@cidin3 Apologies for what I wrote, I misinterpreted your comment. Please forgive my confusion. However, it remains true that hydrogen gas is produced by the action of a works bomb. The irritating fumes that linger are those of hydrogen chloride. Again I'd like to apologize to you because I thought you were against this type of experiment. Your works bomb was very impressive.

@andeaver1937 Works bombs DO NOT produce hydrogen gas. Works contains hydrogen chloride which reacts with the foil and creates CHLORINE GAS, a weapon used in Chemical Warfare and a Federal Crime to do be harnessing like this. Hitler used Chlorine Gas on the Jews. Breathe close to a big works bomb after its blown, you'll feel your lungs start to burn. for those of you who can not get the works or drano find caustic soda it is the crystalized grain form and use that along with water and tin foil i love to mess around with these you can make homemade nads from them and some of them bang louder than an average firework.

@laxislife100 ya basically any drain cleaner (not the liquid but the crystals, and you can some times get lye at grocery stores but i got mine at a local hardware store). But you shouldnt be making this kind of bomb anyways. That stuff splatters, and is VERY harmful to anything living. I just slipped a balloon over the top of the bottle instead of screwing a cap on. Now you can tie the balloon, and tape any kind of fuse to it. It'll create a huge fireball when the hydrogen is ignited.
