  • cant belive she said yes omg i love her gymnastics

  • she is amazing.. i cant wait until the london games!

  • She decided YES,......so happy. Can't wait.

  • the moms nice

  • welcome london Shawn

  • If she qualifies to compete she will compete it just depends on how she does at worlds and qualifiers I wish her all the best though

  • she will be competing in the 2012 olympics!!!!!!!!! im so excited to watch her perform again!!!!

  • shawn should definetly go shes the most amazing gymnast in the world i love her shes so young

  • awww can she hear me lol

  • I think she looks like her dad.. (:

  • I'm so glad her parents support her, not all parents are like that. She looks a lot like her mom btw...

  • awww her parents are the cutest

  • i love you my darling shawn!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • level 15 lol. I'm level 9 been doing gymnastics for 12 almost 13 years and as far as I know their isn't any such thing as level 15. and I am pretty sure I'm right....

  • @fatFRIESareAWESOME i think the maximum level is 11

  • WOULD SMASH HER FANNY

  • Ugh, I would hate to have my parents have that attitude...

  • I think it's nice that this is Shawn's dream and not the dream of her parents, they support her 100% but it's all about Shawn, not them... The way it should be...

  • I can't wait for her to start competing, but not for the reason some may think. I honestly think her massive success and always near perfect routines WONT be a reality for her 4 more years into the future....and I am happy for it. NOW she will have to fight more than ever to be on top. She won't be the youngest and freshest THIS time. I think it will be good for her and I think I may like her a bit more.

  • wow her parents are not very supportive...no wonder she dosen't want to come back and compete

  • @romaniankoko what do you mean they are not supportive? they are, it has just been so tough for them to watch her suffer and sacrifice so much for this sport, they want her to have a life!! but i can tell they'll be there for her, whatever she decides...

  • LVL 15 so immature -_____-

  • my goal is to be in the olympics in 2012 i will b i am a lvl. 15 gymnast i have been doing gymnastics since i was 2 years old so.....

  • haha, level 15...

  • so you mean like in in a gymnastics video game lol what you mean lvl 15 :)

  • my goal was to be in the 2008 olympics. had to quit when i was 14 tho :( had stress fractures in my back. i didnt know there was such a thing as level 15? lol weird. dont u have elite stages or anything?

  • jordynbartlett19, that is very common in gymnast and cheerleaders. My daughter and I both sustained identical fractures, but when you are young and that happens, you can take a season off to heal and maybe you can return. but I'm way to old to do that so now I am in Kajukenbo. and love that as much if not more that gymnastics.

  • yeah i thought it mite b common. more so these days than say 20 years ago anyway. gymnastics has become a very high impact sport. all about difficulty and tumbling rather than the artistry. i took a season off and kept trying to go back but my back never fully healed. 6 years later and its still not perfect (sigh) what is Kajukenbo?

  • @emoROX1231 there's is no level. 15. it goes up to 10 then its the elite levels

  • yeah im confused.. ive never heard of level 15. r u sure your not in some recreational programme or something? lol. and u cant tell any1 that your going to be in the olympics.. in this real world we live in(most of us), anything can happen. injuries, mistakes. u know?-life.

  • @emoROX1231 theres no lvl 15, so stop making stuff up. if u want any1 2 beleive u then post a video.

  • i am in love with her

  • by far,

is she the most amazing athelete i have ever seen in my life.

    and inspiration !!!!!!

  • I have to admire her poise at answering such a stupid question . She's about to compete in one Olympics and already being asked about the next one ?

She's already famous and totally awesome. Some of the Olympics rules are nonsense , and most of the judges are incompetent .

  • Choose gymnastics, pleasee, pleasse,

Shawn , you are the best gymnast in the world, please don't give up, i wanna see you in 2012!!!!

  • her parents are funny too they remind me of mine!

  • i think that its not that she doesn't have the passion anymore because obviously she loves what she does, but she accomplished her life long dream and goal and maybe that was the highlight of her career. She is a normal girl with a gift and she was meant to be in the spot light for a reason. She wants to go to college and build another career, but at least she will always have this huge event in her life to remember forever and cherish.

