  • yet they show a pioneer heady in the vid

  • Give that poor customer support guy a bigger monitor for crying out loud! How the heck is he supposed to do his job?

  • what we have learned??? CRUTCHFIELD

  • Crutchfield blows.

  • Why do I get the feeling it wont be this easy on my 2000 grand prix gtp..hmm

  • I'm never going to install another car stereo again. What a nightmare.

  • my question is do you need anything special if your also installing subs, amps and speakers

  • blah blah blah Crutchfield blah blah Crutchfield blah blah blah blah Crutchfield blah Crutchfield.

  • If I hear crutchfield one more fuckin time..

  • This is exactly what I needed. I searched for a general installation, but found this. And it shows my car, a mustang. Lucky. Haha.

  • Well, this is overcomplicated... How about using ISO wiring harnesses instead of crimping or soldering? Every car stereo comes with ISO connectors or a cable which converts ISO connectors to radio's proprietary connector (at least in Europe). Also it's possible to buy wiring harnesses which covert the vehicle's proprietary plugs to ISO, to basically with using the mentioned two cables every stereo can be connected to every car :)

  • I used the assigned tools onto my crutchfield, is bleed now.

  • do the connections differ if i have an HD radio

  • Never heard anything so sickly.

  • stealing ass... get a job

  • I have a problem, im installing a radio in my car and I have it hooked up and the wires are correct because i checked them. Everytime I turn my car on, the radio turns on for a couple seconds then turns on. If I put a cd in, the same thing, turns on then turns off. HELP! I do not have the antenna hooked up yet either. I need a extension which is in the mail right now.

  • suck my dick

  • Automobile Companies should install Factory Decks for their customers. Factory Stereo CD Changer System Damage often and is something that would satisfy customer needs when they break. After-Market Stereo Changers look sloppy or doesn't fit well in the center console.

  • I have a 1990 Buick lesabre how do I know which kit to get

  • Did anyone else noticed that every time something important needed to have been shown, the video went Black. That's their way of keeping all the trade secrets.

  • man all these comments made my day lol

  • this crutchfield shows you how to crutchfield your crutchfield

  • @funworldonfire lmfao...

  • @funworldonfire lmao best comment

  • where we can get the thing to put out the car stereo on 0:34 ?

  • @0165511xxx walmart

  • this video should be named .... how ppl make $100 in 5 min

  • c très facile pour moi c mon métier

  • Um yea you don't need to disconnect the negative from the battery. Just take out the radio fuse and you have no juice going there. That simple. Obviously you should do one on the other but which one sounds easier.

  • i want sexier product support advisers

  • i counted crutchfield 7 times in 2 minutes

  • it never told you to plug the battery back up, haha.

  • his is installing the stereo into his mustang xD

  • I work at an audio shop and we never disconnect the ground from battery and guess what never had a problem.

  • what if u cut the car wires that run to the stearo

  • count how many times they say crutchfield

  • what if i never unplugged the negative battery cable???/

  • @MagneticFORC3 for ur bobine

  • @MagneticFORC3 you might burn your wiring out. even the stuff under your dash thats hard to replace. AND it might shock you?

  • @MagneticFORC3 nothing

  • @MagneticFORC3 you might get a shock or blow up your system. always disconnect your battery when working on the electrical system. this video looked easy but it's too short. i purchased a brand new Pioneer car stereo. i haven't installed it yet. i'm just going to take a look @ my old system & slowly try to remove it. i'm not brave enough to do it myself. crutchfield is a good co.but it's overpriced. i've purchased my system @ pc richard & saved $ 80.00 dollars. they had a wide selection.

  • I had just bough a new harness and a new stereo and I no real idea what to do with either one of them.. This video helped me-it was cool to actually see someone perform the process. After I saw this I went out and changed my stereo in an hour. Very cool. I soldered mine and used shrink sleeve, too.

  • well have if you dont have any wiring back there .... like in my isuzu pup only damn i wire i have is the antenna wire

  • BS

  • Hey i installed a JVC car stereo in my car and when i press the power button on the stereo nothing happens, however when i press the "display" or "eject" button the display light up?

    Why is this happening?

  • @underpantswedgy Its because in the back of you JVC stereo you didnt connect the RED cable you just connect the YELLOW one so you need both in orther for the stereo to power up completely or probably your RED cable is not getting any source of power

  • @zalaz831 Thanks for your help. But it was the fuse in the car that was blown. Now the stereo is working :-)

  • this video is way too vague,on most cars you need an install kit.every aftermarket stereo has a wire harness with one end having a connector and the other having the wires exposed.the purpose of that is to make a custom wire harness specific to your car's factory harness connector.

  • @jchem; I think i need one. The back of my stereo has a different connector than the one's i see online. Where can i buy one?

  • @TheUFOeffect this site sonicelectronix . com in the search box type in the year and car model.example "2004 acura tsx wire harness" the one you need usually pops up at the top of the list.if your lucky sometimes walmart has wire harnesses for like between $5 and $10.those harnesses have a bunch of connectors to try and fit as many cars as possible like a universal harness.just make sure your car year and model are listed in the package.hope this helps

  • @jchem Funny you mention that site. thats where im buying my radio and subs at mostlikely.

