Well they Excommunicated Martin Luther, the Catholic Friar & Scholar for daring to say "This is corrupt & wrong" (short version)! Well look how that worked out for them? But generally:
"The RC Church IS Fascist, Hierarchical & Totalitarian! It has provided the perfect model to every Dictator who ever set himself up as Supreme, "infallible" leader!"
And that's coming from a former, (or recovering I like to think) Catholic!

P.S. Henry VIII was lived in the 16th century & was an Absolute Monarch, so just replaced the Pope as Head of the Church in England (& Ireland, but not Scotland!). Ever read a book have we?
