  • I love the half assed leaf throw at 1:24

  • SLOSHY!

  • One of the best videos ever

  • That "you're my fact checking cuz" line just sounds so forced to me.

  • @ShreddyGnarGnar shut up pavement rocks and the line is funny, its not like the song is actually about anything!

  • Cake ripped em off huge.

  • @AsmodelSoljah don't know who cake are but this sounds like a pixies rip off to me!

  • Pavement 4 life people!

  • I love how these guys are trying really hard to look like they're not trying hard.....love this song :)

  • Weezer's first two albums are awesome and then there's like 2 or 3 songs on each of the albums after those that are good.

  • I really, really want to eat some cheerios right now

  • when the guitar first comes in it's my favourite guitar first coming in

  • can everybody please shut the fuck up about weezer?

  • lyrical genius. so much to chuckle at.

  • Not to Burst Any Weezer Fans Bubble, But "Pavement" Formed in 1989

Weezer formed in 1992 Thats A 3-4 Year Difference -Depending on the Month-

So If Any Ones Copying Anyone "Pavement" and Weezer are Copying The RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS!! Lol Just Kidding. But Seriously Weezer Would Be Copying "Pavement" That's Even if They Heard of "Pavement" at The Time. lol Cuz Weezer is More of a Todays Generation Sort of Band -Maybe- and "Pavement" Wasnt All Mainstream/Todays Generation Type of Shit Just Saying

  • wait for the camera they took a giant ram rod and raised the demon settlememnt

    enimimeniment

  • I actually listened to pinkerton and thought it was pretty good soooo....nevermind

  • I think the first hipster movement was an act of counter culturalism

but sooner or later the counter culture becomes the culture

And if the magic came from it being counter cultural then you can't just do the same thing 15 years later and expect it to be as good

I think pavement was perfect for the context they were in

  • just enjoy the damn thing its a great freakin song, pavement is to me like led zep and all the 70's rock is to my parents.

i grew up listening to that shit... n its tight, bring me back to those teen years and i like that

  • That gold watch is so pimp.

  • I don't know who started the Weezer vs. Pavement argument, but they should be shot. I hold Weezer in high regard up until Maladrot, after which, they became very hit and miss, but I still like them. That's four very solid albums, most bands can barely make one.

Pavement, on the other hand is a corner stone of 90s slacker rock, BUT, I do think a lot of their fans often squander their time analyzing their contributions to alternative rock and hating on naysayers.

    Just keep it clean, folks.

  • @ZyxthePest You deserve top comment.

  • I have loved both Weezer and Pavement for years - and er, sorry I don't really see any comparison at all. Weezer are a cool and quirky college indie rock band, with loads of great hooks. Pavement are slacker indie rock progenitors, and usually much darker in sound. Pavement almost NEVER sounded earnest (songs like Stereo are artful pisstakes), whereas Weezer were at times endearingly earnest. RIP Mikey Welsh too! If you are gonna listen folks, listen close!

  • pavement came before weezer...

  • I think if I absolutely had to choose, I'm sorry to say that i would probably choose Weezer. BUT if you're not making me choose I would say I like them both equally for different reasons. Wait, that makes no sense. oh well....

  • I cannot understand the argument comparing pavement and weezer... pavement = brilliant... weezer = shite, no comparison.... like comparing beatles to my dogs arse

  • @davexxxxy Most dogs like their ass quite a bit and probably don't like the Beatles that much, being dogs and all.

  • why must we dwell in a world where on every pavement video there must be a comparison with weezer?

no, seriously. Do you see weezer fanboys comparing weezer to pavement? in fact, i bet weezer fanboys would enjoy pavement.

  • @animemefreak74 hey, pavement is my favorite band of all time, i've only listened to weezer's pinkerton + blue album (and stuff they have on the radio). However, I must admit, the first time I heard "Carrot Rope" off terror twilight I thought it reminded me of Weezer. That's the only song its rly happened to me for though. Probably because of how Ibold's vocals go with Malkmus' and the mood of the song

  • "and he's my fact checkin' cuz-" my wife always used to think it said somethin' about Fat chicks-lol!!!

  • the leaves in that tree are fakeeexD

  • This might be my favorite thing ever.

  • love the random cereals yeah

  • look up "80's bastard" by atom and his package on grooveshark total throwback to this little bit of awesome.

