  • I have no problem rescuing wildlife at all. I have a problem when animals are put down and not given a chance. Writing off a life. We wouldn't do that to a human. I have rescued my own fair share of wild animals that would have been written off as a lost cause by vets including a magpie that was attacked by a bird and left for dead, leg missing feathers ripped out the lot. He didnt eat for 5 days, just lay there taking water by a drip feeder. I released him back into the wild 9 months later.

  • Absolutely no right to interfere they should have left the deer with the mother. The baby would have had more comfort dying with it's mother.

  • @poppadompeach Really? How do you figure? Its more comfy to starve to death? Or to die from internal injuries? Make sure you wear an emergency bracelet that says "if i'm injured, DO NOT provide me with medical care, my mom will comfort me".

We have saved 1000's of animals that would have died if left alone or suffered for days, its called compassion!

  • @Wildrsq Compassion is putting it down?Quick fix.Who knows it may have survived if left. I have witnessed some miracles where it comes to animals. Its not up to people to interfere they are wild. The mother wants to stay with her baby people deprived her and the baby of their last moments together. Baby would have been more stressed without mom in its last hours and poor thing was killed anyway. If people wanna live out side of nature fine but dont assume every other creature wants to.

  • In this instance YOU KNEW the animal couldn't be saved and STILL TOOK IT whilst mom franticly looked on, yeah nice one. If you cared so much why not perform surgery?would a human baby be out down? Why not stay close by and let the mother see her baby? or give it pain killers? I would put in the effort and have in the past. Found animals like this very similar situation who by sciences standards would have been put down who lived on because time was taken to mend them.

  • @poppadompeach I took this deer to a State Licensed Wildlife Veterinarian that works with State and Federally licensed Wildlife Rehabbers. She did everything possible to save this deer. I had this deer to the vets office within 20 minutes.

  • @Wildrsq If you had been just hit by a car and had a head trauma would you be up and about walking? You'd need time to recover but the truth is modern science doesn't give a shit about animals. Proof is that we don't put children down who get hit by cars. And in that case let baby stay with mom if you are going to kill it anyway because at least it may have had a chance with her because it had no chance with a vet did it?

  • @poppadompeach You should check out some of my other videos on youtube(80+). I volunteer to rescue sick, injured and orphaned wildlife and i'm part of a large network of people across this state that do the same. We are all volunteers, do NOT get paid/no tax money and do this almost every day, sometimes 3-4 times a day. Why do you have a problem with rescuing wildlife?

  • @poppadompeach And I ABSOLUTELY have the right to provided immediate transport for sick, injured and orphaned wildlife! Who do you think you are?

  • @Wildrsq This deer it was put down not saved. Big difference, why not at least hang about and see how the mom responds to the baby leave them a lone for a few hours and then act? She obviously wanted to be with her baby. Animals have their own ritualistic behavior look at hippos and elephants, meercats. They mourn the dead like we do and try to help where they can they are not stupid. Now no one will know if the baby would ever recover because nature didn't take it's life a person did!

  • Yes I agree SAVE the animals if they can be saved but the last place to take an animal who seems to have all limbs working and is crying out for mom is to be put down. So we'll just but all living things down including humans against their will, what a caring world. And the description says MAY have been hit by a car so did anyone really know what was wrong with it? And where's the road or traffic noise? if the baby got to that spot on its own accord? Just a sorry situation,

  • @poppadompeach This deer was in this position for 24+ hours before we were allowed to attempt a rescue. The people that called us watched this deer for 2 days scoot across their front yard on its side(same position as the video shows). At the end of the video , I spin the camera around and you can clearly see my truck sitting on the side of the road. Dr.G sedated this deer, took xrays, performed an exam and determined this deer would never survive the head trauma, blood in the eyeballs, ears,.,

  • @poppadompeach It was a sad situation. This video was filmed 3 years ago and since then we have successfully rescued, rehabbed and released 1000's of other wildlife ,including countless other deer(yes, some of them do die, we CAN'T save all of them, but we try). We hate it when a animal dies, we also hate seeing a animal suffer because of man. Getting hit by a car isn't nature IMO.

  • @poppadompeach No right to interfere! You have no right to drive a car and interfere with the wild life habitat. Grow up we human's interfere all the time it's all we do. So why can we go hunt but not help them live?

  • once when i was like 14 i saw a really badly injured deer on the side of the road. both its legs at the ankle were just attached by skin so i moved the deer onto the road and this guy stopped and called someone then these 2 guys came with a truck and tried to catch the deer. it was dragging itself with its front legs and trying to get up but it couldnt because its back legs were cut off below the ankles

  • Thats so nice you rescue animals!!! :D Poor baby deer :(

  • uughh this breaks my heart!.....sooo sad

  • i can't even watch this. It's so sad. I don't treat animals better than humans (well...most of the time i dont) but i feel that we should all use compassion and do what was given to us and not them. The power to heal or help pass on. Not to sound all hippy but these animals that are on your videos are truly fortunate to have you to watch over them. Although..we can not save them all we can sure as hell try.

