You could use shellac if you wanted on gun stocks but it will wear off. A better choice would be the Tru-Oil Gun stock oil (available at Woodcraft). 142763

@woodcraftmarketing If you put a top coat of poly it will work fine.

Do they use shellac on gun stocks? I own a .22 winchester and it has a finish that reminds me of shellac.
