besides are you even able to hold enough gold/silver to even make a difference. 2-3 oz of gold or 20-50 oz of silver really arent going to do you all that much if there is a total economic crash. in long term maybe a little but if teh economy crashes you will have far more to worry about short term. that is where the guns come in

So 730 ozs (5.7 lbs) would be good for 2 years at that rate. I don't know how long it would take for the economy to normalize after a crash but my guess is if the market is free it will be sooner and if it is detroit it will be never.
I'm still curious about your guns though. How much did they increase in price?

I use to pump gas at a gas station at the age of 14. Gas was 30 cents a gallon (paid in .900 silver coinage). So $1.00 would buy you better than 3 gallons of gas. Today the silver content value of those same (10) dimes will still buy you better than 3 gallons of gas @ $2.75 per gallon.
