  • Such a great band! Can't wait to hand my daughter my old LPs and say "Here's your intro to Boys".

  • absolutely love this band

  • This makes me beyond happy.

  • Good old school punk here. New punk blows balls. Socal good ol punk! Descendents Rule!!

  • fuck social d........LONG LIVE DESCENDENTS

  • great vids dude, thanks for sharing

  • When I get the time, I like to sit down and think of how much I'm still utterly in love with this band.

  • his voice is so badass.i love when he yells harder on certain notes

  • they do sound the same....but i love them both so i dont care :-)

  • i'l the since 3rd grde til now! thnx 2 my brother JIMYfLIP

  • thanks for posting this show. totally gave me a few rounds of goosebumps, really brings me back!

  • yeah, the greatest punk rock band ever...I've been growing up with this songs. Thanx for this videos !!!!

  • Who gives a shit if they take drugs or when the song was written chill the fuck out.

  • social Distortion will always be better than the descendents, dont get me wrong i love the descendents, they're fuckin great, but i personally think social D is just an overall better band

  • Man,thx so much for sharing this.

Awesome band,it's great to get to watch them playing at that time.

  • Were the Descendents straight edge?

  • oh dear god no...sorry.

  • They weren't officially straight edge, but collectively rejected drug use. I think Milo is still sober after all of these years. They make fun of drinking, smoking and drugs in numerous songs and live sets.

  • @Beardo138

lol, what do you mean? They were all addicted to coffee and still are. xD

  • Straight Edge doesn't reject coffee, you're refering to Hardline. The band has never claimed Straight Edge but they have all, like Beardo said, rejected drug use and made fun of it.

  • @robertdtfff Lmao suprise the hell outta everyone with that they look like a buncha drug hounds,

  • @ZachWasHere arent we all addicted to coffee?

  • @atpsickboy I'm not, I have quite an addiction for soda, though.

  • I used to cover this song w/ my band. So fun to play!

  • how did you get the video?

because i want this on dvd

  • y ou asshole this is it...

  • Descendents are far greater than Social Distortion can ever hope to be.

  • Their both great bands and both in my top 10 bands ever. I might give Descendents/ALL the slight edge with the ALL discography thrown in there.

  • Some ALL songs are so difficult to enjoy--they don't follow normal musical conventions. But they're cool because of that.

  • Descendents Kick ass !!!!

  • whosethe guitarist here?

  • Stephen Egerton

  • I FUKNI COMPLETELY AGREE up until the "BuRnOuT" part! their NOT burnouts their FUKN AWESOME is what they ARE!!!

  • the singer milo is one of the smartest engineers on the planet. plus this was a drug free band. oh and i was there

  • were they really drug free? Cool!

  • Thanks for the video man!!

  • this song to what???

  • the riff is a complete rip off, not the whole song but the riff.

If you don't recognize that then your an empty headed peter puff pos worthless twat waffle.

fuck all new solcial d shit.

  • All this debate over who ripped who off is stupid.

Descendants wrote this in 1986. Social D did theirs in 1996. Simple fucking math, people.

Were any of you even born when this was written?

  • @phinmagic tobad they both say social d did it as a tribute to them with their PERMISSION. Either way social D fucks these guys up.

  • @phinmagic Actually Social Distortion wrote "Far Behind" in 2007... hahaha So it's way younger than 1996... But your point is accurate. But who really cares? I chalk it up as Mike Ness doing it subconciously... I'm sure he knows the Descenents very well, and wouldn't intentionally rip them off... But yes, it's still funny...

  • @Mozzer232 Why is this still being discussed. It still amazes me that kids are talking about this four years later. Given that the SxDx song is about "a certain person" explicitly, its pretty much on the record that lifting the riff is a deliberate parody.

How could anyone think something that glaringly obvious would be subconcious, or the MN would plagiarize a riff like that unless he meant to. Floors me that there has ever been a controversy about this.

  • @maximinimal who fuckin cares . its a good song !!! by a great band!!!

    Go skate you creep

  • @phinmagic i was born before it, thank god :) ALL!!!!!!!!!!

  • @phinmagic social d recorded theirs from 06-07 douche

  • Anyone that says this and the SD song are same is a fucking idiot.

It's a simple chord progression used by MANY writers.

Get your facts straight or get back to recess kiddies.... Maybe it's nap time for you on your lil mat.

Both songs and artists are great, and none is even close to the oher. Get over yourselves. /sheesh

  • someone said that the friend mentioned in far behind is bill stevenson (although i have no idea how accurate that is); if thats true then social d might have used the same riff on purpose, kinda as a way to make some people think of the descendents' song

  • yeah he's bill stevenson shaven

  • damn people, no one ripped anyone off....theyre both from cali..im sure theres alot of songs that start like that.......no one got ripped off, shit both bands are fuckin great...stop bitchinnnnn

  • What song did Social D steal from descendents? Social D and descendents dont sound anything alike...sorry.........Mike ness stole from...COUNTRY AND FOLK MUSIC

  • everyone rips off everything from everyone else. it's the nature of the music business.

i am a die hard descendents fan...social d ripped them off. however...i love social d tooo...alot of bands rip off descendents..they are that awesome.

  • more power to milo and the guys!!!

  • Get the time, and far behind are both awesome songs..and probably social D stole the riff but the lyrics are so different is not the same..so when people say. Social D stole the song..they are wrong...cause they didn't first listen to far behind and see what I mean.

