  • Good video, hope your staying clean^^

  • sorry man but it's not an epic account, just an account.

  • @inconsistanttruth It was at the time I quit. The point is it had a lot in it that made it even harder to quit but not impossible. Thanks for watching.

  • I'm sorry, but I have to say this... You guys are all idiots. The only reason you think this is a big deal is because you let WoW control you and take over you. It's not the game's fault you can't balance WoW and your lives. I'm a gamer, and I play WoW 2-4 times a week, among other games like Minecraft. I like games, and I will always like games... But I can still see my friends IRL, I can still go to the movies with my wife. The game doesn't control you... You MAKE the game control you...

  • @Snowy042 Jesus Christ thank you!

IMO a fantasy game (not just wow), will always be the same degree as any book you read. It's a story that amounts to nothing but memories and beliefs that can be used in whatever way the mind deems so. It does not force you to play/read, it does not steal life.

Time and memories are what you make out of it =)

The addiction is nonexistent. The sub-world might become real.

    {I played wow and enjoyed it but man, can only learn so much from one source}

  • @WateryIce54321 The problem is a lot of folks let that fantasy become a big part of their reality as they get absorbed in the game, for more than one reason. The addiction is real and deadly.

    Thanks for watching and sharing.

  • @Snowy042 I never blamed the game for my lack of self control when I played it. I WAS an idiot. No more. I quit almost 2 years ago, helped many do the same, have my own business now. You are still playing wow, 'in control' of course. Good for you.

  • @Snowy042 Seconded. If you bury yourself in WoW 24/7, you have other problems. Might as well have been Everquest or now Old Republic. Also, it's never a waste of time afaik if you're having fun.

  • Tanking your way through the challenges in life and becoming a better person > taking stupid 5man PUGs

  • @pbpeex VERY nicely said. Thanks for watching!

  • You could have sold your account for $300+, I sold mine when I quit and got a nice payday :)

  • @LitheInvestor As I have said many times before, I did not want to pass the addiction to someone else. Making money out of another's downfall, very cold. Thanks for watching. Take care.

  • @goodlegacy Thats what I tought, you made the right decision, I just deleted 4 years of wow 20 mins ago ^^ and i already feel FREE !!!!

  • This is awesome. I was addicted to another online game for two years. Quitting was a difficult thing to do, especially since my social life greatly revolved in it.

Initially after I quit, I had problems interacting with people face-to-face, but more than a year have passed since and I can say that my personality has improved significantly.

Found link to this vid from wowdetox. Found wowdetox while gathering info sources for the feature article I'm writing, which is about MMO addiction. :)

  • @scaladelahara Thanks for sharing. Two thumbs up on your feature article on addiction. When we get out of something like that, using our experience to help others is a wonderful thing to do. Thanks for watching.

  • Props to all that quit, but I got news for you. Blizzard can restore chars, gold, items years after you delete it. I'm not kidding

  • @shiezeka It may be true, I see them doing that. However, quitting even temporarily can get one closer to quitting for good. 20 months wow free here and enjoying it immensely. Thanks for watching. Stay strong and God bless.

  • Work and making real money> Wow, cheers all

  • @shiezeka Right on my friend. Thanks for watching. Take care.

  • @shiezeka Amen, I spit on WoW, it stole 4 years of my social life...... and I got only memories to hang on too....

  • I don't get why people like this game. The graphics are shitty and the combat is boring. I got the demo then deleted it after watching my character slowly trade attacks with some dog for like a minute. The game is boring as shit.

  • @SuperBspb Addiction is a powerful thing. I played this game while hating it. Truly insane. Glad to hear you did not go down the drain into it like a lot of us.

  • You've could sold all that info BUT destroy the discs and uninstall the game. That's like over half what you've spent on it, gotten back.

  • @Angerfist1211 Like I said before, selling the account would have meant passing the addiction to another and charging them for it. That is really low. I am glad I destroyed it. It is a cancer.

  • i've never had more than 2 maxed out characters. people just play too much. i don't get it. i log in to wow 3 times a week on tues/weds/thurs and play for 3 hours (raid time) then immediately log off. if you're not retarded there really isn't much out of game theorycrafting you have to do.

pvp blows play a better game (hon/dota2/starcraft)

  • @pskfry Addiction and being retarded do not go hand in hand. Even if you play less than others, you are still addicted. See what happens if you try to quit. Thanks for watching. Take care.

