It's not counterintuitive, if an officer tells you to stop doing something then you should STOP. She could have avoided this entire situation and kept her friend from being punched in the face if she had just stopped and gone to the crosswalk when the officer asked her to do so. It's not only for her own safety but for the safety of drivers. If a pedestrian is hit the driver is almost always held accountable because they're in a vehicle but using crosswalks minimizes the potential for accidents.

@neeta37 glad you said your opioion but here my opioion video is a lie she was not arrested for jay walking. she was arrested for disobey and officer, restrited arrest and the other lady was charge for assult an officer. by intfereing with him trying to arrest the other lady.

first of all who ever came up with being arrested for jay-walking,given a ticket yea but not arrested and hell yea he could of went about that a different way if your husband , boyfriend or whom ever punches you in the face and its recorded your ass is going to jail and the recording will be used as evidence.

She was wrong period point blank! Regardless, she challenged the authority of the cop and interfered with an arrest. This area has been a problem for a nearby high school. They fear the safety of the kids..which is understandable. Her mother/father..need to whip her @#$ for behavior... besides being a cop..he is a man...Men should not hit women...they hold saying goes..hit me and I hit you back period point blank :D

the officer over-reacted, but if you jaywalked and he is going to give you a ticket for jaywalking, how is that racist and why would you physically confront him? so no, the girl didn't deserve a punch in the face, but how about showing police officers some respect and I'm sure they will do the same. imagine his surprise when he is simply trying to issue a ticket and this crap ensues.

@lnbwood I hear what you are saying, but if I get a ticket for jaywalking I'd just take it and move ahead. It's hard for me to understand why someone would get so indignant and combative over something so trivial. So you are right, the officer should not have escalated the situation like that but from the video it looks like things spun out of control very quickly and could have all been avoided if the jaywalkers had just obeyed the officers requests.

@keoki9 If I was poor and got a ticket that was hard for me to pay, then it would be more of a punishment than someone who can afford it. If I have to figure out how to pay a jaywalking ticket instead of a light bill I would be upset. Would I do what she did? Of course not. But this is a case of two wrongs don't make a right.
At the same time, though, I would far rather be punched by an officer than tased..never been electrocuted and don't want to expience it.
