Very nice features; I am planning on building again in near future and would certainly like this when it comes to storage. Anyone have this type plane on floats. Always had high wing
Wow.. This is awesome. I could see fabricating a light aluminum dolly to hold the wingtip up to make it a completely 1 man operation. Hand winch on the trailer with 3 pull out ramps for the wheels to go up on, and youre done.. Looks like aircraft ownership is starting to look somewhat realistic for the average joe, like me.
Now I'm really interested in the plane. Hanger fees are the same as a car payment here and I've got a heated garage that I could easily store this plane in.
Been there, done that. Sucks doesn't it? You put all of the blood/sweat/tears into it and feel like it's yours and BAM, move away and dad keeps it. :( On the plus side you will find the tanks are usually full when you come home to visit.
This Aircraft is developing well I like what I see the simplicity & performance seems too be meating & passing all design criteria I still want one in Australia the question now is when?
The fuel tank is in the fuselage behind the passengers. The control linkages hook up automatically when you shove the wing into place...those 2 I know.
Heh, although I would think that there would be some fail-safe engineered into it, i wonder if at some point someone will put the wings in up-side-down, on the wrong side or both. Hopefully anyone that buys it has enough sense not to.
I've owned and flown several sailplanes and this looks like one of the easier wing removal/installations I've seen. I think this will be a strong selling feature for the RV-12. Being able to tie your plane out at the airport in the summer and then take it back to your garage in the winter will be a big plus for a lot of pilots.

wouldn't it be cool just taxiing around without the wings? lol just imagine the looks on the ATC controllers face

That is just awesome.

It's all about being affordable.
Good job Van :)

Well done, Van.

is there a rear spar attach point? video seems to show only one big pin for each wing...
iwantafarm 4 years ago
Looks like both spars extend to the other side of the fuselage. One pin would go through both spars?

Doesn't seem to show much for control linkages, either. Also, I'm not sure if the fuel is in a fuselage tank or in the wings......
