@dublindonal These modern "artists" need computers to help them sing, and they don't a hold a half a match to Luke Kelly. If these modern singers would learn how to perform by watching just one of Luke's videos, we'd have a much better world.
@Kellyoneill This song is ace in billions of ways, and it is well worth listening to billions of times I want it played at my funeral when I snuff it and die.
So far I've listened to this video 3 or 4 times now - and there is distinctly a piano in the background, and at least a vocal track during the chorus. And you can tell that Luke Kelly gets lost early the song. You can clearly hear him singing along with his own voice during the chorus, not the mention the instrumental part with the light piano solo! It's old so no big surprise!
I wish I knew more musicians who liked this music as much as me. I'd spend the rest of my days singing it to anyone who's face we could bring a smile to
@redbirdjazzz Thanks! I love to see him grin. He was the same age as my brother. Benji died two years before he did. Both beautiful men, both gone much too soon.
"I like my liquor and my living hard, may the lord save my soul, my salvation was the turn of a card, my heart's as black as coal! but everybody's got the right to go wrong!" story of my life! I love the Dubliners & Luke Kelly!

@TheMandolinMan2 I think what makes this a great song is Luke Kelly. He gives so much energy to his performance you don't care what the subject of the song is about.
i love when bands like this sing gospel songs. todays christian music doesnt have the heart of these guys, take johnny cash and elvis for example. they sang from the heart and soul and thats why the old dudes like the dubliners are amazing and are definatley one of the greatest bands to ever live
Ah, the classic Lineup. Absolutely fantastic upload. Luke Kelly, sorely missed by folk fans the world over... Ronnie, Ciaran, really wish I could have been at this performance!
I know when the Dubliners were starting out, they were originally called the Ronnie Drew group but that is only referring to one man when there were at least 4 or 5 men. The name was changed to the Dubliners, there are now only two of the originals left now Barney and John when Barney and John die which they like the three who have died Luke, Kieron and now Ronnie. There will be no originals at all, but life has to go on and continue it does not stop for anyone. Nobody is immortal or invincible
The BIBLE is the MARK of the BEAST! Constantine (1st beast) legalized Christianity and had 50 bibles compiled. King James, homo (2nd beast) 666 # of a man, born 1566, 6th of Scotland, authorized 66 book bible, image of God's word, carried in your hand, memorized in your head, made to speak (the bible says) and is used as an object of worship.