  • Any one have any idea what head unit this is? I cant make any of it out :( I think its something like deh p5400mp...

  • ok some one please HELP. i got a 00 mustang, and it has two decks, one for radio/casset, and one below it JUST for cd's.. if i wanna get an aftermarket stereo, what the hell do i do???

    help is very much appreciated...

  • i thought if you had the harness adapter you don't have to fuck around with the wires???

  • fuck crutchfield!

  • Here's a dangerous drinking game: every time the word crutchfield is uttered, have a shot. Once finished load another crutchfield installation video until you have completed the entire series or you have succum to alcohol poisoning

  • @Taxistudd youde be dead by vid # 2

  • @Taxistudd youde be dead by vid # 2 also alchohol poisoning is braught to you by crutchfield at no additional charge

  • Fuck this waste of time!

  • i agree. fuck u crutchfield!! I am definitely not going to fit it after watching that!! :(

  • ok so I probably should pay Geek Squad

  • @onyxanya

Fuck them. They used to install free w/ purchase of a Best Buy bought head unit. Now they charge $70 regardless.

  • actually stereos are rather easy to remove. especially in fords like this, or any OEM that uses DIN locks.

  • lol!!! except nobody's stereo pops out easy like. Wow if it were only that easy

  • @Truthisauthority hehe mine does :D 1997 ford probe gt

  • what receiver it's?pionner which model..??

  • im fucked on this subject

  • mustang FTW!! haha

  • Anyone know what kind of heat gun that is?

the one he uses for the heat shrink tubing??

  • @NicholasVillanueva just use a lighter!!!

  • Well I do already but I have some areas where a lighter might be a bit dangerous. lol

    ie behind a door panel.

  • its a standard heat gun it just as a looped attatchment for the front

  • My heat gun has that piece as an add on. It just slides over it and reflects the heat back so you apply heat to all sides of the wire at once. My gun came with it., but I think you can buy the piece by itself. Check radio shack or home depot. Really anywhere they sell electrical supplies.

  • K thanks ill try online cause my local radio shack doesn't even have the guns...and the workers dont even know what im talking about....8|

  • when i wired up my head unit the truck didnt have any wire to connect the wire that holds the head units memory. what can i wire that into to keep my head unit holding memory

  • @cotyballs, it should wire to the battery for constant power.

  • @cotyballs You can straight wire it with a fuse to your battery. Just be sure to use a fuse no more than 12 inches away from your car battery.

  • Hey you guys i have a question!! well i installed my stereo onto ma truck and everythin is good theres just one problem, every time i turn ma truck off and back on, the settings on ma stereo reset and stuff so i gotta do it every time i turn it on. The clock and everthin resets! If anyone can help id really appreciate it!

  • @MisterE2323 your power wires going to your head unit might be reversed... just switch the red and black wires and you should be good.

  • @danfzzl well the power cable from the truck is connected to a yellow and red cable coming out of the stereo. and the black one connected wit the black one thats coming out from the truck...

  • @MisterE2323 You have to have a constant power source for the 12 volt wire to your radio. If you used a wiring kit you may have the yellow and red wire flip floped. just switch the 2 and you should have a constant power source for the redio to keep memory. If you have to turn the radio off when you have taken the key out you have the constant power wire, and the ignition wire swaped.

  • ok well both the yellow and red wires are connected to the power on ma truck, is there anythin else i am doing wrong?

  • One of your 2 wires is your 12v constant.(the yellow or the red one) That lets your radio hold its memory. The wire coming from your car that you have them hooked to is your ignition wire. (it tells everything to turn on when you turn the key) Thats why your radio can't keep its memory because when you turn the ignition off it cuts the power to your 12v constant wire that your have hooked to it. You need to take your yellow and red wire apart they are going to need 2 separate power sources.

  • One is going to get hooked back up to the wire you have them both hooked to now. The other is going to get hooked to your cars 12v constant power source so your radio can keep its memory. you will know if you have them hooked up backwards if you redio does not turn of with the key turned off, if that happens, just switch the two wires the yellow and red will be hooked to when you find you cars 12v constant wire. What kind of car is it? I might be able to look it up and tell you what color wires?

  • Ok well it is a 2002 chevy trailblazer. And well they would tell me that it is the Remote Control Wire! That its the blue one or somthing like that. But i have both connected to the power cable from my truck. Also, i dont know if i told you, but i got my previous double din stereo stolen now im just using an aftermaket but it can't keep its memory. Idk if it might be missing any cables or somthing....

  • @MisterE2323 the remote wire is the thin blue wire with out the stripe. (common mistake is to mix up and install with the others) its used to tell your amp when the bass hits in a song. the momory problem is a wireing mixup somewhere or a short in your system.

  • Were not talking about turning on an amp. Were talking about his redio keeping its memory. (Don't listen to that guy)

2002 chevy trailblazer Ok you have both your wires connected to the YELLOW wire (your trucks 12v. ignition wire) coming from your truck.

