  • irishgeal1 no1 cud of said it better

  • wow great song

  • Brilliant

  • just found out that this song was a wee dig at ian paisley, lol, makes sense when ya listen to it, suits him to a tee :-)

  • epic!!!dont think luke knew how to sing a bad song, every one is an absolute peach

  • Who's playing the piano?

  • @Fiach2008 I reckon it's Phil Coulter, would make sense as he wrote the song.

  • Luke Kelly had some magic quality I can't define?

  • @express375 It's joy, confidence, sex appeal. They used to call that "IT." :)

  • Isn't it great that artists such as Lukey can be experienced by the world even at this time.

A true hero, a class act who had the X factor before the shams!!

Long live the voice and the memory

  • @dublindonal These modern "artists" need computers to help them sing, and they don't a hold a half a match to Luke Kelly. If these modern singers would learn how to perform by watching just one of Luke's videos, we'd have a much better world.

  • luke kelly should be made a saint

  • Geart stuff!

  • I don't know what's better, the great song, sung well, or the massively epic set of beards on display.

  • everybody's got the right to go wrong......AMEN

  • legend

  • Thank you Luke Kelly !

  • Such an upbeat sound! Does anyone know when this was recorded?

  • brilliant! the dubliners cant do any wrong as far as Im concerned and this song is ACE.Love it.

  • luke kelly, wrote a song for every season, and everyman...... and he was proud to irish.

slainte, i'd loved to have been about to raise a glass with him.... he was a 'voice extraordinaire'

  • @Kellyoneill This song is ace in billions of ways, and it is well worth listening to billions of times I want it played at my funeral when I snuff it and die.

  • thats no afro,it an O'fro.

  • UP THE DUBS 2011............

  • Ronnie Drew does not look impressed! haha

  • The perfect antodote to Rick Perry and the Teabaggers! Thanks Luke...you were there when we needed you.

  • Legend.

  • Yes, according to the other Dubs. Luke always insisted this song was about the rev. Ian Paisley.

  • Unreal, pure talent; R.I.P

  • probably taking the piss out of Ian Paisley.... and people who love the bible?.....

  • pity the fiddle and banjo not mic'd. great song, great beards.

  • Sad to think 3 of them are dead. Luke Kellys voice pure magic..

  • There drinkers there liars but there men.....

You'll never see the likes of them again. Luke, Ronnie and Ciaran. RIP

  • thats no boy band, thats a mans band.

  • @irishgeal1 Thats one of the best comments i've ever seen on youtube

  • im not religious either, still love the tune

  • its not a piano its a banjo and the other singers are the dubliners on his side a fool

  • Comment removed

  • So far I've listened to this video 3 or 4 times now - and there is distinctly a piano in the background, and at least a vocal track during the chorus. And you can tell that Luke Kelly gets lost early the song. You can clearly hear him singing along with his own voice during the chorus, not the mention the instrumental part with the light piano solo! It's old so no big surprise!

  • @tbyrne706 2011

  • Don't mess with the Dubs!

  • I am an Atheist!

I laugh about anything so crudely simple like this!

But when he praises the right to be wrong, this is just modern!

Even if the recording is some decades ago!

    Some things never change!

Like the stubborness of mankind, the perversity of the clergy and the corruption of the burocracy!

  • Awesome, Irish music was never quite like this after Luke departed. Not that religious but love this song, good feeling song.

  • The worlds first punk band :)

  • This just gets better every time i hear it. Brilliant.

  • kelly lets talk...

  • @irishgeal1 I'm with you on the white pants and light violet shirt! Sheesh, Mr. Sheahan! My mother called clothes like these "loud" in the sixties!

  • @irishgeal1 And the red violet jeans! Too much!

  • i love it..i love it

  • this should be rereleased absolutely fabulous bring it on

  • I always smiled at Luke singing this, him being a communist. :)

  • I want to know what the joke was during the song--something cracked Luke up while he was singing!

  • @cindydintn He tried to start the chorus early twice.

  • @redbirdjazzz Thanks! I love to see him grin. He was the same age as my brother. Benji died two years before he did. Both beautiful men, both gone much too soon.

