My band geek friends and I were all going on a weekend church retreat the week before a concert when were playing this. We would all just sit around the fire humming our parts, and we got the weirdest looks from people! :D This will always be the only non-circus march I truly love.
We played this two years ago in 9th grade. We had a band of about 80 people. 15 trumpets, 4 horns, 4 tubas, 6 trombones, 14 clarinets, 16 saxes, from bari to alto, 14 flutes, 4 misc. woodwinds, and 8 perc.
We just played this song at a competition. I play trombone and just hated the trio. It was so hard to get it to sound in tune with the rest of the band.
We are playing this. II hate this march. I hate playing it because i'm a horn and I hate the tune at the Trio. I asked my director if he was going to pick a march to play please pick sousa and he said no.
Played way too fast. This is a Karl KIng March, not a Karl KIng Galop like Rough Riders. Play it like a normal march 120 beats per minute. Good accenst on the cymbals and bass drum!! Rollie Jensen, drummer, Karl KIng Band, Ft. Dodge, Iowa
thank you for posting this! since i can't find it on napster, smartmusic, anywhere... i play in a community band and we were handed this kinda late. it's easy to play but i find music even easier to play anything if i hear a recording first. y'all sound great!
were doing thing piece for a 7th and 8th grade spring concert and i think its a cool piece. im a trombonist so i kinda dont get a real melody in like, any pieces. even tho the low brass doesnt exactly have the melody, i still think its pretty cool.
Terrific! I'm a band director at a Christian School in Deltona Fl and can certainly appreciate the smaller band size. We have about 45 in our upper group which is a combination of 6th-12th grades. You all play very well for a smaller ensemble, clean and careful attention is evident. I always tell my kids it's quality not quantity we're after. Best of luck to you all in the future!!
geez robbie be a little more creative, we did this a few years ago in my freshman or sophomore year, cant remember which :P i miss you guys and keep up the good work!!
Wow - nice job - what school is this? I like the part that kicks right at 1:00 and again at 1:27 That little bit there was used as the news intro at WIBC Radio in Indianapolis for many years. Bob M
