  • I dunno...I once heard Richard Sherman (of the Sherman Brothers) deny Walt's anti-semitism.The Sherman Brothers were Jewish themselves. Larry Clemmons, a storyman who was black, denied Walt had any prejudice against him, too. It's hard to pick which side you agree on. Maybe what Richard and Larry were actually doing was protecting Walt's reputation. Or maybe this is all bias; maybe Melendez hated Walt deep down and just wanted to bash him by supposedly making up stuff.

  • @theenlightenment2012 "Walt openly admited his racism through his support of eugenics". As an english major, to openly admit to something, you must have clear clean evidence, it has to be said or done, but explained or supported after done. You have no right to say that he "openly admited" his racism through the support of eugenics. Unless he told you himself or was interviewed saying the exact words, what you're saying is not true. You look like a complete idiot.

  • I would like to point out, to all of the people who are insulting Disney and calling him a racist, you should keep in mind the time period, and while you claim you "hate Disney", and go on about what a horrible person is- everyone has flaws. Mind you, half of the shit said might not be true. I'm sure none of you knew him personally, so respect him for who he was rather than focus on the bullshit that Hollywood reports. None of you posting on this video are perfect people, so relax.

  • "walt disney has been associated with antisemitism despite most of his friends and colleagues at disney having been jewish."

Bigots are really good at compartmentalizing. For an anti-Semite, getting to know a few Jews doesn't get in the way of believing that Jews as a whole are evil. Instead, the bigot insists that her Jewish friends are the exception, the "good Jews."

Plus, I'd hope we all know better than to say, "So-and-so can't be bigoted against X people! Some of his best friends are X!"

  • this is fucking ridiculous. walt disney has been associated with antisemitism despite most of his friends and colleagues at disney having been jewish. this is due to guilt by association with one of many anti-union groups he was a member of that held an undertone of intolerance unbeknownst to walt. not to say that he didn't have his flaws, but in this case the myth is far more notorious than the man.

  • It's Bill Cosby Complex. People want to turn good, smart, talented men into the monsters that THEY in fact are. Leave Disney and the Cos alone u fucks.

  • Who said he was racist. Against Jews. It could have been blacks

  • Walt openly admited his racism through his support of eugenics.it was the big.science of his day.most states had laws in place to support the controling of breeding of lessor races and degenerates so whites wouldnt breed at such a slow rate as to go extinct.the facts, proof is readily available.read.educate yourselves.racist as hell

  • After Walt's dead, the jews take over his work and change it in satanic propaganda material.

  • You guy's are a bunch of fucking idiots!!!!!!! I mean people think Walt Disney was a Freemason, a part of the Priory Of Sion, best friends with hitler, and a racist. Do any of you fucks know who the Sherman brothers are? That they are jewish and we're really close to Walt? So tell me how having jewish friends makes him racist?

  • @delraygun

I'm sorry, not to say you're wrong but, this is the same as the whole "I have black friends, how does that make me a racist?" thing.

People can and do lie. Very well actually. No matter how "close" they were. You may be "best friends" with someone but they'll look down on you, or even dislike you, for something you can't change. So yeah, maybe Disney wasn't racist, but you need a better argument than "he had Jewish friends".

  • this is trash

  • What? You think someone with that much power and influence would be totally legit. Give me a break, It's the same old story, anyone, and I mean ANYONE with that kind of cash obviously isn't on the "up and up", at least not completely.

  • @HangGrenade01: You're an idiot. With some people, what you saw was what you got, no matter how wealthy they happened to be. People, even former employees, like to bash the man--whether it's because they hate what the company now represents or they hate the sappy, Happiest Place on Earth image the company tries to project--but with him, he was who he said he was, end of discussion.

  • This is just so much more leftist communist propaganda that these elements among the yid supremacist groups love to spread once they have managed to consume another of America's great institutions. This has become increasingly more common in recent years as these hateful and avaricious nation wreckers have secured almost complete control over our former government. These rat bastards are trying to erase all of the great accomplishments of our white Christian predecessors. Disney was a great man!

  • I know it's popular to bash Walt Disney 45 years after he's dead but there is one hole in the accusations that Walt was a racist. The guy created the attraction "Its a Small World". I know a lot of us have ridden that ride at Disneyland/Disney World. You ride that and then tell me if a truly devout racist man would construct that attraction.

  • @bigphil399

I don't know about "racist", but I'll go with "evil".

That ride always freaked me the fuck out.

  • EVERYBODY is a "Racist"......