  • @cindydintn lol i think its cause he messed up at 1:21. think he started the chorus a bit early lol

  • the best band of all time luke kelly r i p

  • get in there luke, did someone mention the idiot gaga, please hand me the sick bucket.

  • awwwwh luke they will nere be another like ya RIP we love ya!!

  • "I like my liquor and my living hard, may the lord save my soul, my salvation was the turn of a card, my heart's as black as coal! but everybody's got the right to go wrong!" story of my life! I love the Dubliners & Luke Kelly!

I'm not a religious man but I love this song! even a rogue like me has a shot at redempton!

  • @TheMandolinMan2 Sinner make the Best Saints Friend. If my path were clean I'd be bored with it..but yes there is hope even for the "Bad Men" who refuse to fall in..be content in that and pass the bottle.

  • @TheMandolinMan2

LOL! Me too. Love ya Luke and the lads xxx

  • @TheMandolinMan2 I think what makes this a great song is Luke Kelly. He gives so much energy to his performance you don't care what the subject of the song is about.

  • @TheMandolinMan2 The story of everybody's life.

  • "everybody's got the right to go wrong".....amen to that!

  • thank you so much for posting this wonderful video. Luke was such a treasure and you had to love his mischief's look

    Deirdre~~~~

  • I was born to hunt and listen to Luke Kelly

  • @iwasborntohunt357 you and me both! :o)

  • @dave91675 what?

  • @dave91675 what?

  • @circussal1 Luke Kelly Is the best and So is HUNTING!

  • i love when bands like this sing gospel songs. todays christian music doesnt have the heart of these guys, take johnny cash and elvis for example. they sang from the heart and soul and thats why the old dudes like the dubliners are amazing and are definatley one of the greatest bands to ever live

  • Never stop listening to this

  • They're havin' great auld craic singin that song! Fantastic stuff

  • Ah, the classic Lineup. Absolutely fantastic upload. Luke Kelly, sorely missed by folk fans the world over... Ronnie, Ciaran, really wish I could have been at this performance!

  • What a voice!

  • I know when the Dubliners were starting out, they were originally called the Ronnie Drew group but that is only referring to one man when there were at least 4 or 5 men. The name was changed to the Dubliners, there are now only two of the originals left now Barney and John when Barney and John die which they like the three who have died Luke, Kieron and now Ronnie. There will be no originals at all, but life has to go on and continue it does not stop for anyone. Nobody is immortal or invincible

  • Phil Coulter is an amazing songwriter. Hard to believe he wrote this and Irelands Call

  • @zoso7889 he wrote a lot more than that

and don't forget scorn not his simplicity mate amazing song

  • @zoso7889 WE WILL FORGIVE HIM FOR IRELANDS CALL. IRELAND HAS JUST ONE NATIONAL ANTHEM, AND ITS CERTAINLY NOT IRELANDS CALL.

  • Luke Kelly you're sorely missed!

  • 10 people are deaf

  • an absolute musical genius!

  • an amazing voice and amazing group of people, it is unfortunate we will never see their like again.

  • i wish the songs at sunday mass were this good then maybe i'd show up more often

  • im 14 i love listening to the dubliners,i grew up in dublin listening to the guys and one they will never be forgoten thats a cert

  • @Taidghboyle I'm the same except I'm 15 haha. We know the old ways my friend!

  • man luke kelly just does not dissapoint.

  • Was this on topm of the pops?

  • Luke is a legent

  • The BIBLE is the MARK of the BEAST! Constantine (1st beast) legalized Christianity and had 50 bibles compiled. King James, homo (2nd beast) 666 # of a man, born 1566, 6th of Scotland, authorized 66 book bible, image of God's word, carried in your hand, memorized in your head, made to speak (the bible says) and is used as an object of worship. Your faith will fail.

  • THE DUBLINERS WILL ALWAYS FOLLOW THE BEST DISCIPLE IN THE END;-)

THATS WHY THE VIKINGS ARRIVED AS WELL?

  • Luke Kelly

    nuff said,

    R.I.P immortal legend

  • I wish I was strong enuff to save LUKE KELLY GOD LOVES you and so do I

  • quick question!! what is the best cd combo to get of luke, only asking cos this song aint on the newly released difinitive collection but "thank you for the days" is. THANKS!!

