In the mid of the 70's Russel sung he bought the Mississippi River (of course that don't include the towns or the ppl 'round the Mississippi'!) :D Well, it seems BBC is in his hands as well... Wot a rich guy! :DD
Great song, though rumour has it, that this upset some of the powers to be at the BBC which was the real reason behind banning Sparks later release 'Dick Around'.
in this Ocean Liner all archives of BBC including the 78 records of Sir Harry Lauder to Bowie,Elton,T.Rex originals transported to SouthAfrica..a friendly German U-Boot is securing the operation----wunder video
Ron acting like he's whistling the flute bit...priceless. Also, Russell is gorgeous in this vid. I'm not so sure about the wierdly synchronized dancing cut-outs, though,
@spacyfreak what's so bad about them, apart from not being remembered by the general public other than "This Town", "Beat The Clock", and "Amateur Hour"?
@ffm20zaheri Have a look at PSB's 1994 videos (which are composed of repetitive dance movements in a similar computer-generated environment). Search for "I Woldn't Normally Do This Kind of Thing", "Go West", and to a lesser extent, "Can You Forgive Her?" and "Liberation". Watching this in 1995 would have directly brought those videos to mind.
@ Dwilmer7 Sparks has mayd many albom. Rock POP tecno Classic Mix. Great grup. Best songs are. DIck Around. ROCK ROCK ROCK, album like hello young lover. and lil betowen. and the new.. Great great music

I love their lyrical brilliance, their total lack of pretentiousness, and their unceaseless energy.
This is exactly what popular music should be.

Did pet shop boys gratuitously rip these guys off?? Id never even heard of sparks until 3 days ago.
dwilmer7 2 years ago
Check out "I Hear Charlie Parker" that's a pretty outright parody of the Pet Shop Boys.
eileenh28 2 years ago
please explain me why it is a pet shop boys parody ?
i mean the song sounds exactly like a pet shop boys song but why parody ?
thank you
