  • Love the one against the Islanders when the guy is down on the ice looking for his teeth!

Scott Stevens, Hall of Famer, should never have been let go by the Capitals.

  • Wow, notice most of these were combined with Neidermayer. The real bash bros!

  • man he was awesome but fuck him for killing paul kariya's career. He didn't have the puck, and wasn't looking. Just took one dirty hit to put a stain on his career he will never get out!

  • @MrFriggoff uhh, your boy scott stevens...

  • number 3 - fuck you for hitting one of our russians

  • i hate this guys!!! Please dont tell me these 10 hits are cleans!!!!! We can see the head bounce first!

  • Notice how the top two hits ruined two great players careers. Lindros should of had his head up, but the Kariya hit was a very late hit and malicious in my opinion. I liked Scott Stevens for the most part but when he what he did to Kariya and the after effects of it, I will never forgive Stevens for. Kariya's career ended because of you and I will always hate you for that Stevens, but that is all I have against you. Otherwise a very clean hitter. In my opinion, many disagree with this I assume.

  • Wow. All those hits were clean, but were they ever sickening to watch. As someone who suffered a minor concussion in hockey, i cannot imagine how these guys could ever play pro again after getting hit like that.

  • wow. i can remember this guy, but what a effin goon this guy is. (imo)

  • @unclesam49788 Name 1 goon that has 3 cups and is in the hall of fame?

  • I think #2 should be #1

  • @KWCline91 Maybe but in that game, Karyia came back ad even scored the game winner !

  • @MiseryCrown But the Devils won the Cup!

  • See how they do that. It's either Rafalski or Scott N giving the puck carrier nowhere to go but into the trolly tracks where Scott S is waiting...Deadly Tactics, I miss 90's Hockey.

  • Stevens should have served time for a handful of these ones. Fucking idiot.

  • @TheRealOzzie234 why should he "serve time

    "

  • On the hit on Kris King you can see the modus operandi of the cheap bastard Stevens. Perfect ELBOW. He TRIES to disguise it but it's very clear. ELBOW. ELBOW.

  • If these were in the new NHL he would have been suspended for all 10. People say Stevens never had intent to injure with his hits, then why did 9 out of 10 of these players get injured.

  • last one is the best!

  • some were clean some were dirty... he would be suspended 4 times out of those in the top 10 for sure

  • Nummber 7 was late

  • the hit on karya was a little late

  • If there was a headshot rule in those days (like what's being proposed by the GMs right now), Stevens would have spent 1/2 of his career suspended

  • i dont know

  • Out of all of these top 10 hits. The Paul Kariya is the only blindside hit. The rest would still be considered clean.

  • Scott Stevens....definitely the King of Krunch!!!

  • he is the man at big hits....

  • I respect Scott Stevens as a great player and some of these hits are indeed "clean" - however - in my (somewhat) humble opinion, too many of them he has a teammate covering the player and Stevens is the 3rd man in the play - #6 & 7 are clean - but Lindros and Kozlov and Langkow all were covered by one of Stevens' teammates - I would consider that a bit of headhunting...

not that he was first - the 50's were apparently way more vicious

  • Stevens is number 1 in hitting.

  • followed by Dion Phaneuf at #2

  • Notice how Stevens always liked hitting with his elbow up high.... He never knew how to do a clean hit. For example: look at the hit on Kris King and look where his elbow is right before he hits King. I've always been a fan of big hits in the NHL but I have to say Scott Stevens can't land clean hits.

If you don't agree pause it at 1.23 where he hits Langkow... again elbow up high.

Plus Stevens can't keep his position always hitting ppl when they are already in one on one.

  • Ooops forgot to talk about kariya hit... Again elbow hit. Players are suppose to hit with shoulder and then with the movement your arm raises up. Stevens has already his elbow at the height of his shoulders.

  • 100% agreed!

