Rogers is playing his axe through a Leslie (organ) speaker while playing rhythym. That's where that organ-like tone is coming from. He's nailing it...
intro kinda sounds like it was influenced by the Allman Brothers One Way Out..call me crazy I hear it.....but these guys are awesome in concert a must see show
herring is one of the few guys who can properly wield a PRS... doesn't use a ton of distortion and knows how to bring out the tonal nuances... amazing player
Col. Bruce was the leader of Aquarium Rescue Unit which put Jimmy Herring on the map. Also Oteil Burbridge of Allman Bros. and his brother Kofi of Derek Trucks Band and Jeff Sipe of Leftover Salmon and Jazz is Dead. The Col. is a god!
@poptarto420 - that songs a staple of bruce's, but if anyone wants to know what The Codetalkers were about, you have to look at Bobby Lee Rodgers cuz he wrote all the original tunes and sang them and played the sheet out of the guitar on them. Also google "Herring, Rodgers, Sipe" - the band played BLR's music and kicked arse!! Neal Fountain on bass tooo
Warning: Anyone listening to Jimmy Herring play guitar (with ANY band) is subject to growing recceptor sites on your soul, which will take you to fantastic hights and embed within you a fire and passion never known before, if you will only stop and open your mind; to the one, and only ...
Wasn't that guy with the V on swing blade? The one that wrote the lyrics to the sonds "Doyle" and his band played? Maybe he just resembles him, and sounds like him!
wow that was awesome jimmy, this guy is one of my favorite guitarist at the moment and i am axited that he joined the legedary widespread panic, i hope he joins The Dead when/or if they come out with a tour, he rocks with them i saw he 3 years ago when he joined them AMAZING
The Col. turned Derek onto Ali Akbar Khan and a lot of the Indian classical influences that are readily evident in his playing. I saw Jimmy play with DTB in Athens, GA on 3-31-06 and they blew the roof off. Often times it was difficult to distinguish who was playing lead because Jimmy and Derek sound so much alike. Plus, they have like a Duane/Dickey countermelody thing going on that is unbelievable. They never step onto each others toes...
Ive seen these guys in concert and sometimes you forget that the guy is playing a guitar. Sounds just like an organ. Warren Haynes also play through one too.
BOBBY LEE RODGERS (last name has a D in it - you'll find more videos that way)

It's not an acoustic - it's a Gibson ES 125 (late 1950's). It's an electric archtop style guitar with a P90 pickup.
