I've been watching the USA's Tea Party from the safety of the UK.
It's sad to see a refreshing drink like tea associated with such a weird mindset.
I don't trust any politician these days and I really don't like people who harp on about their political views when the rest of us see this video as am amusing send up of Britain in the 1940s. Yeeesh!
Enfield is rather overrated imo.He fluked a career as a 'character' stand-up who took the piss out of the working class, in particular those who didn't care to vote for Kinnockio and his grand socialist vision (middle class socialists: telling the working class what to think since 1917).This is passingly entertaining but imo the actor playing Cholmondley-Warner makes it worth watching. Enfield's nadir was a laboured sketch with P Whitehouse playing a gay Laurel & Hardy. It was pitifully unfunny
@pierstheoneandonly He was big in the 90s hes not exactly a superstar now is he lol. By the way dude, middle class people have to tell the working class how to think because most poor people are also really stupid and only live to consume frozen fast food and watch Britains got the pop factor and possibly a soapstar superstar jesus on ice. The few poor and intelligent people are the true legends of lore- Einstein, Bud Fox, et al, but these are so so so rare they are mere anomolies. AGREE???
@chuckmanbob I think its fare to say a poor person who becomes smart by his own drive and determination is the greatest kind of person on this Earth. They are so few though. The poor in western developed countries are fata and happy, unhealthy slobs whos safety net protects them from effort. They are told (in the UK at least) 'dont worry about it, you cant help your circumstances, we are all equal'.
@Pentdad Yeah you are right. I'm shocked to find anyone in the UK who can actually see that. The liberal fucks try the same thing here in the U.S. They want power through big govt. and that is to entice you to vote for them by any means necessary. After that they tell you how to live and if you resist you are punished with insults, fines, and violence. Liberalism is a disease in the West.
@Warpath2198 What Labour did in the UK was make all the slobs and underclass fat and happy, so we had millions of people out of work, the majority of them on disability benefit. These millions of slobs then kept voting Labour! Although I dont like the right wing much either, at least they have corrected that problem and got all the lazy asses off of disability now. The major negative of liberalism is its hate for personal responsibility. Its NEVER your fault.
@Pentdad Yeah I actually study the UK, because its kinda of a reference point of where the U.S. could end up. I'm glad that the Democratic party your American counterpart to the Labour party in the UK, was utterly defeated in the biggest upset in 70 years by the Tea Party which is a grass roots conservative party that believes in the constitution. The old adage of giving a man a fish he eats for a day, teaching a man to fish, he eats for a lifetime comes to mind.
@Pentdad People will stay "poor" as long as their is no incentive to do anything else. I can assure you that if you took the Union jobs away, all of the free hand outs by the govt., they would get off their ass and make something happen. You can see this same behavior with house pets. Or hell look at Native Americans or natives in Australia. They get free hand outs for life and are drunks, criminals, and degenerates. Humans need incentive.
John Prescott is absolutely lifting with dickies and nits and frankly Millibland is riddled with tape worms. Most Labour supporters do tend towards the smelly and unkempt it's why we need more wars to thin their numbers out a bit. They breed like rabbits so a good war every 10 years or so is a must to cull the herd.

How Prophetic ! For the morons; that means predictive of the future not some mis-spelling of pathetic. Old-Labour were for the working man some decades ago. But now they, Nu-Liebour (sic) are just like ALL the other main parties. Only in it for themselves and couldn't give a hoot about Britain or it's long suffering folk ! I am now a British National Party supporter ...The ONLY true hope of setting things right in Britain. Or continue voting for people who laugh at you while they rob you.
@rotamota33 On the contrary it is. One can have conversations without being interrupted and we can learn things.
I don't agree with most of what Allmentado91but I still want to hear their opinions. In the real world people cut each off and are so busy thinking of what to say next that they don't actually listen to what the other person is saying. On here you have to read the post before replying.
No, it's not the place at all. This is youtube, not an ideological debating society. To read comments on the video, we now have to plough through all this nonsense that no one really wants to read on this particular forum.
most of the posts for this video are your preachings of your opinions about unrelated topics. therefore, you do have to read each post to pick out those that are relevant to the video.
Allmantado91 you don't think my children should inherit the wealth my wife and I are creating for them?