  • love pavment yo

  • cool

  • I've spent years wondering who the f*** is Geddy Lee. That was before the internet.

  • I love Stephen!!!!

  • this is 1997 and idiots call it hipster?? WTF??... grow the fuck up you fucking kids! next thing you know they're going to start calling No Knife hipster music. ps Weezer sucks balls now, Rivers can go suck on a huge one

  • cheerios <3

  • I would sell my soul (or the equivalent) to play guitar like this. Ok, my unborn children then....

  • best band band ever. if that statement doesn't get top comment wtf?

  • theyre just so average its freaking awesome

  • I freaking love the Cheerio shots. I'm hungry.

  • This is the best Cheerio comercial I've ever watched!

  • 1:06 is actually hilarious

  • @JustinKungPowChicken

both of you shut the truck up

  • I like some of pavements stuff I have to pick and choose though!! The only problem I have with them is his pussy ass singing if this shit was instrumental it would be better

  • uhh their first record was ok... It was kiddie pop.. on the heals of the new Alternative wave that was passing thorugh... they were considered "Posers".. but that first record and Pinkerton was bearable.. better than hearing Bon Jovi on the radio.

Still Pavement, light years ahead of them...

  • why is this so good? Why am I enjoying the stuff in my more obnoxious states of mine I would literally scream "this is hipster garbage!"

thank you for makin me question my worldview and sexuality. This video is hilarious

  • weezer= sellouts

  • whatevr why do you think the top rated comment on here is '' god they're white''

  • @smokingplates because the color of their skin is white... i didn't know white sounded "bad slow dull with no rhythm". i think you might be right! white people music IS all a 'sham'! fuck the beatles, forget led zepplin, throw away your david bowie lp's, nirvana cd's, foo fighters mp3's. white people sound bad slow and dull with no rhythm. you win.

  • wow this bad slow dull . no rhtym in this music. its so bad the guy just talks the lyrics . they know they its all a sham . its like if took kids from the 50s and threw tem in te 90s

  • @smokingplates i-di-ot

  • @smokingplates if you knew anything about music and the techniques used by post punk and progressive bands you would know that spoken word is commonly used and nonsyncopated beats are also often used often to create dissonance forcing the listener to focus more. maybe if you actually listened to music instead of eating out of the hands of the industry you would know that

  • @jross7394 i dont look for music with nonsyncopated beats so that i have to try harder to like songs... I dont fucking bother with any technical bullshit either. Im not a music major. No surprise I don't like this song, but dont accuse me of "eating out of the hands of the industry", I have a broad taste in music and my favorite bands are not mainstream at all. I hate it when people get zealous, so to you I say fuck you! im not hating on the song though. Just jross7394 the musical zealot.

  • @magua4 1. it has nothing to do with "trying harder" it has to do with not being a hipster. 2.my response was hardly zealous. 3. i'm not asking you to like the song, only to refrain from claiming it is a "sham" just because you don't like it

  • @magua4 Then why are you here? GO AWAY if you don't like it.

  • i dont kno what it is...but for some reason steve malkmus reminds me of jim carrey..

  • "whiter than weezer"

  • i wonder how much cheerios paid pavement

  • What about the voice of geddy lee? How did it get so high? I wonder if he speaks like an ordinary guy? (I know him, and he does!)

  • @JuliaMartinsJonas123 Then you're my fact-checking cuz. (Aww..)

  • @JuliaMartinsJonas123 before i even watched this video i knew this would be a top rated comment.

  • @sHART1780

    hahaha, why???

  • @JuliaMartinsJonas123 because whenever I talk to anyone about Pavement they always say it.

  • @JuliaMartinsJonas123

    Then you're my fact-checking cuz!

  • @JuliaMartinsJonas123 and you're my fact-checking cuz

  • What the fuck with the squirrel?

  • I never thought Cheerios could be so erotic.

  • 62 people have a phobia of cereal

  • back when sporting a beard wasn't so "hip"

  • @mothball50 Beards are sexy

  • I've loved this song for years. One of my favorite all-time. I wish had not seen this video, as it is shockingly bad! One of the worst ever. Oh, the duality.

  • They're like weezer except they don't suck asshole

  • @manrayer88 you're such an idiot.

  • @manrayer88 go choke on a fat one

  • @manrayer88 why does weezer suck asshole?

  • @manrayer88 Hey weezer use to be good.... ya know back in like 1994..... ya know before they sucked assholes..