  • oh poor deer:(:(

  • its in ingerd do u know that dude yuo shoud of carry is in the cover blanket and put it in the back of your truck and take it to the ranger or police that is in charge of the place that u are at and see wat they can try to do im not saying they can fix it you never know but ur still kind of covering it but it was hot and you put the bigg deer in that small thing no thats not right u should of got a bigger one

  • @DarthtaterII The police or a ranger wont fix the deer, they would just shoot it. I had the deer to a Veterinarian within an hour. I rescue animals for a living. The carrier i used is perfect for that size deer. You don't want an animal that is that strong to be able to move around too much

  • @lionsforlyons

If you have a problem with this animal suffering, perhaps you should call the CDOW(Colorado Division Of Wildlife) and complain to them because I was there 20 minutes after i got the call and had the deer to a licensed Vet in less than an hour, while the CDOW said to wait 24 hours to let "nature" take its course, per DOWS orders.

  • @lionsforlyons I'm sorry but I don't carry any weapons with me ever. Usually I have my 8 year-old son with me when I am rescuing animals and that's the key "Rescuing Animals"! That's what i do! I would like to teach him(my son) compassion and giving another living thing a chance, if there is a chance.

  • This animal obviously had nuerological damage.

  • Obviously.

  • Comment removed

  • Wildrsq: I don't care what the other posters say you did a good thing.

Watching how you handled the animal with care was quite amazing.

    Cheers from Canada

  • Thanks

    Cheers

  • should have just shot it....obviously it wasnt going to live.....just prolonged her misery & pain

  • I'd have just shot it.

  • Really koolaidman007 ? Remember that next time you or something you care about is injured. Hopefully the people you deal with will show more compassion than you have, for your sake. What's the big deal? I volunteer to rescue injured animals, the vets volunteer to fix the animals and the rehabbers volunteer to rehab them. No tax money is used ever, no help from the state ever, very few people donate any money and we do it all for free. Maybe you should volunteer some time?

  • I volunteer at a No Kill ferret shelter, and all my ferrets are from there, I donate regularly.

My area is really over populated with deer. They're driving other species to starvation because the only predators in the area are coyotes which obviously cannot kill a deer. So the herd has to be thinned. Kill 1 save 100, around here its not worth putting the resources into saving a deer that is likely to be shot anyway.

  • Try and volunteer for an organization that deals with native/local wildlife (I also volunteer for a sugar glider rescue)!!! The only reason we have problems with wildlife is because of man's interference ,deer included ! Seeing you are only 16, I understand that you are blind to the facts and experience to come to an educated conclusion. Nature can and does manage itself. This deer was hit by a car(thats not nature).

  • @Wildrsq actually im kinda with him. if a deer is in misery like that there is no point in prolonging his pain. all it takes is a 3 cent 9mm bullet and the poor thing is off to heaven. I could tell he probably wasnt going to be able to be fixed up

  • Sorry I rescue animals, not kill them. I let the Vet decide if it should be put down. The people that called don't want its brains blown out right in front of them, which is good because I don't want the responsibility of doing that. Plus I don't have a gun.

  • you dont splatter its brains everywhere... you shoot him one in the heart or other vitals and hes down for good. i just dont like seeing the animal suffering any longer than it has to....

  • the humane thing to do would have been shot it.....not prolong its suffering

  • The humane thing would have been letting us get it 24 hours earlier(it laid there for 24 hours,i had it to the vet in 20 min!!!). Not to mention the legal issues with discharging a firearm in the city.

  • true, thats just torture for the deer over petty legislation laws

  • Wow, this made me cry. I feel bad for the little deer and the mommy having to see her little one hurt. What is wrong with the wildlife division? That was really cruel of them to make you wait 24 hours to rescue that little deer. Shame on them!! Thanks for trying to save him/her.

  • poor deer

  • That's stupid they made you wait 24 hours to help it, if it was a human, they'd have not even made a hesitation to allow you to help.

  • I dont get it (as a city slicker) whats the point of all that effort to rescue and possibly rehabilitate one wounded deer? So he can get hit again, or shot by a hunter a year later? Someone pls explain why its necessary to call the Wildlife division

  • Its called compassion for another life. The poor deer wasn't robbing anyone,or doing drugs or looking for someone to rape or murder (people would try to save one of those people if they were injured). It was being a deer walking/running through a forest. Our wildlife should be respected and WE should take care of them when they need help.

  • Good job man. i once saw an armadillo that had been wounded, maybe by a dog. It was laying by the road, inches from traffic and no one but me stopped to pull it to safety. I had a clipboard in my car that i used as a tiny stretcher, i rolled him onto it just like a paramedic does. Then i called the city and they sent some dick with a truck, he picked it up by the tail and tossed it in. Then he told me he'd drop it in the local park, with his injury and all. i was crying-no medical help for it?

  • Well said

  • I 'm amazed that "a city slicker" would have no idea.

  • Good job. Pity nobody helped you put the deer into the cage.

  • Thank you. The real pity is not allowing anyone to help for 24 hours. I have rescued lots of deer, getting them into a carrier isn't that hard. I rather have anyone around watch so momma doesn't charge me.

  • aww poor thing

  • aww thats soo sad :(

  • why are you covering him all up with cloth?

  • To calm him down.

  • why can't it stand up?

  • He had a serious head injury.
