Who would imagine when we viewed this silly scene in a fictitious movie in 1976 that 34 years later this sentiment would be acted out in a political movement called the "Tea Party?" The difference of course was that the writer of the movie, Patty Chayfesky was only imagining how a particular segment might react if given permission to complain about their status on the American totem pole. He wasn't far off the mark.
The guy IS a lunatic- but that doesn't mean he isn't right. Sanity is mass consent. The difference between genius and insanity is mass support and acceptance.
Until people do start getting mad as hell, he will remain crazy.
Is it crazy to speak the truth? Is it crazy to try to get the energy together to reverse the downward spiral? Is it crazy to want to be a human being with value? Is it crazy to want a better world?
You dont burn buildings and try to kill people cause one little anarchist shit got killed. Especially when the court date for the officers hasnt even taken place.
Anarchists are the worst things that could happen to us. They only want to hurt people.
Sometimes I disagree with people, and there for have a little argument/debate/exchange of ideas.
But your last 3 sentences are bullshit.
And police killing civilians is very common, and not just in Greece or America. But once they shot one of us, how could we not respond in such a manner.
If I am shot by a cop, I don't care if he gets life in prison, the death penalty, or gets acquitted, a society which justifies people in power murdering those without needs to be destroyed.
You're right, we should try only once and give up.
No use in learning from our mistakes or anything, I guess we'll just resign ourselves to the whims of the world instead of actually having a hand in determining how our lives will be lived.
you get yourself an army and weapons and a decent chance at a job like that. and you can count me in. i dont like how some things are either but one person isnt going to change anything
I am not interested in creating a vanguard, 'getting myself an army and having others *join* me'. A social rupture requires just that: a *social* rupture.
To bring things to the point where 'normality' can no longer impose itself on us. When there are no longer those who lead and those who join, but when we all determine how our lives are to be lived.
Things happen all the time, and then people get amnesia and it goes away. Tensions and 'crises' rise all the time, the crucial thing is to *intervene* in already existing social conflicts, and, in my opinion, try to push them towards an anti-authoritarian trajectory and also to make the revolt spread.
Strikes, protests, riots (yes, they DO happen in the U.S.), things such as Hurricane Katrina, when tensions boil over involving a police shooting (either way - cop shooting civilian or vice-versa), L.A. riots, all the anti-war stuff that began BEFORE the Iraq war started and lasted well beyond that, when white supremist groups try to hold a rally and sometimes get shut down by the general public, trucker strikes that threatened to shut down the U.S. when gas was rising, etc, etc, etc

Get angry people, get angry.
The President counteracts alleged misinformation with blatant disinformation - get angry.
Theyve lied to you. They have only contempt for your opinion.
They call you political terrorists, accuse you of carrying swastikas, sick their union thugs on youtell you theyre going to punch back twice as hard.
Get in their face, push back even harder, show your disgust, show em your fist if you have to, get angry people, get angry, get angry.

Well, if I ever finally take over a corporate media station, this is what I'll say.
One was briefly taken over during the current uprising in Greece, and they protested the cop slaying of a 15 year old anarchist.
(Reminiscent of the recent shooting of an unarmed Oscar Grant by cop at a BART station in California)
One thing that holds us back from liberty is our isolation from each other, and this clip has a good remedy for it.

QQ, one guy does something bad does not mean you take down the entire government
poopism 2 years ago
No. The problem isn't a few 'bad apples', or merely a few 'isolated incidents'.
The entire system:
1. doesn't work
2. isn't even satisfying
So why not create the world we want instead of keeping this banal culture going?