  • @Adamillionaire123 Exactly right my friend. Good job on giving up wow. Stay strong. Thanks for watching.

  • I intend on quitting after I get banned on the private server thats admins and GMs screwed with me... and going to a new game named Jade Dynasty... A LOT less addicting to me actually. :D

  • @Adamillionaire123 haha nice!

  • @DescentFromHeaven Thanks for watching. Take care.

  • lol BADDY

  • @mephud The day i kicked WoW out of my life was an awesome day! Thanks for watching.

  • I played World of Warcraft from October 2007 - June 18, 2011. In the beginning, from 2007-2008, it was the best thing in my life, since I was only 11 years old it was excellent and I thought nothing of consequences that could affect me in the future. After becoming a HUGE loser my first year of High school, (2009-2010) , I KNEW it was time to stop, I saw this video, on that day in June, and quit after watching the last second. Thank you, goodlegacy, for helping me get my life back.

  • @RedMarshal005 Thank God! Thank you for sharing. Feel free to e-mail me at any time. Stay strong, read wowdetox, cravings will come.

  • @goodlegacy Thank you for taking the time out of your day to reply to me. I really appreciate it. It's been a year without WoW, and after about Thanksgiving time with my family last year, the cravings actually stopped! Now, when I think of the game, I think about how sad it is, and how surprising it is that I was able to quit so cold turkey.

  • @RedMarshal005 You are very welcome my friend. Your story is very encouraging and you have the right attitude. God bless you!

  • @goodlegacy Thank you, very, very much. God Bless you as well, my friend.

  • @RedMarshal005 Pardon my mistake, but it was June 18, 2010 when I stopped playing. My apologies.

  • @RedMarshal005 No worries. It is so good when we remember the date we quit. I stopped playing on December 28 2009 and logged in one last time a few hours before my subscription expired on January 15 2010 to make this video.

  • The authenticator put up a fight.

  • @tony225 Yes it did. I was also so tired and weak from lack of exercise. What a waste WoW is!!!

  • 6 members of the WoW staff saw this video

  • So are they quitting now?

  • @MoroseTruth EXACTLY!

  • Very true. Thanks for watching.

  • You don't need to have a connection between WoW and real life.. It can be sepperated .. If you like playing WoW and think it's fun .. Who cares it cost a bit? Your just paying for fun .. That can't be wrong? If you can control it, it will never be a problem .. Just saying

  • It does not matter how little one plays, there is always a connection to real life since playing time involves giving up/not doing other activities. I was way too competitive and that led me to invest a lot of time in it. The bottom line is even if you do not, you indirectly encourage others and ultimately are part of the countless numbers who feed this virtual world by their mere presence in it.

  • @goodlegacy So your just a weak person since you can't control it .. You don't have to play 4 hours a day .. It can be controlled and doesnt have to ruin your social life ...

  • I was weak and selfish because I knew when I played it was wrong. However, I quit. I have helped others quit. Feels very good, I am proud of it. You think you can control it, maybe. Are you helping others? Most definitively not. Thanks for writing.

  • @goodlegacy I don't need to help others self control.. They can go see a doctor or something idc.. The main part is that i can control it and if others can't - quit or learn to self control..

  • Why not help when you are in a position to help? Gaming addiction is not something doctors treat and most don't even recognize.

  • @goodlegacy If you can't control it, you shouldnt ever start playing, it's your own problem, if you start playing, and can't control it. Only play games, if you can control it, if not - Don't play, it's very easy :) Ofc you can help, if people is addicted, and can't quit even though they want to, then there will be a very good reason to help, but nobody told you, that they had a problem, did they? They should ask for help, before getting it. :)

  • @MaltheHerforth There are countless people screaming for help, just read the wowdetox posts. When someone mentions quitting it means they are considering it. There is more than one way of asking for help. I do receive e-mails from people all the time that write either for themselves or family members and ask for advice on how to quit or get them to quit. Some have even credited this video for being the tipping point in their quest to quit.

