Is is true that if you fill a room with a mixture of inert gases each capable of producing a single light colour ie blue green red when hit with a beam array or some other beam that will illuniati the gases you can create holograms on the other side of walls. Slightly off topic here but just a thought
@Discoverer00111 I guess you could. that's basically how a Neon light works: the atoms of inert gases form stable molecules by chemically bonding with other atoms. But it is pretty easy to build a gas discharge tube "such as a neon light" which reveals that inertness is a relative matter. One need apply only a modest electric voltage to electrodes at the ends of a glass tube containing the inert gas and the light begins to glow.
@consdel2000 the ECM electronic engine controller would be fried and require replacement, along with any semiconductor devices that would all be fried.
I keep hearing folks say it's the electrons in the upper atmosphere, or particles of some sort that travel as the pulse. What's happening is the upper atmosphere is ionized and those excited electrons decay back to their original orbitals (amongst other transitions) and radiate photons, mostly in the RF spectrum. It's just a monster huge pulse of radio waves, and those induce a current in conductive material like power lines and the circuits in your devices... or on the outside of your cage :-)
Nuclear Power Plants are not inside a faraday cage. The electrical surge will follow transmission lines and go right into the electrical wiring and computers of the nuclear power plant. This instant frying of the electrical structure of the power plant will prevent the computers from initiating safety shutdown procedures such as bringing down the protective shields and kicking in the diesel generators to run the water pumps. This would result in an instant meltdown - WORLD RADIATION.
you people trying to save your cell phones and other electronics do realize that the service for all these things will be destroyed, no cell service or internet
@smokescreenninjato I was thinking the same thing- The electricity & service providers would be gone for many years at least & by then who's to say they would even go back to the same type of power/transmission, might invent something totally new- so it wouldn't happen again. Good for saving a ham radio though, to hear emergency broadcasts if there were any.
Invest in spare electronic parts your car or truck will need and put them in your faraday cage. Auto part stores should store electronics in rooms made like a faraday cage, ( that might be a little harder, but if it saves lives it will be well worth it ).Cars and trucks will be needed to go for supplies, take people to hospitals, and for patrols.
Your microwave oven might not work as it has the little paint gap near the door. You need to sand off that area to see bear metal and line it with thick layers of aluminum foil. Close the door and crush seal it, so it's tight. Line the inside with aluminum foil too if there are holes. Then ground it.
I got a bunch of faraday bags from a great website--techprotectbagcom. They protect electronics against EMPs. They're really cheap and meet military specification. They come in various sizes large enough to fit just about anything and ones small enough for just a cell phone. It's a very educational site too. You should really check it out and let me know what you think.
Hey I wanted to ask..It seems like what need to prevent an EMP from causing damage is for an electrical device to be shielded with aluminium to prevent the magnetic effect to cause a surge of voltage... I wanted to ask this
1. If you switch the electrical device off would you prevent an EMP from causing damage (I thought the emps way of doing damage is to create an dangerous surge in charge in a 'closed' circuit) if thats the case would simply having no current flowing prevent EMP damage
@owen2612 electronics are damaged because they have short conductive elements in them that act bacically like a radio antena. if the device is on it is more likely to be damaged but if it is off damage can still happen because the electrical energy is transmitted directly into the electronics themselves.
the hood does not matter, yes metal with redirect magnetic field lines, but unless its grounded it will not help plus the pulse travels in wave form and will (even if the hood was grounded) wrap around the car and come up from the bottom. plus it fried the CPU and the coil, the soleniod and starter would still work(most likely) EMP's are most effective against solidstate electronics, thats why there was only minor issue when we did all those nuke test in the 50's and 60's.
the only way to truely protect your stuff is to make sure that the "box" is 100% sealed (metal wrapped all the way around with no gaps bigger then 1/16th of an inch) that all sides and lids/doors are electricly connected. (adding a connection wire between doors and sides if not one solid piece. then the most importent part it most be grounded to a rod at least 4 to 6 feet long underground.
If I were to pay you, could you make me a faraday cage like the one showed in your video? I'm serious. I know the price of those size ammo cans and I'm sure the rubber lining and foil is cheap as well. I would of course pay for you to ship it. Let me know this would be possible.
@2012skunkape you can use any ammo can. and the Foam is from Michale's the total cost was about 20 bucks . I think i payed 10-15 for the ammo can and under 5 for the rest of the stuff. It would be very easy to make it your self.
Just put the stuff in the fridge that should work. DAM Nothing else is going to work anyway. So save the Still ( Party Liquor ) Budwiser999 makes total sense. Get the old riding lawnmower out. Do like the A-Team.