You also have a ORANGE wire (12v. constant) coming from your truck that your not using. Thats the wire thats going to let your radio keep its memory.

  • You need to take one of your 2 radio power wires loose from your trucks yellow wire, and attach it to your trucks orange wire.

So you will have one connected to yellow , and one connected to orange.

If after you do this your radio just stays on with the key turned off. You just need to switch the 2 wires that are connected to your trucks yellow, and orange wire and you will be set.....

  • the remote wire doesnt tell ur amp wen theres bass! it tells ur amp to turn on wen ur stereo does... ur rcas send the signal hahaha

  • doesnt it tell it when to originally turn on when u turn the car and stereo on?

  • if you got those 2 wires backward it will still turn on with the key just no memory//

  • i think i wrecked my new cd player coz i forgot to attach the earth wire and it short circuited :( i wish i had seen this video before starting.

  • did you check your fuses? the radio fuse in your vehicles fuse box. as well as your cd players fuse. if your cd player dont got a fuse, throw it away cuz even a $100 cd stereo has one. . 9 times out of 10 the fuse is the issue. . .replace the fuse and try again. . .

  • yeh it was the radio fuse, thanks heaps! :)

  • they forget to mention some cars need bypass modules, security modules, power antenna adapters, oem amplifier bypass modules, and so on.. of course, if you have a simple car, then this simple installation will do the trick.

  • thats what i ment, i was talking to someone else about the watts in my stereo lol

  • mine is not that easy, i have an ALPINE CDA9887 replacing a 2004 Pontiac grand am receiver.

  • i run 2 12" rockford fosgate P2's and 2 rockford p2 10's as well ... alpine rear s type speakers 2 alpine v12 amps(old school) rockford fosgate tweeters all around and rockford cross overs and alpine s type fronts my point being .... i've never run a "batt. Cap." and never has my car stalled on me i beleive my main reason is my battery ... it meant for -60 degree weather and cranks out 3100 amps .... so it short ... bigger battery and proper wiring you wont need alot ofthis fancy crap

  • from crutchfield

  • free of charge courtesy of crutchfield

  • to get my harness adapter and ant. adapter i just went on ebay, got both items plus a 6' aux cord for $10.30 shipped!

  • Crutchfield

  • wat a hassel for every car

  • Can anyone tell me what I did wrong?

I installed mine and now when the bass hits and when the volume is loud enough the stereo shuts off and the lights inside my car dim.

Also when I press on the brake the stereo shuts off

  • need to install a capacitor...

  • I would need a capacitor just for my speakers and my stereo?

  • no. fuck capacitors. they nothing good. upgrade main battery to one with more power. then use bigger wiring. then if ya need to get a alt with higher amps.

  • You need proper capacitors and amps. Also check if your battery can handle your set up.

  • how can I check if the battery can handle it?

  • Volt.

  • lol thats what i ment :P

  • try it

  • What if your car has no stock stereo like my mk2 escort???

  • take a hammer and make a hole big enough for ur stereo

  • then you will have to mount a box near where you want a stereo

  • Crotchfield

  • bahahahaha bahahaha bahhahaha not.

  • I'm gonna be installing a radio into a 2004 mitsubishi eclipse. any idea of how difficult it is?

  • My current stereo is weird. Yesterday the sound went off and the stereo screen said OCER, I don't even know whats that but I disconnect the back plugg and connected back and it did turn on but in did it again today. What could be the issue. I know, "Get a new one" but is there something wrong with the stereo or its just a bad connection? Thanks

  • i did this for mine but the wiring harness kit didnt fit for my car, and i got the model and year type for my car...so i had to cut the wires and do it like that

  • i i have a 87mustang...and i need help installing it...im lost ..its not easy

  • omg its way easy man i cane help you out bro

  • if you can that wood be wonderful brooo

  • Strange how you ask a question and the uploader TXCANY never answers any of the questions. STUPID!

  • i bought today new pioneer DEH-P55BT car stereo and im trying install it to 1983 volvo 240... Old car+new stereo=not easyyy!

  • im installing a pioneer in my 1985 toyota 22r doesnt get easyer....

  • have u installed it yet??? are u using a factory harness???

  • very hard car to do I used to charge $100 of labor to install a radio in that car

  • thats a ford mustang with a factory amp lol

  • is it really that easy to just remove the car streo from front without taking it a part with new cars like a 2002 honda odyssey?

  • I wish it was always this easy. Not so

  • ya haha

  • hahahah your right

  • hey guys make sure that it all works before you put it all in

  • So if I have an 07 mustang are the instructions basically the same?

  • no.

  • what does it mean to mastersheet in your car?

  • go to the website and find your ride

  • You do not have to rewire a Mustang with the Mach system. The factory Mach radio powers the tweeters all you have to do is disconnect the wire to the tweeters and connect that plug to a pair of aftermarket speakers and remove the factory mach driver because it just plays lower frequencies and it is powered by the Mach amps is connected to the rear deck. Install your aftermarket radio and there you go.

  • what i find comical about this vid is that was a toyota harness he took out of the bag but the car is a ford mustang.lol

  • i mastersheet in my car when im driving!
