I'm going to remember the LOTR books forever because I got a particularly old edition and they smelled fantastic, as much as I love ebooks I have to say the smell of old books drives me crazy, I absolutely love it.
I was about 13 or 14 and I was into games that were already starting to be called "abandonware" such as Doom or Heroes of Might & Magic II, and I didn't have a PS1 but I bought tons of games I played in my computer with no other than the great and only Connectix VGS
When I was 15 I was really into drawing anime, especially on Oekaki/PaintBBS.
Also we had just gotten speedy internez so for the first time I could actually watch some animes other than Pokémon since that was pretty much what we had going in Sweden at the time.
10 years ago i was into dbz and yugioh back when i was 7 those were my first animes that i became obsessed with lol i was a nerd even as an elementary school kid hahaha
I had always been obsessed with Disney but that's because I was brought up with nothing else but that, I didn't know any other shows or movies. When Lord of the Rings came out 10 years ago, this was the very first nerd freak out I had, the movie encouraged me just like you to buy the books, I didn't know English so I bought them in French and read them, probably the first books I read at my own will. I'm still as massive of a nerd I am for Lord of the Rings, it will just never die for me. <3
@NeverDreamChild wow similar story! it was basically one of the first book i read on my own will, although i can't complain reading bridge to terabithia and anne of green gables :) they were superb
Ten years ago, I was still mourning the loss of my fave genre of space simulation games. After becoming hooked on the Wing Commander and Privateer series, I was searching high and low in vain for more of the same. The last one I got was Freelancer which was a let down after Microsoft bought out Digital Anvil and dumped most of the original ideas for it. Since then, my craving for more space battles has gone unfed.
I can't really name any franchise I was into 10 years in the past. "Star Wars" for me was an obsession, even enjoyed the prequels (third was the best IMO). I wasn't obsessed like buying everything Star Wars, know what I mean? "Godzilla" is another, loved the Raymond Burr movie, never saw the Japanese version "Gojira", I only collect the movies I consider good.
Anyway Happy Holidays, and Happy 10 year anniversary to Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings! :D
Have you read the Silmarilllion?
What do you think of The Hobbit trailer?
