@saberbasir I think it was a little ahead of its time. Kind of like Gargoyles you had major storylines, that could get seriously heavy with real consequences. I mean in ExoSquad they had deaths of major characters, a budding romanace and cliffhangers. In Gargoyles Elisa was shot, Goliath went on the warpath looking for those he thought responsible, the two had romance starting up when the series ended. If you're lucky you'll get ES on DVD

Proof that American Anime can be alot better than Japanese Anime when it wants to be, no fighting prepubescent kids and stupid mysterious characters with ridiculous powers who never smile here. Just death, love and the grittiness of war. Too bad at the time it was looked at as a "cartoon" because it was anything but that. the Neosapians were right to hate humans and thats the sign of a great drama.

There was actually supposed to be a crossover between Exosquad and Robotech. It might have worked if the Neos had been green skinned, but the writers could never get a decent story together.

A kickass series with a awesome intro. The only downside is the show seemed to have been canceled on a cliffhanger. Even if some company made a TV movie that takes place after the last episode, it will most likely lack the charm of the original show. Never the less, follow up would be awesome.

I watched the series on Hulu, I never realized it when I watched as a kid but I can't believe how much of an idiot Admiral Winfield is. One of his men (a jerk) disobeyed his orders and he still let him keep his job! Then the jerk mutinied and the whole fleet ended up getting destroyed as a result! Winfield is the worst.

Just bought it today. This was one of the cartoons I wished they'd never killed. What I really loved about this toon, was they took elements from Gundam and let people die on this show. Great story, great artwork, excellent soundtrack. One of the better cartoons that should have been allowed to continue.

Yea. Japanese animation had and still does have more realistic personalities! Even when it is oriented to children. The best animated series of all time Dragon Ball Z is about (if not older) than I am is a good example. In american cartoons they never say "kill." They say destroy. More often than not if the bad guy wants to kill somebody, they simply kill the fools. Remember how they brought back Opt. Prime in Transformers? GI Joe Movie where Duke was killed off, they changed it?

True but remember, in Transformers, they did kill off 2/3rds of the pre-movie Autobots in the movie and they never came back except for Optimus of course. It also goes back to the notion that here in the States, toons historically have been for kids while in Japan, it's taken more seriously.

Unfortunately the current adult swim cartoons (and similar) are just kid's stuff with some adult extras, but they lack the dept of old cartoons such as Exo Squad, Batman: TAS, Gargoyles.

@morbidanjel44 This was awesome when it aired & its still awesome today. I only have 2 complaints, the 1st that this show was canceled on a cliffhanger & the 2nd, is that the 2nd season was not released on DVD. Fortunately you can find the 2nd season on IMDB.com & Hulu.com.

the bad thing is all the offical ones are on VHS. Universal is being stupid, they can easily do this series justice and bring it out on DVD with a few extras, (like all the trading cards, what the direction the new season was heading and so on) i say your more likey to get better quality in torrenting the series.