  • i cant quit wow....

  • @adjekic261 Yes you CAN! You absolutely can. You may have to destroy your computer and cancel your internet but you can quit, there is no question about that in my mind.

  • So you pay 400$ just to quit... Ok..

  • And your point is? Of course I quit and cut my losses! Continuing to play would have resulted in additional expense, monetary and other. There is no profit from playing this game. Thanks for watching.

  • i love this vid..I sent him e-mail

  • @psn123100 Thanks!

  • @goodlegacy thx to u too

  • the funny thing is my father plays all the time but still spends time with me, got me a job and helped with my school, takes my mother out to the movies and dinner(they saw thor yesterday), does his job. He's a hardcore raider too. Has 5 lvl 85 (other alts too). He's got his shit together. Plays wow and has a life. I think the strong people are the ones that can have a hobbie like wow and still have a life. People that are able to be in control.

  • Your dad is a rare example. I would dare say he is extremely tired. When I played, I maintained a lot of normal activities and i HAD to sacrifice sleep. In any event, even though he is managing, he is still encouraging others in their addiction. I hope and pray he quits. Thanks for watching.

  • just becouse you destroy the disks does not mean that you cannot reinstall

  • Very true. However, it does make it harder and it does make a statement. When you tell the whole world you are quitting and put it on video, trust me, if not for anything else, you do not want to go back and look like a joke. Thanks for watching.

  • i were very addicted for wow about 4 months ago and i wouldnt even think about quitting but i played so much that i got bored and now i deleted wow and i dont even want to play it and there is much better games like cs and cod and stuff like that

  • Good JOB!!!! Beware though, cravings will come. Stay strong my friend and thanks for watching.

  • U know u cud sell that acc for maybe 200$

  • And do what? Pass the addiction on to someone else? No thank you.

  • i quit wow, but i can t feel diference

  • What did you expect?

  • it was cruel but i i quitted too i have 4 months to log on and im very happy with my after-wow life:P

  • Good job! Thanks for watching and stay strong.

  • shit. that hurts.

  • It would hurt more not to quit.

  • nice job dude i recently quit wow and my life is alot better

  • Good job mate, thanks for the encouragement.

  • @goodlegacy LOL

    1. I blame myself.

    2. Dramatic and effective. Can YOU do it? If not, why?

    3. Yes it did. I had offers. I said no since I did not want to pass the addiction on to someone else and contribute in destroying lives. WoW is a cancer.

I could not care any less how you think I sound. I know I did the right thing. How do the drones that play and all they talk about is the game? Are you one of them?

  • 1. Don't blame the game for not being able to play moderately.

    2. Whats the point of deleting gear and then the character? Dramatic?

    3. Ever occurred to you that you could have possibly sold your account getting some monies out of it?

Basically you sound like a televangelist.

  • @Harby13

    1. The game, especially toward the end, does not lend itself to moderate play.

    2. For the same reason you get rid of a wedding or engagement ring from an ex. It's cathartic to let go of things that mean a lot to you, but that you want nothing to do with anymore.

    3. Making money off of someone elses problem (which is what the account might have become, had he sold it) is what a televangelist would do.

  • Well said mate, thanks for watching.

  • @Harby13 1) ROFL are you joking? When you get to around level 60, you have to play a LOT to get one level a day. it's ridiculous... i had 4 lvl 80s. i know leveling. it's ridiculous.

    2) to have fun with it?

    3) It's his choice dude why do YOU care?

  • Hey dude, you did a great job quitting.

But I jus wanna say a few words: WoW is just a game, like everything in this world, EVERYTHING needs to be done in moderation. (That includes WoW!)

For me, I only play during my looong holidays. I subscribed for 2 - 3 months only in a year.

Infact its more fun to play when you dont over play it. I'll get bored even if i play for 2 months consecutively. So control urself, n if u cant.. .DELETE it n safe urself.

Good job to dis guy :)

  • Thanks for watching and take care.

  • dude

    good job

and screw the wow nerds for giving u shit about quitting

they allways want people to keep playing

    i rly wonder why

they gave me shit too when i said i quit

i think they just dont want to be left behind in the boring repetitive world of warcraft where you kill the same guy 225256 times for loot

  • Thanks for watching. When one is addicted and another quits it makes them uncomfortable. Some really do not see how one can get from under the grip of this game, it is that addicting.

