i saw them around this time, june or july 1986, my first ever gig, manchester international 1, fainted [had not anticipated how hot these gigs get and was wearing a ski jacket!] and got threatened for heckling the support band [brenda & the beachballs or gone to earth]
So tis. But to me, the front shade looks too red which is why I couldn't recognise it, despite the actual design of the colour block on the shirt being so recognisable. I only ever got to see Ajaz wear this style on b/w telly so imagined it being in the Ajax orange.
Yes pls, with a verse describing how our TV reception got fucked up every weekday teatime by the planes coming in to land at RAF Northolt down the road and - when shit really went down militarily in some place like Aden or Malaysia that meant manoevers for night landings - also caused MotD, the World Cup highlights and (later) Sportsnight to also get thrown into a flight-path-induced vertical-hold wobble-frenzy.
Not Scouse so it won't do: down our way was all rockabilly and NWOBHM
It's far more likely the BBC production team thought the full-length song too long for the show. After all (though you don't see it here) it was broadcast live, and HMHB began playing the second the show began - no intro.
nah, this whistle test version my mate had on video for years and was for years the only version i had to watch and believe me all the verses were sung that night. it must have been edited to go on you tube, awesome song anyhow!

Legends. Nigel is a lyrical genius.
Class tune, takes me back to 4th year at senior school and geography lessons as my teacher was another HMHB fan.

I've had a close listen and look at the chord sequence and I'm pretty certain now it's:

@krakenwave That almost sounds like the subject of an HMHB song. Working title: "Colour Blind Ajax fan (Ferguson 3805)"

Talented and witty - brilliant and unmatched. Agree about the "fuck off" versions but probably not allowed on OGWT...