  • shawn cute!

  • its too bad that she decided to stop for now but i really thought that she would get back in the game. she odoesnt have any injuries so apparently she just likes her life without all th etraining.i dought that she will come back because she doesnt really seem to have the passion for it like nastia does. she just..... doesnt seem to love it like she used to. dont get me wrong, i love shawn but ya know, its a little bit... sad that alicia can come out of retirement but shawn wont.

  • i agree plus she's really out of shape now. frankly she's rather out of shape since dancing with the stars.

  • Shawn is a thick girl. Once you get older your body can betry you in many ways. So physical she won't be ready for 2012. How many twenty year olds do you see on the bars and beams? Alicia person you mention will probably have the same problem.

  • what about that one thirty year old gymnast I believe people who say your body can betray you as you get older is the excuse lazy people who have never done any physical activity have for being lazy

  • @650sFinnest Oksana Chusovitina - she was 32 and competed in the All-Around final in Beijing, and won a silver medal on the vault.

  • @brunettekoala thank you

  • @sweetheart2109 Cheng Fei (excluding bars)

  • @sweetheart2109 Alicia Sacramone - came back after retirement and shoulder surgery and then won the Gold on Vault at Worlds in 2010. Also Mohini Bhardwaj and Annia Hatch came back from injury and were in their mid 20s when they competed for USA in Athens. The current world champion on bars is in her mid 20s - Beth Tweddle. Not to mention that Svetlana Khorkina didn't become all-around world champion until her 3rd Olympic cycle.

  • i hope she does! shawn''s amazing!

  • Her dad is hilarious :)

  • Her parents arent mean, they just can't keep up with her schedule! lolol

  • her parents arent mean

  • she better go for it in 2012 or im gonna b mad wen the olympics come on i would get a pitcher of koolaid and watch all day and shes really cute

  • you are mean

  • she's still so young i hope she keeps going

  • Shawn should go to the 2012 olympics

  • @btidwell001 i agry with you

  • @btidwell001 she is! (:

  • I know she has a lot of talent and I would hate to see it go to waste after one olympics.

  • well the world is ending anyways...............

  • lol true

  • ....

    world chapms starts in October

  • I don't think she will. It is going to take her a lot of ime to get back into shape as an elite gymnast. And as of now she hasn't gotten backk to the gym, she is too busy being a celebrity. Everybody ends the sport sometime and right now may be the time thats best for her to end.

  • She will. She's not OUT of shape... lol she still is in elite gymnast shape.

  • She is no where near what shape she was in, during the olympics.

  • yes she isnt. but she still has over 3 years.

  • But it doesn't seem like she wants to come back. It might just be me but she just doesn't seem into it anymore...

  • hmm idk.

    i guess we will just

have to wait and see :/

  • ya ik right

  • aww shes so sweet, cute & quiet :)

  • No matter how much people talk about the extensive training that goes into gymnastics,

it still can't capture just how draining it can be, especially when it's as a road to the Olympics.

The reactions of Shawn's parents here are a good indication of that.

  • They are not morons just because they named their daughter shawn their are alot of people who are girls with the name shawn or jordan ect its their parents choice on what they name their child

  • i hope she competes i love her, shes so awesome

  • haha her dads like "no i dont!!" why would't he?????

  • its probally stressfull watching her and not being able to help her when shes out there

  • well they are plenty supportive, it's just difficult training for something like that. It takes a lot of work and cooperation from the parents and the gymnasts of course, it also costs a lot of money so i think thats why they may seem that way.

  • her dad looks like my baseketball coach

  • I can tell where she got her shape and looks from... her mother lol

  • Her parents don't seem as supportive as you would expect them to be :?

  • i think they just want her to do what she wants and that they'd be fine if she doesn't.

  • they are VERY supportive if SHE wants to do it. Obviously they don't want to be put through that pressure again, but if Shawn wants to, they are behind her all the way. Theu are not pushy parents, Shawn is doing the pushing.

  • She is a hot girl that I loved to watch when I was having a brain surgery so I was so happy whent she won gold. Hope to see her win gold in 2012!!!

