  • I had my spleen out 13 years ago when I was 16 due to trauma (fell on a handrail while skateboarding). I wanted to see the surgery that left a 12" scar on my stomach. So, we meet again, Splenectomy (turns around slowly in chair like a Bond villain).

  • My spleen was removed and after the surgery i found myself misarable, In constant pain, no appetite, and on oxygen, Is this normal?

  • my spleen is enlarged, but not that big, i'm really scared now though because after a full year of regular and far fetched tests they cant find out what's causing it :/

  • MEEEEEEEDICK!!!

  • well all I got the cycs removed and I feel great. It was 9inches circumfrence and wieghed 3lbs. My Dr took pics of this thing and gave me a copy..

  • My spleen is this size now with a 12cm cyst inside it!!! My surgery is on June 13th 2011. What are my chances surviving a surgery like this? Will they play the same scary music when they operate?? WOW

I am in denmark and since December 2010 they are not able to put a diagnostic regarding the pain i have.... i am nurse and i told them to check up the spleen, pancreas and colon, but they keep stucking themselfves on my kidneys....denmark sucks in medical sistem and if u plan to die just come here...please anyone let me know hwere i can have a check up properly....

  • Mine is coming out in a few weeks and it's 35 cm. I have a bone marrow disorder that causes it to grow out of control. How did the patient do?

  • @saalanc God Bless you, I hope it went well. I have an enlarged spleen from Auto-Immune Cirrhosis (Celiacs), how are you feeling?

  • the beating thing is te heart?

  • @imalittlechicky If you're talking about the beating thing at 2:57, no it's not. It's the end of the left lung moving to the beat of the heart. I'm not sure i've seen the heart in the video by the way.

  • asking this means you know you are alive.

  • Who's ever that was, they didn't take care of themselves very well.

  • Absolutely incredible case!!

  • Absolutely Incredible!

  • My Spleen was 21cm By 11cm when it was taken out

  • epic music

  • maybe.. the enlargement of spleen is because of the RBC destruction.. the destructed RBC is being stored in the spleen.. so if there is a continuous destruction of RBC (Hemolytic desease) the spleen become large

  • my spleen was about 30 cm and 2.5 kg

  • @raspberrysprinkles64 how do you know that? O_o

  • @raspberrysprinkles64 yeah so is mine, having it removed in 2 weeks. they said mine is the size of a baby

  • dang that's a massive spleen =S

  • how big was this spleen, do you know? mine was 20cm long and 2kg heavy and im just curious cuz i never got to see it.

  • Mine was around 20cm too.

  • @nirvanoua

    length 12 cm

    width 7 cm

    weight 150g

  • OMG that spleen was about half the size of the liver!!! What caused it?

  • An hematologic disease

  • Mine was caused by a rare blood disorder called ITP where you basically don't have any blood cells and the spleens it's it up as it does with all the other good cells.

  • It grows up in many time, so the abdominal compliance makes it possible

  • can't you feel it if it becomes so large? I just can't imagine how that could be inside someone....

  • You do feel it.. Quite uncomfortable because sometimes you can't breath well and you can feel it outside your ribs.

  • AWESOME! : O

  • is that a human or animal

  • It's a young man

  • Yikes. That's major Splenomegaly! Did he live?

  • of course!

  • Did he have a blood disorder?

  • Oh yeah, sure!!!

  • @ZorzVascSurg I feel very sorry for him

  • I hope that wasn't me? I had mine removed, it was 20cm and a few days about to rupture.

  • wow, was his ribcage deformed?

  • Absolutely not. The spleen grows up compressing the abdominal content.

  • He can eat better now!

  • Thats huge! That person probably couldn't eat much at all.

  • ohh spleen...