but will that protect it for sure? still thinking about preparing and what prepare with and studying it but still not sure but still researching it all at once. I rather prepare just in case. the more this guy bothers me about it i not jokiing anymore. the more i want to prepare cuz now he got me SERIOUSLY thinking about it and not just researching or asking question. the more he doesnt want me to or make fun of others reason to prepare. the more i want to prepare. rebellious lol.
Not just nukes either. Electromagnetic storms can do the same thing, power grids HAVE gone down because of them. EMP shielding is so easy. Your microwave is shielded, so you don't get cooked by the magnetron's high intensity radio waves. (same as with an EMP) Check how you can see through the screen in the window, that screen (even with holes) blocks radio waves. It has holes in it, but the holes are smaller than the radio wavelength. So you don't even need a perfect seal!
wow you the only person that answered a few questions i had. I posted others on here though but you are awesome. thx. so chicken mesh? and does it have to be grounded and what about cars?
Naw man, chicken wire is too thin with gaps too large. Personally I'd go with Copper Mesh or even metal screening to put into your screen door will work. Just take a small battery operated radio and tune it to your favorite station, then pop it in the micro. Note when you close the door the music will stop. It's a good way to tell whether your cage/container is insulating from radio waves. :3
okay. people. if the house is grounded do i still need faraday cages for my electronics inside the house? If so, what electronics should i definitely protect? Also how to i protect my 2003 PT Cruiser from EMP? What possible effects (directly or indirectly) does this really how on the human body? How do i protect my body from radiation? This will deplete the magnetic layer around the earth that is protecting us right? I cant build shelter what are the other alternatives to help? thank you~
@Jrockershadow most homes are grounded. Yes you well need Faraday cages for any thing you want to protect, But most things that are unplugged from the electrical grid will survive. Chances are most cars and trucks will survive. As a general rule they have a lot a EMF shielding built in to them this is why you dont hear engine noise coming over your cars radio. For the most part no effects on the human body but if you are close enough to a blast to fell it i dont know. Emp will not hurt earth.
Thank you very much. But will the EMP take down the magnetic field or will something else? If so wont that leave our bodies vunerable to other things to come through because the field have to build back up right? This guy said that and it kind of bothered me.
@john762x39 I have read a good bit about his and what I have read most cars would be knocked useless due to electronics. No effect on body directly but what will happen to our society and environment will eventually be a hugh threat: nuc plants, no prescriptions so injuries and germs will become real threat, no refrigeration so meds like insulin will be gone, pace makers gone etc... If power goes out most important thing is go act immediately and not sit around Read One Second After Peace
@Iseeit4u I read one second after. you have to remember that is a work of fiction. i live about 50 miles outside of Black Mountain nc and i find it funny no one had a propane refrigerator.
@john762x39 I know what you are saying however the book was written after he was on a congressional committee to study our nation's vulnerability and much research into an EMP attack. Yes the book is fiction but the premise and the scenario are very likely. I am not arguing, just trying to help people who are wondering what all this means can potentially do. By the way Congress shut the committee down and according to him the cause was "to expensive to prepare and create to much fear." PEACE
@Jrockershadow Duude why are you so protective? :O, if you've been exposed to EMP previously i doubt theres any point in trying to stop it because it's everywhere we go.
its for to prepare jux in case. Plus if EMP hit the earth from what i wanna know wont MORe of the other radiation that does have effect on the human body come through? how to survive through that. jux wont it be heavier than usual. no cant stop that from happening but why not see how to make it less problematic ya know. thats why i am like. yah things will be fried but what about our bodies and the indirect problems the emp can cause. study it study it study it and i jux wonder
@Jrockershadow An EMP isn't going to go off, if they dropped an EMP bomb on where you lived? What would "They" Achieve? Why wouldn't we survive? It doesn't harm/kill you, you talk like you are 5 seconds away from getting EMPD lol, it's kind of funny how someone can be so worried about something that will never happen.
