I don't believe everything new is crap, just believe that In Flames was at their peak in the old days and this song is their best IMO. Is that Andy LaRocque doing the solo on this one? Sure sounds like his style! Great song from a great band. So they evolved to play what they want, I'll buy what I want to hear and they have some gems on the newer albums (Cloud Connected for instance) but I will always prefer the Whoreacle album the most.

Im tired of all these people saying "We need something new or else we would get tired of the same old music". I like new stuff but that stuff needs to be better. OLD in flames is BETTER than NEW in flames period. Everything with half a brain can see this. No one complained when colony, jester race, whoracle etc came out as "New: albums. Why? because although it was NEW and different in many ways it was still the same music we loved. Its not change were mad about, its the sound of that change.
You pretty much just explained TJR to Clayman there. Their first 4 albums (excluding Lunar Strain) are all different and unique on its own.
You'd be lying if you said Clayman sounds like Whoracle, or that Colony sounds like The Jester Race.
It's obvious that after Clayman, they went downhill. I still like their new material and appreciate that they've developed but they could've done better, just like you said :)

Man, this song is so good! It deserves over 400 million views. I believe it was recorded around the same time as the Whoracle album, in fact in the same studio and with the same settings. @ih8makinusernames It's not on an album, but an EP, named 'Black-Ash Inheritance'. The song is the first on that EP. However, the song, and the rest of that EP, is on the 2002 and 2008 rereleases of 'The Jester Race', and also on the Japanese/Korean edition of 'Whoracle'. If you don't have either of those albums, I'd recommend getting it with the extra songs on it.
The addition of Black-Ash Inheritance to The Jester Race made a great thing better :D

@metalboy031290 Is this about the complexity of the new versus old? If so, actually come clarity's solo is pretty simple, it sounds complicated because of the wah wah pedal they use, alot of metal bands use it to sound more bad ass and makes the listener think their doing something awesome.

@guitarmaniac83 Alot of in flamers say they think it went down hill from reroute to remain, but really, their sound didn't change drastically until come clarity, but like I said, they had trouble playing the older stuff live because of the several guitar parts, new stuff isn't like that. But they do sound a bit different, kind of swaying from the death metal side I guess but I still think it sounds great.

@ih8makinusernames It's not on an album, but an EP, named 'Black-Ash Inheritance'. The song is the first on that EP. However, the song, and the rest of that EP, is on the 2002 and 2008 rereleases of 'The Jester Race', and also on the Japanese/Korean edition of 'Whoracle'. If you don't have either of those albums, I'd recommend getting it with the extra songs on it.
The addition of Black-Ash Inheritance to The Jester Race made a great thing better :D

@metalboy031290 Is this about the complexity of the new versus old? If so, actually come clarity's solo is pretty simple, it sounds complicated because of the wah wah pedal they use, alot of metal bands use it to sound more bad ass and makes the listener think their doing something awesome.

@guitarmaniac83 Alot of in flamers say they think it went down hill from reroute to remain, but really, their sound didn't change drastically until come clarity, but like I said, they had trouble playing the older stuff live because of the several guitar parts, new stuff isn't like that. But they do sound a bit different, kind of swaying from the death metal side I guess but I still think it sounds great.
