@themusicdr Of course not. They are just playing around, having fun. Killing time before lunch. There is a good possibility that neither of them played it in months before this.
you can never imagine that this romantic scene is created by all MALEs! 2 violinists, 1 pianist, 1 or 2 violin makers, and the music was done by Bach.
Bach was a genius with a God-given talent, this movement is so beautiful that I can't find the adecuate words to express what I feel every time I listen to it.
Lumiere 1991 you obviously miss the point. If 1991 is your birth year that is quite understandable. When you achieve the age and greatness of this perfomance, however, to you it will be quite unforgivable.
@Lumiere1991 NO...you cannot regulate the legends like you have done to today's musician. These violinists played from the heart, it was in their blood. They cared little for repertoire and focused on expressing themselves through the composers work. I will give you full right to regulate hillary hahn or some of the supreme performers of today. Their music is regulated by the suzuki method and ensuring they uphold today's "proper playing". These old fashioned fiddle players hit home.
@Lumiere1991 Because you were born in Baroque era, right? That's about 1991 I guess. This is your teacher speaking through you. Forget everything you have been taught by words. Listen to music and learn.
These two men once played this for me at Eric's apartment in One Lonclon Tower after I cooked diner for them...it is a night I'll never forget...New York in the 70s was amazing!
@aricasper wow, if that is true, you're are a very VERY lucky person. I'm only 23, and I would give anything to see heifetz play in person. Cherish those memories friend.
Look at the ease with which Heifetz consistantly played right at the bridge. I understand that a lot of it has to do with that instrument... but it's still a huge credit to his control. Crazy technique
@PaperGrape wrong he did not always play right at the bridge. he goes everywhere to make the dynamics more consistant. Don't look where he played in stuff. pay attention to his technique. back than there strings weren't like the strings we have today. like we have evah pirazzi, obligato, vision titanium solo strings, or anything like that. they had crappy strings. and don't talk about his instrument either. a fricken stratavarious. it has nothing to do with his instrument. the best violinist.
@xDwepee Who in the world said 'he always played right at the bridge....' read the text before you respond to it. and if you think the instrument has nothing to do with playing at the bridge, it proves you don't do a whole lot of playing at the bridge... or maybe you're not a violinist?
This song is beautiful. It makes you want to cry hearing it. Like if you had a bad day, this will make it better, and it is played by two great violinists. Great video.
To see Heifetz here with his student brought tears to my eyes. I've performed this many times with both my teacher and father, my first teacher. Bravo Heifetz and Friedman!
favorite video on youtube. two great 20th century masters playing together... funny.. a time capsule... and heartbreaking... for those who know of freidman's career that never materialized and his later break with heifetz.
the fact that he's staring into his stand the whole time coupled with the fact that he almost placed his stand in such a way that Heifitz couldn't see him foreshadowing then ?

so ein scheiß, dass ist allgemeines Kulturgut und wen einer so kacke drauf ist und das Abspielen auf Youtube verbietet, dann würd ich bei dem nie wieder nen Tonträger kaufen
I am so amazed at the love that developes for our violin teachers. My teacher Paul Makara recently passed away. Watching Heifetz here with Friedman filled me such emotion having performed this with my teachers as well. God bless our violin teachers not only for teaching us to be violinists, but to be better human beings.

Ils n'ont pas le même diapason:Cela sonne parfois faux en duo,et ce n'est pas du fait de Heifetz...

It sounds beautiful, but actually this interpretation of Bach is ridiculous. Vibrato is in Baroque is a very careful ornamentation.

I love Heifetz but the heavy vibrato just isn't appropriate. This sounds like two cats calling under the full moon.