  • OMG i fell so bad for her someone was trying to stalk her!

  • she should omg she'd win shes so amazing!

  • She Should I Think...

  • My girlfriend was an elite gymnast for years. It is extremely hard on the body. I would like to see Shawn come back in 2012 because she is amazing, but if she doesn't want to I totally support her. She deserves some rest! Let her be a normal kid!!!

  • You are a sick bastard ndanick21. She is 17!

  • totally agree. dude needs to get a life

  • i agree too..im sick of all of the perverted old men..

  • they probably cant get dates so they drool over a minor. it makes me sick im near her age but i dont think nasty things.

    they have issues

  • im 1 year younger than her..i think shes adorable but i never think anything perverted O_O its like what the hell is wrong with some of the men in America

  • your right. there are plenty of girls out there that are near our age or their age. its a shame that they cant see that. i feel sorry for shawn if she ever has to walk somewhere alone

  • yea she was sixteen last year.

  • i really hope she continues,

she's one of my favorite gymnasts EVER along with shannon miller & olga korbut!!! Shawn Johnson rocks!

  • i sure hope she comes back in 2012.

    She is my fave gymnast.

I wish her all the very best!!!!

    =]]

  • she is comming back for 2012. (:

Im excited. I met her!! :D

  • How was it meeting Shawn Johnson? I must know. lol

  • coming?

  • dude i deff. hope she goes back in 2012!!!

    shes my fav. gymnist!

    :]

  • gymmAst

  • gymnast lol both of u spelled it wrong

  • lol my bad

  • I hope she does compete she is good and should not let her talent go to waste and she could bring america to a high level but whatever her decition is we should respect it she trains hard everyday remember 4 hours wouldnt you feel tired and sore it seems fun but when you start going to the hospital no that happy anymore

  • desicion, man people spell bad here

  • i like how they ask if she's going to be in the next Olympics right after she's just won a bunch of medals in this one; i hope she competes, that would be reliving an awesome experience for her

  • i REALLY hop she will compete as i've always wanted to meet her but i live in England:( But if she competes u can bet i'll be there

  • hope

  • Hey guys, check out A FUNNY INTERVIEW WITH SHAUN JOHNSON PART 1 & 2. Shaun was honored in Beijing as the favorite athlete of the year and holds a place in the hall of fame. Shaun made a hand print and it was hung on the wall of fame. It was in Mandarin but Shaun answered in English through her coach's wife as translator. Her parents were there in the audience with a translator as well.

  • Just want to say sorry that I misspelled Shawn's name; had been a tough week.

  • can she hear me?

    that was funny.

  • i hope she does compete in 2012. i also hope the worl doesnt end in 2012. that wont be cool

  • hahahaha yeah

  • as long as she competes, the world wont end

  • yeh i know thats theres a person in youtube named SHAWNJOHNSONISABITCH all spam him!he hate micheal phelps to

  • she should compete... it would be cool seeing her

  • theres a guys name on youtube whos name is SHAWNJOHNSONISABITCH. go spam him.

  • spyhunter, shes just got home from the olympics. she has to be exausted give her a break.

  • well everything so far's paid off quite nicely dont cha think? :)

    best of wishes to shawn!

  • It's not only the fact that the sport is somewhat straining on life, it is also the fact that they had to mortgage their house THREE times! It cost them a lot of money just to get her to where she is now!

  • yea but you have to remember that now she is going to get even more endorsements than she had before, and she'll basically be able to pay for herself. also, i think i read in SI that the athletes got money from the us olympic committee for winning medals.

with that being said, the only thing that will keep her from competing in the 2012 games is herself. in my mind there are 3 posssibilities: either she gets hurt, loses her passion for the sport, or she'll go to the 2012 games

  • really they get money if they get medals i thought they only get money only if they made world records

  • Her parents must feel exhausted from everything. It's a long hard road and to do it all again will be so difficult. I think Shawn has another olympics left in her yet and her parents will be supporting her all the way.

