If ancient peoples had condemned the domestication of the grey wolf there would be no chocolate labs for self-righteous yuppies to fawn over either. Cheetahs have been kept as hunting companions by humans for eons. The care they require means that not everyone can own one. But if this man can do so then I see no harm in it, ideally cheetahs sold as pets should be born in captivity. Captive bred cheetahs constitute a pool that can be drawn upon for the eventual restoration of wild populations.
malnourished?!?! dude r u blind??? this cheetah is actually quite obese for its age..its well fed. ... and btw... cheetahs make EXCELLENT pets...they r not aggressive at all...they do not behave dominantly...a rottweiler dog would be 10 times more dangerous than a cheetah
I guess, I'm gonna have to be the one, to say it. EVERY domestic animal, was once "wild." The ONLY difference, between a wolf, and Fido, is someone took Fido's great great great great grandfather, and grandmother. And they started breeding the dog. So it would be more, tame. So what's the big deal? Why can't we do that, with other, "wild" animals? Honestly, cheetahs have got to be the easiest, out of all "wild" cats, to domesticate. I know, that's just my opinion. But I'm right.
OMG, People in alot of states it's not against the law to own a cheetah or ANY big cat!! You can buy them online or order on at any exotic pet store... Simple. Cheetahs are the safest out of all wild cats to own. Cheetahs are not fighters they are the ultimate pasivist in the wild because injury to a cheetah is almost a death sentence. Cheetah have lower attack incidents than most domestic dogs!!!
So there's apparently only 100 of these in the whole world. I'm so glad to know that it's in the care of some douchebag who thinks it'll make his penis seem a little bigger. This is a prime example of why people just fucking suck.
@MegaBoners theres actually between 15000 and 25000 left in the wild and another 1000 left in captivity. Cheetahs are listed as vulnerable on the conservation status, not endangered. Learn your shit before you go spouting out bullshit. This is a prime example of why people just fucking suck
@carsonpalmer23 So? They're still not least concern on the conservation status. I screwed up my facts, but the only example of why people just fucking suck are people like you trying to defend this asshole who owns a cheetah. They are roaming animals that do not belong in a house as some douchebag's vanity pet.
although just about every single animal species would do extremely better domesticated survival wise but most wild animals that are domesticated not only deny them their natural instincts but also many domesticated wild animals it shortens their life span.
Cheetah mothers are killed every day in the wild so their cubs can be sold as pets ILLEGALLY as pets. No one has a legal license to own a cheetah. There is no such thing. Thanks to the illegal pet trade traffic, cheetahs are quickly racing towards extinction. I guess men feel more masculine if they own one. How pathetic.
hey friend,I was working for some ong's here in brazil,I had the opportunate to be in some project with exotic animals from our wild,I'm ally with the local falconry here, but this same ong had been recived some flines,in brazil of course,we have no cheetahs, whatever, what I'm mean on diversity is how do you do to get the license to get an animal like that in your country?where are you from?hasta luego
@arielfm76 An animal is only wild until it is domesticated. It may take a couple generations, but you have to start somewhere if you want to domesticate an animal. If one wishes to preserve a species, this is the best means to providing them with increased longevity. And in the process some people make a lot of money - which I'd prefer they made money selling the animal alive than killing it and then selling it for the parts. We all win this way. Pchers exist because they don't have money
This is a wild animal not a pet. To say they are not dangerous is ridiculous. Working at a zoo @Torriekey66 you should know better. Zoos are for people, sanctuaries are for animals. Every animal is dangerous to a degree. A wild animal is not a pet and should be in the wild, or at a legit sanctuary. Keeping a wild animal as a pet is selfish, not matter what your say. You have no reason to own them except for your own greed.
I must say that this is one of the only exotic cats that I really do not have a peeve against people keeping. Back in the day they were kept as pets by royalty and used for hunting, and it will encourage the breeding of the species which it is common knowledge is HIGHLY endangered. They are very docile and I have seen this firsthand.
Why would anyone try and keep a cheetah? It is hard enough keeping a housecat happy, it seems impossible to keep a wild animal happy in captivity. Animals are not toys. What is a lifespan on a cheetah anyways?
@sheraarehs cheetahs have a 12 year lifespan in the wild and 20 years in captivity. Actually they are the best exotic cat choice of a pet versus the others. They are the smallest and calmest. As long as proper environment, nutrition, and respect is provided.
while it is true cheetah is a wild animal, but they are far less wild and agressive than lion or tiger, so they can be kept as pet if you have the money to feed it
@Foothis78 That's right. One day the cheeta will act as a wild animal it is, it will attack those people...and the result?people will say it's dangerous and will kill it u.u
@chibibankai Cheetahs are not aggressive and will not kill anyone, they are no more dangerous than having a large dog. I have worked with them at a zoo, when they are around familiar faces they act like huge house cats.
Wow, I love cheetahs! They are the cutest things! I just wish I could at least pet one. ^^ Yeah, I wonder if cheetahs are legal there... that one especially. It's a "teenager" So I dunno if it is right to keep a cat that old and big in a small place like that... unless there is a bigger space. Still, I love 'em all the same! =D ~Fallingmoon the dork
