  • Hi, how to initiate mail function?

  • @FullOFaults - this may be a result of some backend issues, either with the parameters you have in your Joomla Global configuration and/or your server.

  • Great Tutorial, um one question, how do authors create articles. PLEASE RESPOND

  • When you login do you not have or see a way to create an article?

  • thx for tut! how do i make a user only have the right to edit ONE page?

  • @wwl777 - this is a good question. Joomla out of the box will not accommodate this. However there are access control components that stretch Joomla's user management tools to get this.

  • @QuicSite thx for the suggestion. Am now using CushyCMS to achieve this, but whenever Ill use joomla again I think I'll look into it.

  • @wwl777 - This is outside of the scope of a comment, but for Joomla 1.5 this is going to be tough. You can make this happen with Joomla 1.6 and the new permission structure, but you'll need to read up on how that works, as there is a little learning curve on understanding how this works.

  • GREAT TUTORIAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Hi there

Great tutorial, Is it possible to individual users to see individual pages. i.e. Can a user log in to his account and only him see or change that individual page. I run a holiday home business and i am converting my website over to joomla. I require my users to be able to log in and change details of their property i.e property description, upload images. I wish to do to from a users private individual page. Please can you help? Many thanks

  • As I understand it and from experience, Joomla out of the box isn't going to do a good job of allowing the authoring user to edit ONLY his/her page they created. Now there are components that extend permissions functions that I think can accomplish this for you. For what you want to accomplish you may consider Drupal :o Although it is a bit more difficult to learn than Joomla. Hope this helps.

  • QuicSite, This video rocks.

  • I have another question, is there a some module available to add new user groups (for example - subscribers) in joomla 1.5? :)

  • The login module will allow for new users to sign up and register with the site. Then once they confirm their email they become part of of the "registered" group. You can change their default group they belong to in the global configuration area. Or from there you can assign the user their needed permissions. For independent user groups, that is, groups that don't use a hierarchy you'll need to use Drupal :o Thanks for the questions and I hope this helps. :)

  • Please answer ive rated 5 stars and suscribed

  • Hi, great account your one and great vids!!

    Ive got a problem...

I've got a joomla and my own username and works fine but, i created a new user to see if it worked correctly, and when i entered all the information (username, password, email, etc..) and pressed confirm, that message of ''You now have to activate your account so visit your hotmail and activate your account''. This message doesnt appear so people might dont know what to do.

What do i do so that this message appears when i register

  • Go to your backend, and you'll find a setting under :Site -> sub tab System and mid way down there is a field called New User Registration. Set this to "Yes". Then retry and let me know ;)

  • Ok this tab was already on ''Yes'' and it still doesnt work :(

    please help meee :D
