Both voices are beutiful. When listening to it in the series I'll sometimes switch languages during the some dependant on which I want to here. They are both beutiful one being in Japanese doesn't make it automatically the only good version.
There's a time and place for everything. The Japanese version is quite good, but i think that the English version is also very well sung and the voice suits it. :D
I've actually just watched this series a few months ago and I had the strangest urge to listen to the song.. I still love it, its so beautifully done. *I've listen to the japanese version, and it was really good as well* ^_^
does ANYONE know where i can get this song in english?? I heard this almost 10 years ago and I fell in love with this song..and I want to be able to own it...can someone help me?!
Yes and no. I don't think anyone made a dubbed soundtrack for the OVA let alone made this song availble fo purchase. However, copy the URL for this page (if it says &?feature=related, omit that), and go to a video to mp3 converter. look for it on google, the one you will want is browser based, should be on first page. Technically in this case it is perfctally legal since no one ever made RoLW soundtracks here, and the lisence for the OVA probably expire.
KIttyCat7860-- Yeah, just download it. If all else fails, you could try a FireFox plug-in or the new Realplayer version to download the video. It wouldn't be audio only, so if you want just the song, then you'd have to use something else. You could just find an anime song website, though.
The Japanese, but to me I just feel as if the smoothness in the voice of the English singer complements the background music as oppose to the high pitched and youthful voice of the original Japanese singer..
Yeah I watched the Japanese version first because I was a Japanophile who took Japanese because anime op/endings sounded cool. However looking back on it, the song makes entirely no sense when translated to English from Japanese, and the singer is really not powerful enough for this song.
I'm not sure you actually heard the original Jap version.. Comparing the two you can hear the strength in the voice of the English vocalist as oppose to the Jap. The original although wonderfully done has a more timid and yet high pitched voice similar to artist such as PUFFY and the woman of KARA (Korean I know but their voices are similar). It's a voice that can not hit certain notes and can only stay on one lvl.
Although I agree the song really dose not make much sense you have to take note that if it were sung with the original lyrics the song would sound even worse.. The lyrics would be to long and it wouldn't have fit the BG music unless drastically edited.. They do the same for dubs of characters.. In order to match the lip movement there are parts that must be edited.
I agree with you that the japanese voice sounds more timid and smaller. I really like both. I was just in the mood for this version. Its a pretty good arrangement of the lyrics. Though I also like the way the japanese singer does it.
Thank you very much for uploading this version of the song. I will never understand why anyone would prefer the Japanese version of the opening or ending theme; the English singer is so much stronger (as well as being able to sing on pitch), and the addition of harmony to the English versions of the themes makes the music all the richer.
I have been looking for this for a very long time. Thank you so much for uploading it.
i have to say that i do prefer japanese version, which sounds more sentimental, but for me this song is the first japanese song to be wonderfully dubbed in English, not failin in appealling to me. I love the english version very much too.
i like when she breaks it down. she's a great singer. an example where the english is much better than the jap version

This is the first time I've thought the dub was superior. Even the Italian dub for the ending is supurb.