i havent started anything. thats why i been going around asking tons of questions about it. Plus like i said if the sun burst happen not only will it knock out our electronics but mess up the magnetic layer protecting the earth...so wouldnt that let other radiation in. plus wouldnt it take a while for the magnetic layer to build itself up. worry about bodies more than the technology? and if i should protect the tech in our home inventory it (lol again i think means laughter)
but if i feel it necessary not sure i do or not yet which is why i ask about the problems aaand how to prepare against it to see if i even want to. then since you really care for my answer i might lean more towards that way. its better to be knowledgable than ignorant. and its better to be prepared the best you can no matter how small a chance than not at all. i'd rather not be ignorant lmao
@Jrockershadow Okay then, in that case go lock yourself in a room for the rest of your life, that way you can think ahead and nobody will break in your house and murder you.
also why give up so easily? There is always possibility and way to survive right. why wouldnt you care? But i mean dont be jumpy about it but still its good to be prepared for anything the best you can right? Also why not be knowledgeable about ANYTHING?
@Jrockershadow Watch vids by guy dsarti to get the help and info you need. Also read the book One Second After...rent at library if cost is an issue. No harm to body but what happens to environment will get most. Read my reply to guy below. Store as much water as possible is first rule.
Hey, I was wondering what could be done to protect a computer that is always plugged into a wall socket? You said at the end of the video that anything plugged in would be fried, but what if I put a surge protector? If I somehow find a way to cover my computer in metal, without the metal actually touching the computer, and put a surge protector on the cord, would it still be fried?
@Airclot Emp will run through any electrical wires connected to it .
Power lines and Cat5 cables etc. What you need is a emp protected outlet . Next week i will build one on video. with plans and cost list. they cost about 10 bucks.
well By me i assume you mean America. One emp could take out the usa. So i dont know the odds but i know North Korea and Iran have both said they want to do it to us.
the guy driving the car like most people is just acting like he knows cars.emp works by static discharge it would of fried the ecu and any other circuit to do with running the car.
How do you know that's a fiberglass hood ?( how would this be a realistic test?) it looks like a metal hood with a layer of New Mexico dust covering it ...you can even see where someone's hand wiped it off when they closed the hood. Anyway, even if you can protect your personal devices, what good will it do you if the whole rest of the system is fried ?
The hood was fiberglass they said it in the notes on the show.
Well my phone for instance does not need the network to use the blue tooth or wifi to watch my security cameras. and cars have am radios and my may get info that is not local
@john762x39 O.k. about the hood (I still don't think they conducted a real world test)
But, about the rest of your stuff still working after a E.M.P. attack, I guess I assume that it's a grand scale (not local) type attack, and there is no electricity to run "any" systems & satellites would be useless too.All it would take is a nuke to explode about 300 miles above the US. in order to wipe it out.
curiously I wonder how an older veihicle non computerised minor electronics and say standered would react. Engin dies with the EMP. If you have momentum would it be a pop the clutch and go situation ya think?
I've done this for all my ham radios along with solar panels and other valuable electronics. I've got two 20mm ammo boxes packed full of stuff. It's very easy to turn a full room into a faraday cage for practically pocket change.
Germany systematically uses torture and murder to silence any opposition. Some of the murders known to the public: Uwe Barschel, Jürgen Möllemann, Heiner Gehring, Martina Pflock, Tron, Karl Koch, Bernd Seiffert, Kirsten Heisig, Fritz Bauer.
My brother Markus Bott had been tortured during 5.5 years by the German BND. He was assassinated on 11.7.09 because of our homepage.
German snitchers are following me on youtube and immediately flag my postings.
so technically if i had a big enough box if i wraped it in foil whatever the contents of the box may be they will be safe? we dont have any military stores in the town i live in cuz we are so small
@FarceTheory It just might be. the car in the video above had a fiberglass hood on it to let the pulse go through. most cars are shielded from radio interference and this should help greatly with emp. also the car above was worst case senario with line of sight from the pulse.