  • if you gonna quit why on earth you prefer deleting your characters insted of selling them for real money? at least you could get some of that money you spend (waste) back

  • It is a matter of principle. If you smoke and decide to quit, would you give your last pack to someone else?

  • Has life been any better since you quit? Been over a year since you made this vid, figured I'd ask

  • YES! Life without wow is amazing. My mind is free from the mental prison wow provided. I actually freed my potential to be really productive. I also realized on a far lesser level I was addicted to other things beside wow and I have taken steps to correct that as well. I started a photography business and it is an awesome feeling to create something that exists outside the screen of a computer.

    Thanks for watching the video.

  • @goodlegacy Realllly? That's amazing! Photography? :D

  • @DescentFromHeaven Yes, it is. The joy of creating instead of just consuming what others create.

  • Just another WoW quitting vid, gratz, you quit, what's the point? do these people want a medal or something?

  • I cannot speak for others. I made the video to encourage others and myself. It is a failsafe. Imagine making a video and then relapsing into the game, how moronic is that?

    Thanks for watching.

  • its not the game mate, its you...not everyone is as addicted as to have several top level characters with full gear and money...if you cant cope with wow AND life fine. But others can

  • Even if you can, have you considered you are encouraging others in their addiction?

  • @goodlegacy i´m not trying to encourage others addiction, but the opinions of lots that dont play depend on people like you, and influences others who are treated as if they were addicted... you must understand that there are many more people that just play wow as a normal game than addicts and you are affecting both

  • i just quiit 3 weeks ago, 2 accounts ,3 85's and 8 or 9 bankers and half million gold ,but ii didnt delete anything , i miight pickk it up again next winter , this seems drastic lol...

  • Just quit for good mate.

  • I dont think it's addictive, personally i've been playing for years but I go out every day like any other person, and play around an hour or two a day

  • If you cannot separate yourself from this game, you are addicted, no matter how little you play.

  • @goodlegacy I do seperate my self from the game though? the days i go to school, when i go out to a friends, when i go to sleep, when i drink and eat...

  • Separation is quitting. It is understood no one can play 24/7 with no breaks.

  • @goodlegacy w/e people who quit WoW obviously can't take it in moderation, quitting wow in my opinion isn't that big of a deal.

  • @ShadowKid121 Then DO IT!!!

  • The game is only unhealthy if you play way too much. You can play an hour a day and still live a normal life

  • If you cannot separate yourself from this game, you are addicted, no matter how little you play.

  • Do you play an hour a day?

  • Ohh come on this game doesn't have to be addictive.. you can play It casually :l

  • If you cannot separate yourself from this game, you are addicted, no matter how little you play.

  • @goodlegacy So your saying im addicted to bread. I eat it every day. I don't stop because I like it. Same would go for world of warcraft you don't stop because you like it. when you can't afford it you quit. (Atm I'm not playing WoW but EVE online though.

  • You are comparing wow to bread. Subconsciously, the connection you have with gaming is stronger than you realize.

  • @goodlegacy Well I haven't touched my PC for 4 days now just got back.. if i was addicted I would've brought a laptop or some shit.

  • Did you think about it and could not wait to return to it? Did you plan your next move for when you came back and resumed playing?

  • @goodlegacy Only thing I thought about was one game that was gonna be released but for the rest.. meh not really.

  • I deleted my 80 Mage a few weeks ago. This game takes over your life. Cataclysm made me realise that it is not worth it any more.

  • Welcome to life.

  • @goodlegacy - Yeah man, I feel a lot better already. The worst part of this game is that even when you are not actually playing - all you can think about is getting back home to play it! It is really unhealthy and can totally take over your life!

  • Good job my friend. Keep it up.

  • Nice job to you as well. Keep strong. Thanks for watching.

  • I quit that crappy game 3 months ago...best decision I ever made. I have deleted 13 lvl 80's over 3 realms. So, my time invested is over 5 years of playtime.

    Thumbs up bud!

  • Thumbs up to you too my friend. If you can quit, anybody can. Good job and God bless.

