  • My favorite story about Al was he was brought in by John Hammond to teach Son House his old songs before a blues festival. Son had forgotten his old songs because he had been retired for 30 years and had a fondness for the bottle. Teachin Son House his own songs! That's legend, man.

    Al was special, that's for sure. Hooker called Canned Heat the best boogie band ever, and I think that's probably right.

    Great music..great feel...it's got soul....