My sisters are not entitled to what our parents did to make our lives better?
How is that fair?
You seem to imply that it's immoral for people to pass down wealth to children, even when it's created by the work of others who themselves are creating wealth, but it's not immoral to take it from us?
Are you purposfully missing the point or just being thick Jcorp? You said -
"State welfare takes away the incentive to work and produce something."
so why not the inherited fortunes of the rich. Or corporate welfare? The fraction of 1% who own everything worth owning. Whats their incentive?
Who says the owners of the means of production create wealth? You could be getting rich from the proceeds of arms manufacturing or copper mining and never leave your beach house in the Hamptons.
@Alimantado91 First of all the conversation will be civil or it will end. Is that clear? You may not like what I say but you will show the courtesy and respect I have shown you. The incentive for those who own business is the profit motive.
If I am an owner of stock in x then I am getting wealthy on the labor of others and I have no problem with that. x is still producing.
If I own my own business, and over 80% of US business is small privately owned companies then I am creating wealth.
@Alimantado91 I don't agree with your point. That does not mean I'm missing it.
If you look at the welfare programs in the US you will find that since creation in 1969 they have not prevented or eliminated poverty. The overall poverty rate has hovered between 12-14% for over 40 years now.
Yet from 1959-1969 the overall poverty rate dropped from 25% to 12%.
In many households that are on welfare you will find several generations of single mothers (mostly) all of them on welfare.
@Alimantado91 You don't need to reply back to me because the conversation is going nowhere. Rather then have it come to the point of not being civil I think it's best to end it.
Greece, Italy, Spain, and Portugal are examples of where Socialism goes awry. You cannot afford al those programs.
State welfare takes away the incentive to work and produce something.
Look at welfare in the US. Since anti poverty programs like section 8 housing and cash programs the poverty rate has stayed near or at the 12% level for the past 40 years. The funnty thing is that the p[overty levels in the US went from 25% in 1959 down to around 12% in 1969.
@Alimantado91 Capitalism is not perfect and I never said that. Problems in Capitalism eventually gets fixed. The problems in Socialism just seem to fester.
In most of the European countries, even before the crash, gdp growth was okay but , except for a few, not great. Meanwhile birth rates are low in many countries like Itlay that they cannot replace retiring workers and that will be a problem because the system relies on new workers replacing retiring workers.
@Alimantado91 Unemployment in the 19 and early 20 century was due to many factors. The changeover from agriculture to heavy industry as an economic base, the lack of proper regulations (Smith never said no gov't interference)
Most of the millionaires in the UShave their own business and live very modestly. Perhaps they employ a few people. If I am wealthy why would I not want it to be passed down to my children and grandchildren?
@Alimantado91 and every nation you mentioned is a developing economy. Big difference between them and the US, France, Germany, Britain, Japana and China.
As every slave knew, being a wealth creator doesn't make you wealthy. The goods and services that workers produce belong not to them, but to their bosses. In the very process of producing things, the working class also reproduces the wealth of the capitalists.
Microsoft workers don't just develop software, they also develop Bill Gates's immense riches, and his power over themselves. Workers' daily activity under capitalism reproduces the ruling class, its profits and its control.
@Alimantado91 And Mr. gates rewards them very well with generous paychecks and other perks.
By the way the bulk of the fortunbe gets turned over to the charity upon death.
I have seen what Socialism's cousin, Communism, has done. Which is pretty much nothing. Except for the deaths of at east 50-60 million under Mao and Stalin.
Look at all those former Communist countries adopting Captalism. They just have to deal with the birth pains. You want equality at the lowest common denominator.
I want the democratic crontrol of the means of production and production to meet human need.
I've travelled all over the world, and it's most striking feature is massive inequality. The countries i've mentioned are capitalist in the true sense of the word. No welfare to provide disincentives.
36 million people die each year from hunger in a world of plenty. That's 1 a second. How many people people died of obesity in the US last year?
It's amazing how people on the left say they want "democratic control" but in order to achieve that there must be a dictatorship because not everyone see things their way. The DPRK? That's a reeal joke.
The countries you have mentioned are developing. They are not truly Capitalist. They have economic inequality due to religious, political, and social issues.