  • I thought that her parents would be a little more supportive/enthusiastic about competing in 2012.Her parents will support her if she decides to compete in 2012 but right now I think they just want to take a little break. They will get that break in about 3 days when the Tour of Gymnastics Superstars starts.A 3 month, 40 city tour, that I am going to! It includes men and women from the 2008 Olympic Gymnastics Team. To get tickets go to Shawns website to find a link to where you can get tickets

  • even noticed tht shawn looks loads fittter whn she got her hair up?

  • wow ur a pig..

  • rofl

  • Their sporting life is very short and very easy to get injured in the process. Her parents just love her and don't want her to get hurt. They are parents, think from their view. Hope to see Shwawn in 2012

  • her parents don't seem as supportive as you'd expect. i get the whole thing about the risk of injuries and the cost of training but they're not very enthusiastic about it. i don't know i'm not saying they're not behind her.. but maybe no behind her as much as you'd expect..

  • Hey is that John Buccigross?

Anyway I hope that her parents don't pursuade her to not compete in 2012. I hope her body does hold up...

  • LOL kor88 yeah right

  • yeah, her parents seem to be like dems, i see now why she was on the DNC

  • i bet if she didn't win a gold in beijing she would def go to london to try again.

  • she better come to london town, i'll be waiting

  • dude kor88 she'll be lucky to be in the 2012 olympics forget about 2016 and 2020.........

  • took my name u suk lol jk

  • Oh I definitely think she'll be in 2012 and 2016 games, and hopefully the 2020.

  • in the 2012 games she will be 20. in the 2016 she will be 24 and the 2020 she will be 28. id think she will go!

  • yeah but as these gymnasts grow older, it becomes more and more difficult to train

for another 4 years for the Olympic games.

If they & their bodies can hold up, and they can do as well as they did this year in Beijing,

then by all means, they should get their butts over to London and hopefully win Gold again :)

    -Matt-

  • Yeah I doubt that she'll be at 2020, but definitely 2012 and probably 2016.

  • Plus i think for her with all the expectations on her in winning the all around and other events and how hard she was judged in bejing was really hard on her, with the scores she got at nationals and trials she and most ppl expected her to win

  • i think that her parents said that they "didn't want" to do it again bcuz making it to the games and the amount of training is so extreme that it can exhaust a young athlete. Also they probably just want her to have a "normal life" and have her life not revolve around gymnastics.

  • she better be there!! i will be pissed off if she decides to waste that talent...and looks!!

  • lol i agree

  • it's not that easy to just say okay i wanna go to the olympics. yeah, it'll be fun to watch her but it takes time and effort, and she'll be in college. her parents want her to get educated and i bet shawn does too. i mean i want her to aim for 2012 but i don't want her to risk injury. it's up to her and her parents.

  • omg! her parents are like "sure whatever"

  • her parents seem very unsupportive to me

(well the dad at least) think more on ur daughter rather than urself!)

    and go shawn

  • well, it's not that they're unsupportive, but it costs money, time, training, the risk of injury or even death. she won't be able to spend much time in school, she won't be able to spend time with friends and family, and they just don't want shawn to get hurt.

  • It's kind of cruel the amount of pressure an elite gymnast must put on her body. I recently read that 93% of them have longstanding injuries as a result of the sport. Although I heard she only trains 20 hours a week rather than 40 (like most elite gymnasts)so maybe she is healthier but 4 medals is enough - she doesn't need to risk her health for the American public.

  • seeing her in 2012 should be fun

    she'll be what? 20?

    that will be different

    ...

    but cool

    ...

    OMG I FREKIN LOVE HER!!!!!!!!!

  • shawn you can do it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • doo it Shawn :) I'm hoping to start usa soon and hopefully train for 2012.

  • you'll never get shawn you leotardo.

  • She needs to be there in 2012. If she doesn't, then i will go on strike and not watch the olympics. She is the most fun to watch of them all. Do it! I already miss watching her

  • She needs to. I need Shawn Johnson in my life!! I was already looking forward to seeing that face in 2012, and now its a maybe?

    Damn.

  • Do it, I want to see her in london!

  • Do it Shawn! America is behind you 110%.

  • DO IT!!!

  • do it do it.look how gud u did. shes beautiful

  • common shawn you can do it!!!

  • she will have a great career
