  • Damn I think you performed a very good video. I was very impressed with a lot of what you did in your video and that was by far my favorite Atari Lynx Review video created for Youtube.

  • @RENZDOGG Thanks Renz, you should see what I have coming along shortly, a whole new era of 3d cgi :o)

  • I'm going to buy one of these. Never did get to play one of these in the 90s.

  • It's funny the Lynx still gets more on time than the 3DS lol

  • @PaulBlakeman7 Hey, now the 3DS gets more on time than the Virtual Boy.

  • A while ago now I bought an Atari Lynx console second hand. It was meant to come with a power adapter but somehow it was lost in the shop. I bought new batteries for it but it will not turn on. I noticed that in your video yours didn't have any batteries but you used the cable instead and the Lynx still worked. Is such a cable necessary? Can you please tell me what I should do? Should I buy a cable? If no, can you please tell me where I can get it fixed? I will really appreciate it if you help.

  • Great review. It makes me wish i had one.

  • nice vid, but one minor criticism please turn up your voice volume

  • @FatBoyFilms109 Thanks, just uploading a video where hopefully I have that improved :o)

  • Best Lynx video I have seen yet on You Tube, congrats! You should join us all at Jagfest UK this year for a monster Lynx-Up!!!!

  • @LairdOfForsyth Thanks Liard :o) Jagfest?

  • @RetroGamerVX - Jagfest is the UK's biggest Atari show which also features other consoles from retro to modern. Every year we do a massive Lynx up and this years event is in St. Albans on 24-26th of September. There are threads about it in the Jaguar and events forum on Atari Age.

  • I love the Atari Lynx. But because so few consoles/handhelds were designed with left handed people in mind the majority of leftys (including myself) play right handed. lol always nice to have choices though. Great review

  • @largosmaximus Lol largo, I never actually thought of that :o)

  • hehe, what fun editing. I always wanted one of these but was never able to get my hands on one.

  • @blacklily8 Thanks black, there are loads on ebay and they ain't too pricey either :o)

  • @StuartdotC Heathen!! lol. I've only played the two games on it, but I do find the graphics to be excellent (for the time) and very comfortable to use :o)

  • Great review. I wanted one when it came out, but could never afford it, I think I remember one Christmas having the choice between the Lynx or a new Atari ST, I went with the computer! I never wanted or owned a Gameboy. I ended up with a Sega Game Gear, always wanted a Lynx though. May get myself one now!

  • @LuckyLuxy Yes, given that choice at the time, I would have gone with the same option lol. Yes, they are cheap enough now :o0

  • Great video retrogamer. At the end you said Do yourself a favour and get one. Made me laugh cos that was actually Segas catchphrase "Do yourself a favour...plug yourself into a Sega"... :0)

  • @Tudave Lol, thanks dave, I was not even aware of that lolol

  • awesome review dude.

i've never played on a atari lynx but allways wanted to. it failed for the same reasons the game gear did to big and use up batters to quick. i have a game gear and your spot on the screen is rubbish on them on mine i have to tilt it at the right angle to even see somethink but at laest there and the lynx cheep to get : )

    again great review buddy

  • @davidhass3lh0ff you can get that fixed you know, it's a capacitor problem, a guy on ebay repairs them for £11 labour :o)

  • @RetroGamerVX wow i dident know that cool i will check out that guy on ebay and get my game gear working right thank's man

  • great review, i wish they didnt go for so much on ebay, im sure i will get one soon, nice vid.

  • @the1980gamer I was really bloody lucky, I picked mine up for £13 with a couple of quid postage, must get me a number one. Really good games, awsome machine :o). I take mine to work and it's difficult getting it out of other people's hands, they love this machine :o)

  • @misterintellivision Luckily Mi, I've never had the pleasure of getting flatties out of 1, don't own a 1 and don't own any flatties lol. Yes, this is definatly my favourite handheld of the time, very advanced, great games, comfortable to use with a great screen :o)

  • @thegoldenhealer Thanks golden, by the time I'd finished editing this, I had a very sore wrist from using the trackball lol :o)

  • @TheAtariJunkie Thanks Atari, go get one, NOW!!!!! lolol :o)

  • @xTHExSTIGx Aha, neither of them have the nostalgia value so I'm playing both with fresh eyes :o)

  • Nice review,i really like the lynx.