As I said earlier the problem with Socialism is that eventually you run out of other people's money- Margaret Thatcher.
36 million die from hunger and what are the reasons for that hunger? I will have to check the numbers because people like to overstate.
I would love to bring people up to my standard of living. I will not lower myself to theirs. There will always be haves and have nots for many reasons.
No equality at the lowest common denominator.
It's no coincidence that the greatest advances in human history have happened under capitalism. A system that rewards innovation, hard work, and creative thinking
Surely hunger, poverty and inequality can't be laid at the door of the economic system that dominates the world can it? Lets just blame human weakness for not interpreting the IMF holy gospels correctly.
Like Reagan, Thatcher presided over the largest redistribution of wealth in the industrialised world. From the majority into the hands of the very people that have gambled and created the crisis unfolding now. Have you not noticed LA's army of middle class homeless? 70 thousand and climbing.
@Alimantado91 Again you quote numbers that I will have to verify.
The wealth was never in the majoprity of peoples hands. If you look at the IRS you will see that in the US the top 10% of wage earners pay over 60% or more of personal income taxes.
The current crisis began 10 years ago when the US repealed the Glass Steagal act which was the last of the depression era laws to regulate bnanking. Liberals and Conservatives all followed that one.
@Alimantado91 You mean hunger, poverty, and inequality have nothing to do with the political and cultural factors within nations? It's all economic.
I never said anything about numbers relating to official enemies. I believbe that you're mistaking me for somebody else. If you're not well then you're just manufacturing stuff.
I also should say I don't live in LA so I would not notice.
Reagan and Thatchers policies pulled both nations from the brink of economic collapse.
@Alimantado91 The United States and Britain have grown tremendously in the past 30 years since Reagana nd Thatcher began their eras.
Right now things are bad but eventually they will get better.
I would certainly blame many of those who are poor in the US for their own fates. I have seen it firsthand how they expect services froim the gov't but pay very little if anything in taxes and then get angry. There is no incentive for them to better their lives because Uncle Sam is doing it all.
You seem very familiar with the numbers relating to "official enemies". How brave. Reminds me of this quote from Orwell -
"The nationalist not only does not disapprove of atrocities committed by his own side, but he has a remarkable capacity for not even hearing about them"
This is the sort of broadcast that David Cameron and his slimey Tory cronies would like to put out about Labour during the next election campaign. Don't let the chinless public schoolboys get in. They are only interested in looking after their toff pals.
Just what I was thinking! They are a disaster waiting to happen ... better the devil you know to get us out of the current mess caused by those b(w)ankers.
Cameron is patronising in his rubbish ideas and condescending in his attitude .....And a potential lightweight on the world stage (as Obama has already stated).
@pulsehouse The current mess here in the US has several casues. bankers are just one. Greedy investors who bet the wrong way. Idiot consumers who overleveraged themselves or signed papers for mortgages they did not understand. How about gov't policies that encouraged banks to take the risk or even pressured them to take risks?
I still trust in the system but I am always a bit wary. Skepticism is healthy cynicism is not.
Here Here. Or is it Hear Hear? if people didn't learn from 18 years of tory rule, including 11 years of Thatcherism, and they vote the toffs back in, they deserve all that will be coming to them. Mr Cameron is possibly the most insincere politician I've ever seen. Always up for a photo opportunity, always jumping on a bandwagon. Vote them in at your peril.
as a working class bloke, i would'nt vote labour if it was the last party on earth. As always, Harry makes a funny sketch yet its always true. You have to be a right DIPSHIT to vote labour, they are nothing but liers.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
I certainly am not, as you so eloquently put it, taking the p*ss. You certainly sound like the type of working class folk that I was referring to. The working class are less intelligent, as demonstrated by your uncouth vocabulary and your inability to construct a coherent sentence. If voting was left to upper class chaps like myself then the country, and indeed the world, would be a much safer and orderly place. Do not embarrass yourself anymore you lower class inebriate by trying to reply to me
Seemed like a perfectly coherent sentence to me, I'll carry on as if you AREN'T taking the piss then...you toffee-nosed, upper class twat.

