Saint Seans wrote no lyrics for this piece which he called "The Swan." It was originally just an orchestral piece featuring the 'cello, so I imagine whoever added lyrics made them about whatever they wanted, in this case about a starry night. Whatever it is, it is truly one of the most beautiful pieces of music for both the 'cello and Il Volo.

OK... I can't figure this out.... "Notte Stellata" is Italian for "Starry Night"... how did "The Swan" come out of it... did it go the way of O Sole Mio & It's Now or Never.... i.e. 2 different titles for the same song and with different meanings??

@GerRoland I have No idea. On the Italian/English CD it says "Notte Stellata (The Swan)" I found that confusing at first too, (I still do)! I've been meaning to ask one of the guys...haven't gotten to it yet! :D You'll be the first to know if I find out! On the Spanish album it says "Notte Stellatta (Noche de Estrellas) which is right on!

@CaitlynBarone Hello! Notte Stellata is the version with lyrics from "The swan" or "The dying swan" (music by Camille Saint-Saens), a beaauutiful ballet solo by Michel Fokine.

That's why they also call it The Swan :)

@CaitlynBarone The Swan is the score they just put the lirycs on it its , The swan as i hope you already know is part of the carnival of the animals composed by camile saint saens its more known in the ballet world because of the Daying Swan a solo coreographie made for Anna Pavlova!

@GerRoland ,The Swan (aka Le Cygne) , is the 13th movement of The Carnival of the Animals by Camille Saint-Saëns. This group made it into a song now called Notte Stellata but they are giving credit to the classical piece.