Agreed! But my main concern would be the computer module which can be found in the dash. Yes this to can be found in a metal case but every thing else is not. You have a view of the road and your dash has the same view of space. I mentioned a solar storm that hit in 1859 I think. It took out the moors code system shocking/zapping operators and taking a life of its own speaking gibberish. When the sun dose this again are you sure your car would be fine.
@FarceTheory no im not sure it would be safe. at home its in a shielded garage but what if in on the road when it happens? So what i did was get a spare and keep it in a foam lined ammo can. You can get one form the junk yard for 5 bucks or get one from the dealer. But a spare is your best bet.
@john762x39 My statement is not on just a burst of EMP, But a continued flow for hours.
And the electric wires will purge somewhere. Keep in mind You have Fuses, Fusible links, Crank censure, Mass air flow censure. Your car is Kaput! Other note you said your garage is safe, How?
Well i now have a droid phone. So with out service i can still use all the tools like level,GPS, read my maps, view my satellite images of places i downloaded . wifi to my security cameras that are on alternate power, read my pdf files * like Medical files) and listen to my mp3s. etc.....
@john762x39 I'm truly sorry but this seems really really stupid, unless you have a great power source, your instruction are useless. The united states energy grid is also a large variable affected be many smaller variable , one of them is the pulse it self can destroy the grid. Personally, I have a med size 5watt solar panel that can charge small phones; not too many others are willing to pay 75-799 USD for such....
@russgofosho whats up with white people and Chuck Norris, when did he get this rap as the baddest SOB on earth? I'm serious, i've seen the chuck norris poster in Spencers, and dont get me Wrong, I liked Side Kicks and occasionally watched Walker Texas Ranger but i swear, hes like yall Muhammed Ali except i dont know why? Now, MacGuyer was a bad muthafucka!!! LOL
lol this is totally useless. Unless you want to keep your phone in there at all times just in case of an EMP attack. But if there was one, It would most likley be a nuclear one, and a Faraday cage wont protect you against one of those.
@SpiderDroid2 what do you mean by "Code" ? ... I suppose you could cover it with the tape. That wold not be a bad idea, some of the smaller items I but in 1gal zip lock bags to keep moisture out.
well, if you want the box to protect your electronics, the outer layer should be made of some other material: iron or any other ferromagnetic. Alluminium not gonna work in real EMP-defensive applications.
@quanhofable E.M.P. needs to be thought of as A radio wave. aluminum will work just fine.
aluminum foil or Mylar, as from a cheap "space blanket." with A grounding wire taped to the foil.EMP hitting the foil and is bled away by the ground wire.
@john762x39 cuz there not gonna do it there too stupid, and even if they did figure it out they wouldn't dare even try it because we will stop it wil a huge ass laser then they will al be dead from one of our nukes
@stormfire180 Oh ok thanks for letting us all know we don't need to worry. I guess congress has it all wrong in there report "E.M.P. the greasiest threat to America"
since when has the USA ever given up the BEST of anything? all these nuclear stockpiles, and then slowly we're starting to give them to our allies and reduce our amount..something tells me we have something more powerful to replace the nuke, such as a deadly EMP capable of taking out a whole country.. after WW2 spies stole our nukes, and by learning from our mistakes, dats the only reason why it isnt announced..just my theory
Can't believe all of the negative (stupid) commits below.. EMP are a weapon, but also occur naturally through solar flairs. I thought Video was Great have come to the EMP part of my prepping and already have a lot of ammo boxes. I have worked out how product my own electricity that will service EMP, but your video was GREAT!!
Effects of an EMP device depend on the altitude of the detonation, energy yield, interactions with the earth's magnetic field, and shielding of targets.Three components of the EMP are E1,E2,E3. Range of 1 to 10 megatons. This is worst then a nuclear bomb.
@trimetaler Wow you must of failed school. How sad for you.
The ground is also a conductor of electricity and provides a return path for electrons at the outer part of the deposition region toward the burst point. Positive ions, which travel shorter distances than electrons and at lower velocities, remain behind and recombine with the electrons returning through the ground. Now don't you feel STUPID.
Well thank you for advise