  • Walt disney was racially insensitive LIKE EVERYONE ELSE IN THE 40s. Walt Disney was a flawed human being but a true genius and visionary. This documentary is very biased and much of the points it makes (specifically about Walt's racism and anti semitism) can easily be argued against if not proven false. I encourage anyone who watches this to read Michael Barrier's "The Animated Man" or Neal Gabler's "Walt Disney: The Triumph of the American Imagination"

  • @hkisam You shouldn't assume that everyone in the 40's was a racist. It may have been common but that does not make it right.

  • @WhiteFlowerLei76 No it doesn't make it right; racism is never right. However, walt disney was not a racist. Walt was racially insensitive in his depictions of different races in his movies and shorts. There is NO legitimate evidence proving he was anti semitic or genuinely racist. Even in walt disney's stereotypes, different races are never depicted as unintelligent, just in a now politically incorrect manner. Try watching a tex avery cartoon and tell me walt was a racist.

  • @hkisam walt disney might have been a visionary but he was sexiest, racist an most of all a dick

  • @hkisam yeah but Hitler was a greater visionary than Disney. He was still a grade A nut job.

There were plenty of non-racist people in America in the early 20th century who chose to NOT do racist things. Walt actively chose to be racist, whatever you may think of his cartoons. He is prick, pure and simple, but yes he had a good business mind.

  • @RivJohnson101 Hilter was a better visionary?? Are you kidding me?? :p His own people turned on him and today he is seen as an embarrassment to Germany. Disney is something America is proud of! in fact Orlando is known internationally by Disney. Btw did you see Song of the South? Walt was advised not to make a movie staring a good black person because of the black haters at the time. Walt knowing it could be bad business still made the movie, because he thought it was the right thing to do.

  • @hkisam Man report this as hate speech against a vulnerable individual. This isn't right. I'm reporting all these videos because in America you can sue for slander, this British so it escapes American law. Just report it.

  • @hkisam Trying to disprove a solid fact (and to go as far as to DENY IT?) with propaganda? Yeah, no thanks.

  • @erik4727 solid fact?...... lol

  • @hkisam i prefer first-hand experience as to some guy clinging to a false hope that was his childhood.

  • @erik4727 im sure at least one of us has better things to do then argue on youtube, we'll agree to disagree

  • @hkisam

Exactly, just like Adolf Hitler. a TRUE visionary.

  • @hkisam Yea but he used shady tactics like convincing other studio cartoonists were communist sympathizers....he was a dick.

  • "Are the Jews dead yet?" -Disney when he is released from his cryogenic chamber.

  • @kalars88 thats from family guy!

  • I'm about to watch this. But first, an example:

I remember being shocked at the many attrocities depicted is history lessons. As a result, I was reminded of how ignorant it is to judge the past with your mind in the present

My position on racism is clear; unacceptable, without exception to any race.

And once you understand that often, people didn't do better in the past because they didn't know any better, that clarifies things.

Using sensationalism to prove a point is inviting stupidity.

  • @LunaSeaSane I agree with your perception, but even in the past there were other who felt that what was normal to most was not normal to some. Slavery and racism were normal to most but others were against it. Based on what you said, I can't understand why some people are against modern day narcotrafficking, but accept the politician's money that was made on the back of prohibition and its crime lords of yesterday. Why do we examine the past with admiration and frown now on the same horror?

  • @GyvonJ I examine it passively because it is already past us.

Here's the thing; right here, right now is where change can be proven most effective.

Our civilization's past mistakes can now be subjected to potential betterment. And that is the most valuable, most useful tool we have.

From what happened, we keep the shame for those who suffered. And some level of compassion for those who didn't know any better. But unfortunately, my guess is Walt Disney didn't differ much from the norm.

  • at least this racisit crap can help cure the economy ha ha ha i suck at that kind of comedeybut serously what does this have to do wit any racisim or the illumanti also walt was a 33 degree fremanson altho im not smart enough to know if that has alot to wit alot of his illumanti symbolism also on that topic i have heard alto i do not belive that its true but i have heard that disney has had ilummanti mind cotrol but once again i am not smart enough to know if any of thats important or not

  • at least this racisit crap can help cure the economy ha ha ha i suck at that kind of comedey

  • I respect Disney as a producer, but as a person...that's a different story. From what I've heard, Disney was a power-hungry, racist and sexist mogul. He stole most of the credit from his animators and classified the rank of his employees based on gender. Now these are things a good boss should NOT do. He should give his employees their fair share of credit, and everyone should recieve equally good treatment.

  • This is confusing. I don't know who to believe. Even so, I was shocked to hear what Bill Melendez had to say. I loved Disney films with all my heart as a child, but until recently, I was unaware of Disney's supposed darker side.

