw engineering :)

Really this all comes down to what value in a car. The Lexus is going to be a more reliable and depending on where you you go, cheaper to fix if it does break but the handling and speed are going to be better in the BMW. Mind you the speed in either is going to be far more then decent. The Lexus is also cheaper be three grand to begin with and if you option both out completely the Lexus is 10 grand cheaper and comes with options the BMW doesn't. So really it all depends what you want.

So my cousin just got an is350 and we had some runs with my 335i. Let me tell you, the 335i pulled on the is350 at all speeds. My cuz wasn't really pissed because he knew the BMW would win. We switched cars and repeated the runs, again, no chance for the Lex. The beating was especially bad in the 60-100 range.

I have a lot of experience with both of these cars and I can tell u that stock for stock in a short run they are about even with the edge going to the IS350. Once you start modding the is350 has no shot.

Meh, put a 900$ JB3 tune and the 335i can compete with the IS-F. JB3 tunes add more boost and run the BMW 335i with about 400HP at the wheels. Look up some 1/4 mile times as well, they are running mid 12s. Good luck spending anything under 5k on the IS350 to match that performance.

BMW produces the 335i with no LSD nor large boost because if they did, it would defeat the purpose of buying an M3. The IS350 is no king.

actually no... once the 335i is chipped it will have trouble getting grip and keep spinning when launching. There is even greater chance the 335i will lose. I have seen 2 or 3 is350vs335i dragstrip videos where the 335i's are modded and still got beat by is350. once they got the grip it still wasn't fast enough to really overtake the IS. So not only is stock IS350 faster but also faster than the chipped 335i. you really need excellent driver in the bmw to barely win..

true if you're on the stock RE050 rubbers. i personally got rid of the RFTs. they hurt performance and ride quality. it's easy to launch with an auto too. torque brake to ~2K and just let it go. if you're chipped you need to short shift a little because the engine dies off around 6.5K. i personally never had trubs with an IS, stock or modded, but hey it really doesn't matter in the end. they're both pretty fuckin fast for their class.

Both of these cars run about 13.5 in the 1/4 mile and 0-60 in about 5 seconds. Read any magazine reviews of them stock...they are very similar in straight line performance.
