Come on! Be fair guys! To biggalal1992, WTBRockMusic, yllodnkcor and everyone else that keeps repeating the shit crowd thing, I would say, remember that this is the opening song of a set by a band that wasnt really that well known 10 months ago when this was filmed. This was at least 2 months before the album came out - and 4 months before Fairground was released as a single.
Most of the audience would only have known Unfinished Business and Death. Both of which got a good response BTW.
As I've said before when people have said, "shame about the crowd" etc about my early White Lies clips - you have to remember that this gig was at least 2 months before the album came out - and 4 months before Fairground was released as a single.
Most of the audience would only have known Unfinished Business and Death.
Very few people would have known any the lyrics of Fairground 9 months ago so you can't really blame them for not singing along!
Saw them in for a few days ago. Just as a warm-up for Kings of Leon. Its a okay band, and this particulary song is great, but I think they should be careful not to become too mainstream.
I did notice that they seem to be playing From The Stars and E.S.T. at 'album speed' on the recent tour though - certainly slower than in the past. Great songs whatever speed they play them at IMHO.
Yeah. I think everyone - including the band - is pretty bored with the whole Joy Division comparison. IMHO they are not like JD and are not trying to sound like JD.
But...just because a band changes their name & style doesn't make them 'totally manufactured' - look up Sub Sub.
And while you are at it, DO look up Fear of Flying. They were already performing Farewell to the Fairground a couple of year ago - and it didn't sound THAT different!
Actually the band got a really good response at this gig, and Harry has said that it was one of his favourite shows so far. You have to remember that this was only their second London headline show - and the venue was 3 times the size of the previous one (ICA). And, of course, this is 2 months before the album came out - a lot of the audience wouldn't know either of these songs yet.
nah, I like everything the Killers have ever done, I don't mind if it's the more retro sound of Mr Brightside or the more mellow sound of Goodnight, Travel Well. The only song I hated with a passion on their most recent album was Joy Ride
i never cared for mr brightside as much, but the killers rocked their first album. i liked their second too and sawdust was ok but i didnt really like much of Day and Age. Brandon like comepletely changed the way he sang for that album and i didnt like it much
Okay for all you haters out there, if you think they're not a good band, go listen to their cover of Kanye West's Love Lockdown, pointed out in the info, and then come back and say that.
Only a good band could take a song that is soo far outta their genre like that and completely make it their own.
They do sound like The Editors, and Franz firdinand, and also a bit like Duran Duran's older stuff.
I don't know what everyone's problem is, i mean they're not teh best band live, but it looks like they put on a good show. I mean take most bands outta the recording studio and they won't sound exactly the same.
I personally think they're amazing, the lead singers voice is soo amazing.

Not this very second.
My point, however, is that this sounds like Duran Duran's back catalogue compressed into one awful song.
The guy's voice is so unbelievably contrived it makes me want to go and lie in a darkened room for a while and convince myself that the British music industry couldn't possibly foster this sort of appaling shit.
Interesting that you say that. Check out my video of White Lies playing E.S.T. at the Komedia, Brighton. Listening to the chorus "I hope you remember me" etc (esp. the second time with Charles' harmony vocal) - always really reminds me of Stuart Adamson.
Was slightly disappointed by the album version of this track, as the tempo is quite a lot slower on the studio version, and i love the urgency and rawness of this version in comparison.
They are fantastic live though, i'd thoroughly recommend them to anyone!
They opened with it at Manchester absolutely immense tune cant wait for the album, seems a shame that all the Fear Of Flying stuff will be left on the cutting room floor though, they had some top tunes

Her name is rio and she dances on the sand!................ fits almost perfectly and this guy's voice sounds like an 80's sample.
There's inspiration and then there's impressionism.
Duran Duran/Joy Division/Planet Earth as pointed out below/ several others.
This band have NOTHING original to bring to music.
ALL bands inevitably have their influences but the ones worth listening to also have something original about them.
This lot are nothing more than (very cleverly) overhyped charlatans.
sugarwillkillyou 2 years ago
How can you say this band have nothing original to bring to music?
If you dont like the band or this song, why waste your time writing pointless comments on here?! or arguing that they are 'overhyped charlatans'
clearly you have nothing better to do with your time.
like to see you come up with something better!