@john762x39 I know what you are saying however the book was written after he was on a congressional committee to study our nation's vulnerability and much research into an EMP attack. Yes the book is fiction but the premise and the scenario are very likely. I am not arguing, just trying to help people who are wondering what all this means can potentially do. By the way Congress shut the committee down and according to him the cause was "to expensive to prepare and create to much fear." PEACE
Iseeit4u 1 year ago
@Jrockershadow Duude why are you so protective? :O, if you've been exposed to EMP previously i doubt theres any point in trying to stop it because it's everywhere we go.

@xxmrbloodxx
???
Jrockershadow 1 year ago
@Jrockershadow What i mean is, why are you acting like we are going to get hit by an EMP?
xxmrbloodxx 1 year ago
@xxmrbloodxx
its for to prepare jux in case.
Jrockershadow 1 year ago
@Jrockershadow An EMP isn't going to go off, if they dropped an EMP bomb on where you lived? What would "They" Achieve? Why wouldn't we survive? It doesn't harm/kill you, you talk like you are 5 seconds away from getting EMPD lol, it's kind of funny how someone can be so worried about something that will never happen.

bomb? what bomb?

why have to repeat?
Jrockershadow 1 year ago
@Jrockershadow So what your saying is your seriously thinking about trying to protect your items? Lmao
xxmrbloodxx 1 year ago
@xxmrbloodxx
i havent started anything. thats why i been going around asking tons of questions about it.
Jrockershadow 1 year ago
@xxmrbloodxx
but if i feel it necessary not sure i do or not yet which is why i ask about the problems aaand how to prepare against it to see if i even want to. then since you really care for my answer i might lean more towards that way. its better to be knowledgable than ignorant. and its better to be prepared the best you can no matter how small a chance than not at all. i'd rather not be ignorant lmao
Jrockershadow 1 year ago
@Jrockershadow Okay then, in that case go lock yourself in a room for the rest of your life, that way you can think ahead and nobody will break in your house and murder you.
xxmrbloodxx 1 year ago
@xxmrbloodxx
short answer yes. i am seriously thinking about it.
Jrockershadow 1 year ago
@xxmrbloodxx
you know what. I am going to prepare. not thinking about it anymore. You make me realize that. Thanks.
Jrockershadow 1 year ago
@xxmrbloodxx
i thought that was understood when i said magnetic layer protecting us. storm warning? sun burst? I dont think we on the same thing here lol.
Jrockershadow 1 year ago
@xxmrbloodxx
also why give up so easily? There is always possibility and way to survive right. why wouldnt you care? But i mean dont be jumpy about it but still its good to be prepared for anything the best you can right? Also why not be knowledgeable about ANYTHING?
Jrockershadow 1 year ago

Airclot 1 year ago
@Airclot Emp will run through any electrical wires connected to it .
Power lines and Cat5 cables etc. What you need is a emp protected outlet . Next week i will build one on video. with plans and cost list. they cost about 10 bucks.