Your screen looks crystal clear o.O

  • @amurphy245 It is, it had a few minor scratches, but I polished it with wd40 and they all but dissapeared :o)

  • man i love your videos =)

  • @totte95a Thanks totte :o)

  • Do you need to have a game in the console to start the Lynx itself

  • @GamingWithStatoke Yes, without a cartridge, you just get a blank screen :o)

  • Got a nice 'boxed' model 2 myself with quite a good number of games. Running it of the mains is indeed the only sensible way to use the system. It goes through those double AA's like a berserker.

  • @markvergeer Yes, it's a great machine :o). It's one of my favourites to get out when I am drinking :o)

  • Excellent video Steve. Another huge part of the Lynx failing was the fact that the Gameboy had a singular game on it that the Lynx was left without: TETRIS. The power of that game should not be underestimated as it was huge back in the day.

  • @markvergeer Aha, had not thought of that mark, good point :o)

  • Excellent review man, it's good to see somjebody NOT slagging the Lynx off!!

I got my first one in a trade from RetroGamer forums a few month ago and love it to bits (I was always Nintys bitch when it came to handhelds).

Really enjoying the production on your latest videos - are you using a green screen? Or is there some software i've missed out on :D

  • @bsg7 Nope, I do really love the lynx. Powerful graphics, comfortable to hold, great games, what more could you ask for (just run it on the mains lol)

  • you needed deep pockets for a lynx both to buy it, to hold all those batteries, and to put the lynx in. I would say the Turbo Express and Nomad could outdo a Lynx but they came later and chewed batteries up even faster lol.

and I am liking your effects in your video :) the extra effort is nice to see thank you sir

    Aberran

  • @AxiomofDiscord Thanks very much axiom, yes at the time, it was expensive, no such excuse these days :o)

  • @RetroGamerVX I am happy emulating it on a laptop or netbook even if the emulator could use some fullscreen stretching support. Even though the battery on my lappy doesnt even hold up to a lynx ... I know so sad.

  • @AxiomofDiscord Yes, amazing how, all these years later, the batteries are even worse, you would have thought that laptop batteries would have come on in leaps and bounds by now :o(

  • Great video... and your editing skills are coming along in leaps and bounds. I really chuckled when you appeared on the Lynx screen. Nice work :D

I totally recommend tracking down Warbirds for your Lynx. It's a great WW1 biplane dogfighting game, not entirely unlike Knights of the Sky on the Amiga.

Checkered Flag is a great racing game too, with nice speedy sprite scaling.

  • @SteveBenway Lol, thanks evil twin :o) For months, I only had rygar on it, enjoying stun runner on it, nice to hear vocals on a machine from this era :o)

  • artari lynx 2 is better

  • @Saltydko Yes, than the 1 :o)

  • Another great review Steve! I remember one of my best friends having an Atari Lynx and really loving it and he would normally brag to us that the Lynx was better than the Game Boy and the Game Gear. Now he has all three and likes the Lynx the least! Looks great all the same, I'd like to get one of these, it'll build up the collection nicely!

  • @Otouto72 He's a dam heathen lololol ;o) Yes, I think they are great, after a few drinks, I love to fire it up :o)

  • Im destined never to own a Lynx - the last one I bought got smashed in the post :( Got Lynx roms on my PSP though :) Nice review.

  • @P5ychoFox I'm lucky this one did not get smashed in the post, the bugger only wrapped it in brown paper and bubble wrap!!! (infact the unboxing video for it is on my channel here :o) )

  • @doctorwhokris1980 I've only got stun runner and rygar :o(