Jcorp67 1 year ago
Are you purposfully missing the point or just being thick Jcorp? You said -
"State welfare takes away the incentive to work and produce something."
so why not the inherited fortunes of the rich. Or corporate welfare? The fraction of 1% who own everything worth owning. Whats their incentive?
Who says the owners of the means of production create wealth? You could be getting rich from the proceeds of arms manufacturing or copper mining and never leave your beach house in the Hamptons.
Alimantado91 1 year ago
@Alimantado91 First of all the conversation will be civil or it will end. Is that clear? You may not like what I say but you will show the courtesy and respect I have shown you. The incentive for those who own business is the profit motive.
If I am an owner of stock in x then I am getting wealthy on the labor of others and I have no problem with that. x is still producing.
If I own my own business, and over 80% of US business is small privately owned companies then I am creating wealth.
Jcorp67 1 year ago
@Alimantado91 I don't agree with your point. That does not mean I'm missing it.
If you look at the welfare programs in the US you will find that since creation in 1969 they have not prevented or eliminated poverty. The overall poverty rate has hovered between 12-14% for over 40 years now.
Yet from 1959-1969 the overall poverty rate dropped from 25% to 12%.
In many households that are on welfare you will find several generations of single mothers (mostly) all of them on welfare.
Jcorp67 1 year ago
@Alimantado91 You don't need to reply back to me because the conversation is going nowhere. Rather then have it come to the point of not being civil I think it's best to end it.

brilliant harry , you really summed up labour there , too many years since labour got in and lets face it , this country is now crawling
mickoughton 1 year ago
Greece, Italy, Spain, and Portugal are examples of where Socialism goes awry. You cannot afford al those programs.
State welfare takes away the incentive to work and produce something.
Look at welfare in the US. Since anti poverty programs like section 8 housing and cash programs the poverty rate has stayed near or at the 12% level for the past 40 years. The funnty thing is that the p[overty levels in the US went from 25% in 1959 down to around 12% in 1969.
Jcorp67 1 year ago
Ha ha. Indonesia, Nigeria, Mexico, Honduras, India, Egypt, Bolivia, Sudan, Loas. El Salvador, Malawi, South Africa, Latvia, Ukraine etc etc etc on
and on is what happens when capitalism goes awry.
I suppose mass unemployment and poverty in the 19th and 20th century in the western world was caused by lazy workers lacking in incentives?
Inheriting vast unearned fortunes created off the backs of the labour of others is seen as a natural right for some. Can society afford such people?
Alimantado91 1 year ago
@Alimantado91 Capitalism is not perfect and I never said that. Problems in Capitalism eventually gets fixed. The problems in Socialism just seem to fester.
In most of the European countries, even before the crash, gdp growth was okay but , except for a few, not great. Meanwhile birth rates are low in many countries like Itlay that they cannot replace retiring workers and that will be a problem because the system relies on new workers replacing retiring workers.
Jcorp67 1 year ago
@Alimantado91 Unemployment in the 19 and early 20 century was due to many factors. The changeover from agriculture to heavy industry as an economic base, the lack of proper regulations (Smith never said no gov't interference)
Most of the millionaires in the UShave their own business and live very modestly. Perhaps they employ a few people. If I am wealthy why would I not want it to be passed down to my children and grandchildren?
Jcorp67 1 year ago
If your children and grandchildren inherit fortunes what is, as you say, their "incentive to work and produce something."?
Alimantado91 1 year ago
@Alimantado91 Because if they don't keep the business going then it doesn't produce. That's the incentive.
Jcorp67 1 year ago
@Alimantado91 and every nation you mentioned is a developing economy. Big difference between them and the US, France, Germany, Britain, Japana and China.
Jcorp67 1 year ago
As every slave knew, being a wealth creator doesn't make you wealthy. The goods and services that workers produce belong not to them, but to their bosses. In the very process of producing things, the working class also reproduces the wealth of the capitalists.
Microsoft workers don't just develop software, they also develop Bill Gates's immense riches, and his power over themselves. Workers' daily activity under capitalism reproduces the ruling class, its profits and its control.
Alimantado91 1 year ago
@Alimantado91 And Mr. gates rewards them very well with generous paychecks and other perks.
By the way the bulk of the fortunbe gets turned over to the charity upon death.
