I can't say anything about SLI but from personal experience this game doesn't support crossfire. I lose 5 fps on average running two HD 4890's with a Phenom II x4 965 @ 3.7GHz. I have heard about people gaining a frame or two with it enabled though.

Some 4890's have that. What I am told is it is a capacitor on the board. Do I believe that? Not sure. I've heard it from mine (Diamond... ) but only when running benchmarks and only for about half a second when it goes from loading to testing. Overall, I wouldn't stress it unless it really bugs you. Then RMA might work.

The difference is, when it comes down to PC gaming, get one 4890 and use it for like... 3 years and by then 4890's would be 10 bucks and get another one SLI and walla, your still beating colsole graphics.

But for me, its not about the graphics. It's about keeping a mid-high end pc/gaming pc to keep useing for ever.

Some people turn around and purchase a gay Celeron Dual Core PC from PCWorld for like £400 then on top pay £300 for a console.

i suppose you are right but in my country pc graphic cards especially for gaming are too expensive than the us, well about procesors i think now it's intersting buying an i5, i7 or the upcoming i9 you can have that PC for about 5 years and keep maintaning gaming performance i dont know

Maybe so, Xbox 360's are like $50 used. So you can get one of them, chip it so it plays copy games then download the games yourself.

I have a xbox 260 myself, but I never use it. Only when friends come around and want to play 2 player or somthing. :)

As I said, in my opinion, controller is only good for me in racing and sports games. :)

The new 5870 is supposed to be 1.5 times faster than the GTX 295, which is a dual card. the 5870 is a single card.

It should be around 399$ and the 5850 should be near 299$

to be honest, actually gta iv DOESN'T support more than 1 GPU so actually you're playing with 1 4890 while the other in on and uses power and creates heat, the ppl who bought the 4870x2 or the gtx295 or such dual gpu solution graphics card only get the half performance, which is VERY disappointing, it also make ppl think that this game needs a rly good system to run, but rly not, 1x gtx 285 is the current best card for this game.

i guess one HD4890 is enough if u have 6gb of ram and intel i7...you cant use both graphic cards for 2 reasons:

1) no cpu (even i7) cant work with the potential of 2 cards 4890s...its just not possible

2)anyways,no game of the world will use both of them at their max(processor cant and the gaes wont use them both at their max) thats why one is fair enough and even then...the graphic card might not be use as a whole 100% pure performance...even i7 may use one of these...probably cant handle both.

Its really sad that such a gaming sistem with 2 extremly strong gfx cards can barely run this game over 40 fps. Its a MAJOR SCREW UP from rockstars side...GTA4 should be atleast 2 times faster than it is atm considering how it looks. I mean, it looks good...but come on, compared to Crysis in DX10 with everything maxed out, its a joke. And i bet this sistem can run Crysis with everything maxed out on 60+ fps.

Wait for HD58xx cards this summer. The HD5870 is 50% faster than a HD4870. 4890s and 4870s will surely come down in price. Hope that helps.

Their is nothing official for 5000 series mate, dx11 demo's were only just made, dx11 will be Q4 like you said.

We may see 40nm chips in 4900's this summer... 5800's late Q4, and dx11 games will release Q1 2010.

No were has Oficial info, all you can do is fish forums and iv been through way to many.

Your answer to be sure.... Q4!.. dx11's oficial release date is 22nd ocotober. Check the AMD game site, or windows 7 oem site.

Oh I see.. but you are missing alot though.. shadows on Very high look awesome.. turn the reflections to low as Inetol said you may gain some fps but you won't notice ANY difference.. then turn the shadows on very high any you'll enjoy the game alot.