How do you know that's a fiberglass hood ?( how would this be a realistic test?) it looks like a metal hood with a layer of New Mexico dust covering it ...you can even see where someone's hand wiped it off when they closed the hood. Anyway, even if you can protect your personal devices, what good will it do you if the whole rest of the system is fried ?
sanpedrohustler 1 year ago
@sanpedrohustler
The hood was fiberglass they said it in the notes on the show.
Well my phone for instance does not need the network to use the blue tooth or wifi to watch my security cameras. and cars have am radios and my may get info that is not local
john762x39 1 year ago
@john762x39 O.k. about the hood (I still don't think they conducted a real world test)
But, about the rest of your stuff still working after a E.M.P. attack, I guess I assume that it's a grand scale (not local) type attack, and there is no electricity to run "any" systems & satellites would be useless too.All it would take is a nuke to explode about 300 miles above the US. in order to wipe it out.
sanpedrohustler 1 year ago
make a hat out of that, and then post a video of you wearing it

curiously I wonder how an older veihicle non computerised minor electronics and say standered would react. Engin dies with the EMP. If you have momentum would it be a pop the clutch and go situation ya think?

so anything inside a plastic or rubber box would survive?

I've done this for all my ham radios along with solar panels and other valuable electronics. I've got two 20mm ammo boxes packed full of stuff. It's very easy to turn a full room into a faraday cage for practically pocket change.

I fear the fact that my car is immune to EMP or a Solar storm like the one from two centuries ago.
FarceTheory 1 year ago
@FarceTheory It just might be. the car in the video above had a fiberglass hood on it to let the pulse go through. most cars are shielded from radio interference and this should help greatly with emp. also the car above was worst case senario with line of sight from the pulse.
john762x39 1 year ago
FarceTheory 1 year ago
@FarceTheory no im not sure it would be safe. at home its in a shielded garage but what if in on the road when it happens? So what i did was get a spare and keep it in a foam lined ammo can. You can get one form the junk yard for 5 bucks or get one from the dealer. But a spare is your best bet.
john762x39 1 year ago
@john762x39 My statement is not on just a burst of EMP, But a continued flow for hours.
And the electric wires will purge somewhere. Keep in mind You have Fuses, Fusible links, Crank censure, Mass air flow censure. Your car is Kaput! Other note you said your garage is safe, How?

UgotDead123 1 year ago
@UgotDead123
a cell tower is different from a satellite
most EMPs are used in atmosphere not directly on a satellite so i can imagine that unless thats what happened he would be fine...
i know im a noob for commenting on a comment so old...
hiphoplivesthrume 1 year ago
@john762x39 I'm truly sorry but this seems really really stupid, unless you have a great power source, your instruction are useless. The united states energy grid is also a large variable affected be many smaller variable , one of them is the pulse it self can destroy the grid. Personally, I have a med size 5watt solar panel that can charge small phones; not too many others are willing to pay 75-799 USD for such....

well, if you want the box to protect your electronics, the outer layer should be made of some other material: iron or any other ferromagnetic. Alluminium not gonna work in real EMP-defensive applications.
quanhofable 1 year ago
@quanhofable E.M.P. needs to be thought of as A radio wave. aluminum will work just fine.
aluminum foil or Mylar, as from a cheap "space blanket." with A grounding wire taped to the foil.EMP hitting the foil and is bled away by the ground wire.

Effects of an EMP device depend on the altitude of the detonation, energy yield, interactions with the earth's magnetic field, and shielding of targets.Three components of the EMP are E1,E2,E3. Range of 1 to 10 megatons. This is worst then a nuclear bomb.

trimetaler 1 year ago
@trimetaler Wow you must of failed school. How sad for you.
The ground is also a conductor of electricity and provides a return path for electrons at the outer part of the deposition region toward the burst point. Positive ions, which travel shorter distances than electrons and at lower velocities, remain behind and recombine with the electrons returning through the ground. Now don't you feel STUPID.