  • @31operafa: Yes, it's Snoopy insulting Mickey here, but like many employees, he probably grew dissatisfied with the way Uncle Walt did things & like others, Bill took his voice to anyone who would listen. Whether truth or lie, Walt was not any different than anyone else, for no one's perfect. Sure, we love the image projected by the likes of Walt's enterprise, the Jim Henson company, & those who knew Mr. Rogers, but the only people who them best were the people themselves.

  • In Walt Disney's defense, the characters he "plagerized" were more than likely plagerized from someone else. Since animated films were so new, it was really about who got them on to the big screen first. It wasn't about who made the characters, it was what was done with them and who did those things first. Disney was that guy. I hate him as a person, but not for most of his cartoons

  • I believe he is racist. But really who wasn't racist in the 40's

  • i always wanted to own a swell camera now goddamn it iv got 1

  • Disney plagiarized Micky Mouse image. Henry Ford gave OUR state-secret formula for isobutyl rubber to Hitler, enabling the invasion of Poland (tires for vehicles needing) Bush family/pals funded Hitler. Bayer (aspirin/cipro NOT best anthrax cure) funded development of zyclon B gas. After WWII our OSS(CIA) used Eastern Intel Chiefs (killed 20 MILLION Russians, allies then) tp run Pentagon's same, and protege' Helen Van Dam drew up lists which Reagan used to select appointees 8yrs gov, 8yrs prez.

  • you also have 2 think about the fact that it was hip back then to make racist jokes

  • I believe Disney was a shrewd, sometimes brutal businessman who did everything to make sure his studio would survive anything. He caught on to TV's success, built up his theme parks, and invented this image of himself in people's minds. And he could bury people who challenged him.

He was brilliant, but he could be so brutal. I love him, and yet I have to admit this.

  • You americans don't appreciate what your country and people has earned, here in southamerica, there is no cartoon or animation studios, there is no video game corporations or any of those cool stuff, you all morons, you don't have any idea of what is bad.

  • you have youtube, so shut up and stop complaining

  • Our country earned???why dont you just leave south america i mean hell we only had that shit for like the last 60 or so years and america isnt the best country in the world dumbass i know what bad is not all of us have "video games" but look moron you have internet....lucky bastard you dont have hughesnet like some ppl i know do here so hmm your lucky you have a pc at all.

face the fact no where in this world is decent.....the better place right now is probably canada or austrailia

  • @JohnKricfalusi i lived in peru for a year i know what its like

  • A lot of this stuff comes from those in the union who hated Walt. It was from that time period much of this BS came out. Walt was no saint but he was far from these bullshit claims. The man was American through and through. No one ever talks about the fact that when he came to Hollywood he tried to be a live action studio head, and it was the other studios who shut him out. Animation wasn't on their radar and they "let him have that". Sherman brothers and other jews were close with Walt.

  • that dosent mean any thing you can work with people of diffrent cultures and race's and still be racist the man allowed many of cartoons have mickey call other cartoons the n word and so on

Im interested in animation and i look up to animators alot but i live with the truth knowing that many of them are sick

specially the ones who work for disney

  • people PLEASE do not believe this. HE WAS NOT anti semetic. THIS IS JUST LIES. truth be told, my best friend's grandparents were dear, DEAR friends to Mr. Disney and they were very religious Jews, and he would never be against his dear friends.

He also made a cartoon showing people of the world what the nazis were doing to the Jews.

Also the comment below shows that Iger is a Jew, a Jew wouldn't be CEO now WOULD he?

  • Disney only supported the Nazis BEFORE the holocaust, I know that.

  • @disneylandlover101 I believe you.

  • The Walt Disney Company

    Key people Bob Iger

    (President & CEO)

Iger was born to Jewish parents.

  • woW

  • No doubt the Walt worshipers will excuse Walt for being a product of the times - an old time conservative WASP with the usual racist, sexist, and anti-Semitic credentials. That does not excuse his self-aggrandizement and vindictively mistreating & slandering those who didn't pay obeisance to him. Walt was a visionary but the film exposes why we shouldn't worship the ground he walked on.

  • Based on what a few people who hated him, some of which were proven communists? Why don't you try being more objective.

  • so because they were communist automatically makes them lairs?

  • great point

  • Honestly I think rumors like these are transparent. People just wanna say stuff so they can make a dollar. Of course they wanna knock on Disney. He's a millionaire.

  • @hector17dead Is he really part of the Illuminati?

  • @hector17dead they wanna knock on Disney. He's a millionaire. <<--- NO, HE IS DEAD AND HIS BODY FROZEN....

  • WOW

  • wow