  • @txfirefighter

wow 13 lvl 80s, when the game has 10 classes, power level much or fake much ?

  • The whole game is fake. The only thing that is not fake is the consequence it has on one's life.

  • I have absolutely no idea how you did that. That video was so hard to watch.

  • Something happened to me yesterday, i was playing WoW , i had no idea what would happen later, and when i was browsing the internet, i saw a blog about wow addiction. The addicted people there were just like me and .... On the same evening i deleted all my 85 characters and sent all my money to my IRL friends who were also playing WoW. Now after the first day without it, i feel kinda relieved... For all you WoW gamers there, give it up before it's too late. It's not easy but its worth it. Peace

  • Gratz mate! Now stay strong. WoW detox is a great resource. Use it. Thanks for watching.

  • well done dude. ill be joining you very soon.

  • Please do, come out of the darkness of the fecal matter called wow. Thanks for watching.

  • Hmm why didnt you sell it? At elast you could get some money out of it.

  • If you quit smoking, do you give/sell your cigarettes out to another smoker?

  • @goodlegacy Since he is willingly smokes, yes :)

  • You'll come back, eveyone does eventually. If you do contact me and I'll give you 1k gold to get you started.

  • LOL. You can give me 100 000 gold and I would not come back. I can see it is hard for you to believe, people do quit the fecal matter called wow and never look back. Once you are freed from the addiction, when you look back, it is shame and regret for playing, not longing to go back. Thanks for watching.

  • Congrats quitting, it can be tough but at the same time a big relief.

The main problem is that most people play too much and lose the enjoyment and fun, then quitting seems like the only option. Complete abstinence can be very tough. You quit because gaming has taken over so badly it become too much to handle. However, 6 months down the line, when things seem to have calmed and settled, many gamers simply end up logging back in and getting sucked back. Personally I found another way to success.

  • Yes, very true. That is why the reason for quitting is paramount. I quit because this game was ruining my life and my health and that of others. I would not play again, ever, even if they paid me.

  • well done man.. i quit this game almost 2 years ago and haven't missed it in the least. its not until you're free of it that you realize just how shitty a game it truly is

  • Thanks for watching. You are exactly right.

  • yo could give out your gold to noobs... xd

  • And feed their newly found addiction? No thank you.

  • Why would you delete something your blood sweat and tears went into, such as getting your characters capped and geared and throwing it away? I don't know about you, but I don't want to destroy the house I've worked so hard to build. It feels...wasted. I only went back to WoW to finish what I've started, and I got my mage to level 80. I don't have money to play the game anymore, so I'm sure it counts as quitting.

  • Not all sweat and blood is for a good purpose. Hence, when it is not and it destroys other things, then it must be eliminated unless one's entire life is ruined. Ironically, saying this is one's sweat and blood implies this game is not fun but work. That in itself is a problem and reason enough to quit.

    Thanks for watching. Take care.

  • @goodlegacy "more work than fun" Is that why you were quitting? Or is it because it's always the same carrot on a stick every xpac?

  • Both of those, however the main reason was how unhealthy it was, both for me and my family.

  • Why did he do that?

  • Awesome video. I thought it was very inspirational.

  • Thanks for watching and God bless.

  • You could have given, or sold that account for a profit. Instead for some damn unknown reason you delete it.

Well all the power to those who quit, but I play and quite enjoy my time on this game. Im not addicted and I just quit whenever. Don't know why some people feel that they just can't quit... Weakness comes to mind.

  • Have you watched the whole video? I do state the reason for not giving away/selling the account: to not pass the addiction to someone else. It is a matter of principle. I have a question: can you not play at all? Like in never, ever? If the answer is no and you cannot imagine your life without WoW, then you are addicted. Take care and thanks for watching.

  • @goodlegacy

No. Actually I play WoW in cycles. I play it for a few months, stop playing for a few months and start back. By no means am I addicted. I just thinks it's a fun way to pass the time, and have some fun. I play with one of my best friends on there too. We both enjoy it.

  • Hope Blizzard was watching this. wow boring when u hit 80 no offence wow lovers.

  • Wow is fecal matter dressed up in a carrot on a stick. Thanks for watching my friend.

