Its not impossible for a tsunami to hit British shores one did happen in fact in 1751 in Cornwall, after the terrible earthquake and tsunami destroyed Lisbon.

This could happen quite easily. Why? Because there is growing fault in one the Canary Islands. Cumbre Vieja on La Palma has a core that is filling full of fresh water and not draining away. The resulting volcano/ island collapse would cause a tsunami to hit cornwall in 3.5 hours.