  • Comment removed

  • has anyone noticed that the crowd starts clapping before they finish singing? its kinda akward.

  • The Dubs are immortal & will live forever :) never mind J****n B***er or any of that bullshit! this is real music! I'm 20 & the Dubs are my favourite band

  • im an athiest myself but theres something about religous music and songs i love and luke kelly is the man to sing them.

  • @woodjoewood Oh, he was a fervent man. One would say: a bigot. His religion? Good beer and good rhythms.

  • @Chomuno o yeah i know what your saying but im referin to the words not just this one but others of the likes of jim reeves, gospel, country etc i always find some form of rejoice in these types of songs with sounding hypocritical haha

  • @woodjoewood Such an anticlerical fellow! You should be damned into the fire of Hell... Unless there's good beer and intelligent men there... Your real punishment would be: to spend the whole eternity in the Paradise, amidst the narrow-minded bigots and a naïve old-man called "God".

  • They're so young :o

  • luke kelly one of the best ever :)

  • lmao, kieron red shirt black pants, barney purple shirt grey pants, luke orange shirt muroon pants, sean lilac shirt white pants, ronnie red shirt light grey pants, who else only the dubliners could carry that off.

  • @irishgeal1 muse lol

  • brilliant stuff sure enough

  • That was back in the days, when auto-tune wasn't invented. That was back in the days, where they actually could sing.

That was back in the days, before talent-shows was everyday-life on TV.

Before everyone could get famous, for knowing how NOT to sing.

This is pure talent...R.I.P Luke Kelly and Ronnie Drew.

  • @MiniSanctuary spot on imo :)

  • so are you saying that on behalf of anybody or do you genuinely belive that?

  • @peteym if that comment was directed at me, then i really do mean it. years ago people faught for a cause. now people don't now why they're fighting, they just think they should.

  • I absolutely love the Dubliners... growing up as a young man and going through crazy amounts of life changing things right now- this song brings a huge smile to my face.

    God bless the dubs.

  • whoever dislikes this song would want a kick in the h*le. THis song is pure genius.

  • luke is so cool in this one.

  • MY FAVOURITE. LUKES BEST

  • i love this song

  • Finest singer I have ever heared.

  • I'm not a religious person by any means, but I think this is a very honest song of faith.

  • @theplasticbomb it isnt really as far as i know its a piss take of that irish priest ian paisley

  • @pict19 ian paisley is not an irish priest! he is a biggot-ed cunt that deserves a slow and painful death. the deepest pit in hell will close when that creature is screaming in pain within it.

  • absolutely brillant song pure talent!!

  • Fucking Huge.

  • legend

  • OMG, how wonerful, look at the hair classic..Love it all, thanks Stephen XX

  • @76tyuv23 fuck ian paisley

  • @76tyuv23 a true piss take on paisley, the f**ker

  • "don't give a damn for any man, as all the world can see" - like the style Lukey

  • man thats a fukin deadly song go on luke kelly :D

  • Can anyone tell me is this a Christian redemption song or a piss take on religion?

  • its a piss take on Rev. Ian Paisley who thought he was 'lords disciple' :)

luke, you are a legend brother!!

  • piss take, like always with the folkbands of this time (see Ewan MacColl, see the Irish Rovers...)

  • ha lady gaga wil be forgoten in a few years!........this man wont!! people should be made listen to him!!

  • @Deano94o I do not meet often someone who thinks this... You're right, Mikael Jackson would be remember'd as a funny dancer, nothing more, Lady Gaga and fifty cents'd be totally forgotten, all this false culture: we, our descendants will only remember Ewan MacColl, Luke Kelly, maybe the Pogues, the man who sings "Chocolate Rain", Jacques Brel and Scott Walker. Do not forget that what most of the people hear now will soon be "classical music" and just heard by few folks.

  • @Deano94o your dead right man

  • @Deano94o I think so much the same...

  • @Deano94o dean best comment i seen ina long time and 119 people agree :L

  • @Deano94o not sure if ppl should be MADE listen to him, after all its the way in which ppl were MADE learn irish in school is the reason its in decline instead of being propogated.

I do think any concientous irish person will at some point in their lives fall in love with kelly...what a man!

  • @Deano94o amen