I have seen what Socialism's cousin, Communism, has done. Which is pretty much nothing. Except for the deaths of at east 50-60 million under Mao and Stalin.
Look at all those former Communist countries adopting Captalism. They just have to deal with the birth pains. You want equality at the lowest common denominator.
Jcorp67 1 year ago
I want the democratic crontrol of the means of production and production to meet human need.
I've travelled all over the world, and it's most striking feature is massive inequality. The countries i've mentioned are capitalist in the true sense of the word. No welfare to provide disincentives.
36 million people die each year from hunger in a world of plenty. That's 1 a second. How many people people died of obesity in the US last year?
Alimantado91 1 year ago
It's amazing how people on the left say they want "democratic control" but in order to achieve that there must be a dictatorship because not everyone see things their way. The DPRK? That's a reeal joke.
The countries you have mentioned are developing. They are not truly Capitalist. They have economic inequality due to religious, political, and social issues.
As I said earlier the problem with Socialism is that eventually you run out of other people's money- Margaret Thatcher.
Jcorp67 1 year ago
36 million die from hunger and what are the reasons for that hunger? I will have to check the numbers because people like to overstate.
I would love to bring people up to my standard of living. I will not lower myself to theirs. There will always be haves and have nots for many reasons.
No equality at the lowest common denominator.
It's no coincidence that the greatest advances in human history have happened under capitalism. A system that rewards innovation, hard work, and creative thinking
Jcorp67 1 year ago
Surely hunger, poverty and inequality can't be laid at the door of the economic system that dominates the world can it? Lets just blame human weakness for not interpreting the IMF holy gospels correctly.
Like Reagan, Thatcher presided over the largest redistribution of wealth in the industrialised world. From the majority into the hands of the very people that have gambled and created the crisis unfolding now. Have you not noticed LA's army of middle class homeless? 70 thousand and climbing.
Alimantado91 1 year ago
@Alimantado91 Again you quote numbers that I will have to verify.
The wealth was never in the majoprity of peoples hands. If you look at the IRS you will see that in the US the top 10% of wage earners pay over 60% or more of personal income taxes.
The current crisis began 10 years ago when the US repealed the Glass Steagal act which was the last of the depression era laws to regulate bnanking. Liberals and Conservatives all followed that one.
Jcorp67 1 year ago
@Alimantado91 You mean hunger, poverty, and inequality have nothing to do with the political and cultural factors within nations? It's all economic.
I never said anything about numbers relating to official enemies. I believbe that you're mistaking me for somebody else. If you're not well then you're just manufacturing stuff.
I also should say I don't live in LA so I would not notice.
Reagan and Thatchers policies pulled both nations from the brink of economic collapse.
Jcorp67 1 year ago
@Alimantado91 The United States and Britain have grown tremendously in the past 30 years since Reagana nd Thatcher began their eras.
Right now things are bad but eventually they will get better.
I would certainly blame many of those who are poor in the US for their own fates. I have seen it firsthand how they expect services froim the gov't but pay very little if anything in taxes and then get angry. There is no incentive for them to better their lives because Uncle Sam is doing it all.
Jcorp67 1 year ago
You seem very familiar with the numbers relating to "official enemies". How brave. Reminds me of this quote from Orwell -
"The nationalist not only does not disapprove of atrocities committed by his own side, but he has a remarkable capacity for not even hearing about them"
Alimantado91 1 year ago
@Alimantado91 and this pretty much describes anybody on the extreme left or right.
Jcorp67 1 year ago
@Alimantado91 I want the ability to meet more then the basic needs of people and Capitalism provides that. Not Socialism not Communism.
Capitaism is the worst economic system there is except for the other 2.

Just what I was thinking! They are a disaster waiting to happen ... better the devil you know to get us out of the current mess caused by those b(w)ankers.
Cameron is patronising in his rubbish ideas and condescending in his attitude .....And a potential lightweight on the world stage (as Obama has already stated).
pulsehouse 1 year ago

I certainly am not, as you so eloquently put it, taking the p*ss. You certainly sound like the type of working class folk that I was referring to. The working class are less intelligent, as demonstrated by your uncouth vocabulary and your inability to construct a coherent sentence.