  • dude come on the songs dont sound alike at all!!!! exepct for the lead guitar part and that shit does sound almost exactly lol idk i think its a coincidence like every other song that ppl say is a ripoff. social d. and that kid who says mike ness is a bad song writter is an idiot.

  • i used to love social d but once i heard far behind i knew that they ripped of the descendents, dont get me wrong i still like social d but ive always liked the descendents way more.

  • This song is great! Where can I find it on you tube the non live version?

  • who cares bout SD or rip-offs? This is song is amazing!!! Descendents for life!

  • I hold equal-ish respect for each SD and Descendents. Both found at different point in my life, SD was more adult and helped me thru my addictions, but Descendents were my FUN time! :)

NOW I HAVE THE TIME!!!!!!! I love you Milo and all! :)

  • there are soo many great bands not just two to help u through. NEVER learn about punk at HOT TOPIC !

  • song makes me sad i think about the lost love of my damn life i lost

  • un pene en tu potito

  • the studio version's pretty weak - this track's so much better live

  • I disagree

  • how did I know that there'd be tons of comments about the "Far Behind"/"Get The Time" rip on this page?

  • old skul..rily love this band..they can rily rock you..peace out yo.. one of my favorite song..

  • when you hear the screech.. he was gonna say "yeah!" ah, straight edge old school skater punk.

  • Check out the irony...Cool guy/tatooed greaser rocker guys...wait a decade or so; then RIP OFF the "nerds". If you doubt? Play them back to back(start with the Descendents) and see what you think. It IS the same song.

  • 2 decades, and Social Distortion has ALWAYS sucked HARD.

  • woah hold on a second here, Social D is fucking awesome im a bigger Descendents/ALL fan myself but dont be hating on a great west coast punk rock band, they have great albums man

  • agreed. Social Distortion rocks.

  • sd says fuck l.a no bueno its all about o.c.

fuck orange county sd has good songs but there not better then any la punk band

  • but thats a punk attitute fuck La or whatever hahaha that great

  • i agree with you i never liked social D. but im a big time descendents and jawbreaker fan

  • fucking love this bass part, that's sorta how i'd like to think of my style as...

  • i mean this in a good way, but this is like... a pretty song.

  • You need to check your ears. Descendents and Social Distortion are two totally different sounds! Both great!

  • love this song.

  • Man...nobody can rip THIS moment! fuck social D (great beand) or whoever...

    DESCENDETS rule forever!!! enjoy...

  • booh...why would social d copy these dudes..?

    Its just coincidence!

  • BRO YOU A FUCKIN A ABSOLUTELY RIGHT!!

AS MUCH AS I LOVE SOCIAL D THEY FUCKING RIPPED THIS HARD AND BULLSHIT NOBODY IN THIER CIRCLE HEARD THIS ??

SEEMS LIKE A RIP TO ME. I WAS JUST THINKING THAT SHIT YESTERDAY ON SOCIAL D'S MYSPACE HAHAHAHAHAHAHA

    THEY BOTH RULE!!

    PEACE YA'll

  • this is like Nirvana ripping Killing joke. Jet ripping Iggy pop

  • The descendents wrote this in the 80's

Social Distortion Wrote Far Behind In 2007

THEY bascially ripped off this song

  • People forget to mention the guy from weezer completely stole his image from Milo

  • This sounds like Social D better yet, I should rightfully say that Social D sounds exactly like this, I understand in "punk Rock" a lot of bands use the same riff, but the similiarity between this & Social D I think is more than just a coincidence. Fuck that then, I guess he's Mike Ness is pawning off other people's music to get hits & make more money......another coincidence that both titles ryhme.....

  • social D ripped off this song

their title is far behind isnt?? well that carely got out in 2007

this song was out since the 80's

social distortion basically ripped off this song from one of the best bands in the world

  • Social Distortion has been around since the early 80s...

  • SD "ripped off" a riff, not the song. Could it not be more of a tribute to the band than a rip off?

  • yea from 0:20 to 0:30 its like SOCIAL D - FAR BEHIND... dunno if they meant to copy or it was just coincidence.. we play a song in my band that sounds like a part of CAROUSEL from BLINK 182 but we did it before even listening to that song.. so dunno

  • yeah they all say that

  • happened the same with us.. never meant to copy anyone tho.

  • damn, i can see why these guys are mad at social distortion for their song 'far behind' being like this one.

  • Where are the All clips?

  • come on! this guitar riff has been used in many many songs!!! this is pure coincidence.

  • no shit huh...

  • it does kind of sound like far behind but except some parts

  • I remember first buying the All album in the 80's. They were/are the best at mixing hardcore punk/pop punk. Many tried to emulate but no other band can compare.

  • Yea, it does appear that Mr. Ness lifted the riff or obtained permission to use it. I doubt he wold lift it without permission.

  • there's a moment in my life in every single descendents song.

  • COOLIDGE!!!!YALLLLLLL!

  • when was this shot? awesome stuff.

  • mike ness loves this song!

  • do you think this is why "far behind" kinda sounds like it

  • This is one of those songs that will always be in my life's soundtrack.

  • amazing song!

  • I DON'T WANT TO GROW UP!!!!!

  • favorite song right here the guitar riff is awsome

  • wooooaaaahhh thanks for posting

  • Milo , te quiero.
