  • Great!

  • I live in Peterborough (the setting of the play) what a great work of art this play is! Thornton's a genius.

  • Paul was fantastic in this and so deserved the Tony for best actor that year but lost to Brian Dennhey

  • Our time is the most inspirational play I have ever seen for me

  • What a fantastic actor he was

  • I've read this play over thirty times, performed in it once. It's still the only show that can bring a tear to my eye. Simply beautiful job take on it.

  • As Stage Manager - Newman rocked. Still love Hal - but it''s a natural voice thing.

  • ive got the role of Stage Manager wish me luck!!

  • ty for posting, this is my favorite part of the play

  • my drama class is going to preform this play :) im gunna audition for the narrator :D

  • I was cast in the role of Emily:) wish me luck! our first show is next Thursday:)

  • Also, that section about 'There is something eternal about eveyr human being.' Gives me chills every time.

  • just hwo I imagine it when I read it. Great performance.

  • ahhhh i just wanna straighten his goddamn tie

  • I played Simon Stimpson in my schools production of Our Town. Such a strange but awesome play!

  • Good luck wicked chicago!!!! I love this play and saw it at Barrow St. Theatre in NYC earlier this year. Wonderful!!

  • I was just cast in this role, and am so inspired watching this. No idea how I'll pull it off, but this definitely helped out a lot. :)

  • I play Emily in a production of "Our Town", is there any where i can find this entire production, because this is amazing

  • do you have the full film of this production?

  • I'm lucky enough to be blessed with this role... I don't know how I'm ever going to do it, though. :S

  • We are doing this play at school next year. I am probably Auditioning. This is awesome!

  • can this be bought or watched online

  • @SophiaofOz Bought for about 10bucks brand new but not online though sorry.

  • Groovdiva, I haven't been able to find a clip of that production where the Stage Manager was a teenage girl, Mrs. Gibbs was black and Mr. Webb was Asian, but the best production I have ever seen, one that blew away all the rest, and the Wilder estate agreed, was the one at Lincoln Center with Penelope Ann Miller as Emily....really wonderful...I'll try to send you the clip at your address.

  • this is my favorite play of all time. it has so much meaning to it.

  • i'm going to play mrs gibbs at summer.......

it's a hard but great play......

"at least choose a day with no meaning, choose the most meaningless day of your life.....but that is also going tobe very important......."

    great lesson of life.......

  • @kebem94lz any tips on the role? i'm an understudy for a performance coming up in a month.

  • @GroovDiva well,i'm not a professional so i don't have really good advice...:)

the most important is to play with passion and at the 3rd act try to be "decently sad"......

  • We played this in Filipino Version.,.. in our high school....

  • Ravenrandom, there was a production in New York that not only featured a teenage girl as the Stage Manager, but had Emily's mom as black, and her dad as Asian, and she was white! And George and Emily were middle-aged! But I think you will do a great job, just concentrate on the unique things you can bring to the role that an old man can't.

  • @nicodagger: Are there any clips of the New York production posted anywhere?? I'd love to view it, because my own director adjusts the time settings & character bios, including the ethnicity of the Gibbses. It's set in the '50's, but Grover's Corners remains an oasis from the rest of the world (let alone the rest of NH).

  • this show just does not work on film. its meant to be on stage it's part of the whole experience. but paul newman is great of course.

  • what is the song they sing at her burial? i neeeeeed to know! it's also the one they sing at the wedding!

  • Blessed Be The Tie That Binds... it's an old hymn

  • yes! thank you soooo much! i've been searching everywhere!

  • Blessed Be The Tide That Binds; we're currently doing this show @ my school and that song has been in my head for WEEKS!!

  • i ve played this as george for my english school.... :)

  • i played emily in our high school production of this. My name is Emily, so it was really cool!!

  • I am the stage manager in my drama class production of Our Town... and I'm a girl too. Paul Newman is amazing and obviously there is no way i can be as amazing as him but i definitely draw a lot of inspiration from this guy. RIP.

  • do you know where can I watch this online? I love this play.

  • Paul Newman plays the STAGE MANAGER, not the narrator.

  • haha, thank you. title has been adjusted.
