This car was produced in the way you see it because of the fact that Standard/Triumph, a customer of Fisher Ludlow, for body shells, since the 1930's, were sent away with a flea in their ear, by Sir Leonard Lord, chairman of BMC who had aquired Fisher & Lludlow. He refused to build body shells for Triumph and reputedly told Alick Dick, Managing Director of Standard Triumph, at a meeting, to push off. Alan had to find other ways of construting a car. The result is what we see today.