  • I sold my account. Freed my mind from that cancer and got some cash as well. After a few weeks of not playing I began to realize how insidious that game is. Kill stuff collect stuff get stuff. Wash rinse repeat. Add a little twist to make it interesting. Change some graphics here and there. The definition of insanity is repeating the same action and expecting a different result

  • Congrats to both of you. Keep it up my friend and God bless.

  • NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO HELP ME I NEED HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! IAM SERIOUYS! I SPEND FROM LIKE 10 IN THE MORNING UNTILL RIGHT NOW CUS IAM GOING TO BED . ITS 12:41 AT NIGHT!

  • Read wowdetox.com until you cannot stand it anymore and see if you still feel like playing after.

  • congratz for quitting.

you helped me out a lot, i just uninstalled all my games from my pc.

  • thanks for watching and gratz on quitting. I too uninstalled and threw away ALL my games.

whenever I get a note such as yours it is such a joy, so much more rewarding than downing any boss in wow or getting an 'epic'. God bless you my friend.

  • After ~10months - it's nothing more than a noobgear you destroying there :P

Thats how fast your epics (read wasted time/energy/your helth) become useless.

  • Yes, it is all vanity. Thanks for the post.

  • Gratz to all who quit i quit as well life is so much better now im finding a lot better things to take up my time learning a new language and working out :D

  • Thanks alot , I had quit this Terrible game back in august.. & have been doing GREAT until just recently beggining to have a relapse & wanting to play so I looked up "Wow addictions" in youtube then watched this video.. now im reading the Wowdetox site you mentioned in your video.. Just want to say the Demon is at bay once again . Thanks alot for posting your story , Stay Strong

  • You are more than welcome. Gratz on keeping up the good fight. Reading wowdetox is massively important, it has helped me keep the cravings at bay. Thanks for watching and God bless.

  • Good for u that u quit, but why u deleting the gear THEN delete the character? i mean its faster just to delete the character straight away? :)

  • Thanks for watching. I deleted the gear for 2 reasons: it took a lot of time to get it and it makes it even harder to come back. Second, it was to make a statement, obliterate the fecal matter called wow.

  • congrats!

  • thanks

  • I quit last summer. Played since 06. Good job on quiting too. I hope your video will inspire others. I've repaired my body from all the bad food I ate while playing. I went extreme and bought a Treadmill and my health is back. I feel and look better. As I lost the weight, over time, the looks from women increased, still single, but I'm in no rush. I still get hit on a lot. If you can program your mind to click buttons for hours, one hour burning 500 calories is nothing. HEALTH > WOW

  • Well done mate!

  • Quit now....

when u are addicted U CANNOTrealise it and spending all those long hours trying to get "Bits and Bytes", i repeat ,Bits and Bytes" seems something nornal.I quited when i found out that i prefer playling wow than having sex with my gf...its pathetic

quit as soon as you can

  • I had every class at 80, downed every boss and hardmode but LK in Wotlk, and I quit just because I was bored

  • My tale is a long one, play WoW since classic waiting warcraft 1 with no behaviour never felt alone, felt crazy in WoW it was the place where i felt in all my powers able to do anything, Tarren Mill 10 80s t 10 full one every one of them, constantly trying to beat up kungens ass and only once being able to with my mage gnome, all chars were : 4 pally 3 warrs 1 druid 1 hunter 1 mage , t10 and s8 full on still, the same on delete it felt like it was nothing, solution - delete , unninstal.

  • Gratz for quitting and thanks for watching. Keep strong my friend. E-mail me any time.

  • Woot! I quit 7 days ago it only had me in its grip for 6 months. GET OUT WHILE YOU CAN THIS GAME WILL SWALLOW YOU!!!

  • Amen. Way to go man!

  • This video have made me change. This one is different, because you do everything by yourself. In other videos, girlfriends, parents or friends delete other accounts of the game, but you did this with your own account. I really loved this video, it gave me inspiration to do the same.

Sorry if my english is bad, I am a brazilian teenage boy.

  • Thanks for watching and sharing. Glad to see the video has helped you. Keep up the good work.

  • i never played this game it looks boring. once you go outside man you see these hot women and you can play with them