  • @lickapotato I cant recall a time Weezer didnt suck asshole... they sucked in 93...

  • @micklokking Oh well thats a shame you hate them so much. I think weezer use to be brilliant, obviously their new stuff sucks dick, but songs like across the sea continue to move me I don't know how many years later.

  • @manrayer88 Weezer's first two albums are great. Don't be a hipster.

  • @manrayer88 Weezer shits on these guys, bad quality, no catchy melodies, simple guitar riffs, sounds like ass.

  • @MCskittle23

    umad

  • @MCskittle23 Pavement is twice the band that Weezer could ever hope to be.

  • @manrayer88 whaaa?! weezer are fuckin class

  • @rossomaguire17 Pavement held up the same level of quality for 10 years. Weezer on the other hand...didn't. The Blue Album is as good as Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain (my 2nd favorite Pavement album), but that's about all Weezer has going for them.

  • @manrayer88 the first two weezer albums were amazing! how dare you!

  • @manrayer88

obviously someone who doesnt know shit

  • @manrayer88

also, weezer actually has lyrics to their songs that mean shit.

pavement is just random shit that doesnt make sense

  • @MrHahachicken

without indulging myself in elaboration, because there is no way anything will convince you, you just simply don't understand lyrics like pavement. that may sound pretentious, and perhaps it is, but some things even then, are still, just fucking true. enjoy more poopy fastfood weezer tho, by all means.

  • @DiMiTripz I'm a fan of both, and I really don't understand the 'Pavement vs. Weezer debate' at all. It's not like they were rivals, or anything close to that. And eventhough Cuomo's songwriting is different from Malkmus', that doesn't make Cuomo's shitty. Keep in mind I'm talking about 90s Weezer, not the 21st century bullshit that they've become. Anyways, the lyrics on Pinkerton are some of the best from the 90s, and I wouldn't call them 'poppy fastfood', not by a long shot.

  • @MrHahachicken actually-it's more like art- and art doesnt have to make sense-and weezer has PLENTY of obscure and absurd lyrics as well- it's like a Dali painting-

what I dont understand is the feud these guys and Billy Corgan and the Smashing Pumpkins have with each other-they are like children on the play ground-they snipe at one another in the press-on albums-also this is the ONLY album I LIKE -and I own several-

  • @manrayer88 Other way around. These guys sound like they're trying to make shit music.

  • @manrayer88 pavement came first, 1989, weezer like 92..

  • @alabasterslade Pardon my pronouns

PAVEMENT is like weezer except PAVEMENT don't suck asshole

  • You know when i listen to Pavement now i hear alot of Flipper in their music. I wonder if they liked Flipper.

  • But did you hear about Blue Zoltan getting fired?

  • Kinda like an American Blur....

  • i dont really like pavement. i am finding their songs a bit dull.

  • 61 people should hit the pavement

  • I sing this every time I eat Cheerios. "shut the fuck up!" is my answer if anyone interrupts me during the process.

    2) how sound and shot at 1:07 don´t fit at all.

    3) 1:37 Cornflakes till Squirrel

    4) general golden watch pomposity

  • thumbs up for GEDDY LEE!!!!

  • awesome cornflakes but you could have done a better song

  • @65daysofAphex

Dude, you don't even know your cereals...

  • @65daysofAphex Cornflakes? You're commenting on the wrong video!

  • @65daysofAphex I love 65days, Aphex, *and* Pavement. Get right in your thinking.

  • @65daysofAphex

Those are some odd, Cheerio-shaped cornflakes.

  • @ironchef42 Enslavement.

  • Probably Pavement's only non-terrible video :p

  • so who likes 2pac?

  • @1000chris me... but biggie is a lot better, and yes, i like pavement too...

  • y'know what would be really cool? it'd be really cool if they made a video for this song, that would be really, really, freakin' cool.

  • love that bass line

  • stereo!!

  • I love pretzels with milk, I'll buy some good idea haha

  • power pop at its best

  • I eat cherrios for breakfast because of this video.

  • @thegermanchannel212 I think it would be more like anything Modest Mouse did is very Pavementy.

  • @thegermanchannel212 or wouldn't it be that anything Modest Mouse did was very Pavementy?

  • @thegermanchannel212 Modest Mouse came after, as long as you realize this, sure.

  • I have no idea what their singing about but they sound good