  • @jklo33 QQ

  • he should try hitting somebody his own size. in this video the only guy he hit who was his size or bigger was lindros. bassen, kariya, kozlov, and langkow are 5'10'', ron francis was like 45 years old in this video. most of these hits aren't clean. he leaves his feet on half of them, hits people who don't have possession the puck, hits people from behind/to the side where they cant see him, charges, and lets his elbows fly

  • very true. like pretty much every hit is when they aren't expecting it at all, and the force impact is doubled cause they're going in the opposite direction as stevens. but whatever, these are still sick lol

  • Thats when the best hits are made, when they can;t see him. and when he hits those guys already in one-on-ones its because he knows he has support, look at every one of em he's got a man back. How he does it is he counts numbers on opposing rushes, a very good skill. Phaneuf is another one who has learned such. Some are dirty, i'll give you that but when you have the chance to lay someone out, you do it whter they're 6'5" or 5'10"

  • @djp1855 And your the idiot kid that ran out to the middle of the street and got hit by a car! QQ

  • yea i know i play hockey

  • The only reason they are hits to the head is because he was taller than everybody and their head was at his shoulder.7 of these hits were perfectly clean except when he left his feet

  • so he was about a foot taller than lindros, thats what your saying?

  • I'm saying Lindros had his head down and his head was right at Stevens' shoulder

    It was a clean hit

  • BTW- When you hit.. Ur suppose to hit to hurt. That's hockey. You want it so your opponent doesn't want to touch the puck because it may hurt! I said hurt, not injure, but sometimes shit happens. 4 simple words. Keep your head up.

  • One of the Greatest Hitters in hockey. BAR NONE!!!!!!! He had a reputation of being a great hitter & if you got caught with your head down. Whose fault is it? The other thing is if he did hit you cheap. He'd answer the bell. Not like the Claude Lemieux's & Ulf Samulesons!

  • Your supposed to hit to hurt.

    That's hockey It's not a pussy sport.

you can also fight in case you didn't Know

  • I can't stand the guy and I would be the first to label him as 'dirty' but those hits are clean. This is the NHL, there is no roughing the passer bullcrap, nobody wears a skirt *unlike the nfl*. You are going to get hit. If was laying out dirty hits there would be a big fight after every hit.

  • i always thought he was just a bit 2 lucky

  • he left his feet on half of those hits

  • Stevens had the uncanny ability not only to injure other players with hits, but also take out players on his team

  • Dahlia Delilah

  • The hit on Lindros pretty much ended his career. He was nothing after that hit (wasn't really much before that, but he never truly recovered from that one)

  • Comment removed

  • why 50% of stevens hit arent clean =-=

  • All you need to know is this: FOUR elbowing minors in 1635 NHL games (also an NHL record for games by a defenseman).

  • Scotty wasn't the biggest But Built like a brick shit house no doubt, i'd say 220-230, would explain why he was so devastating

  • I wouldn't say he was the best physically either, if the team didn't line em up for him, he didn't hit 'em, lousy fighter too.

  • and Stevens wasn't that big, not that tall anyway.

  • He was a decent d-man, won some cups, seemed to only hit people in the face though -- whether they were clean, forearms or charges. I have no idea what he did to get in the Hall of Fame...

  • the reason so many people got injured is because he was so big, so naturally most of his hits were to the head with his shoulder. I don't think he intentionally hit people in the head, but it did happen a lot as you can see. He's still probably the best player physically to lace up:)

  • hahaha 1:43 throught 1:50 is hilarious

  • ive been watching hockey for a year now and i was wondering...were hip checks occur more often in "old hockey"?

  • perfect - perfect my ass! the dude was a head hunter. cheap shot artist. thank god he retired cus he would've kept on knocking out people. borderline psycho.

  • hahaha he always take down his players with them

  • A few borderline hits, the Kariya one was kinda late. Neidermayer or Rafalski goes flyin too in every one of these just about haha.

  • Clean hits my ass...Stevens was a garbage player. Elbows to the head and leaving your feet are not what I call clean.

  • Fuck You, buddy. Come to Jersey and say that! Probably just another good-for-nothing Flyers fan.

  • Hmm but where?!?! I confused...south Jersey is all Flyers fans, north Jersey is all Rangers fans. Since head hits will becomed banned in NHL Stevens entry in hall of fame will have asterisk.

  • All nice hits, i just think the one on Kariya was a bit late. But, really Kariya should be thanking him, he came back and scored.

  • wonder wat would happen if stevens would hit ovechkin like that

  • dude stevens always pushed , he doesnt do clean checks hes such a prick lol. he cant just keep his arms down and hit with the shoulder like a man.

  • You must be a bitch on the ice.

  • wow im really sorry for that, that was my dumbass friend who plays hockey

i actually really like scott, n on the contrary, his hits are clean as hell and amazing

  • no kariya had the puck he had just finished passing it and since he just had the puck the hit is still clean

  • number 2 was dirty because he didnt even have the puck

  • yes they are all clean hits.. late.. elbows.. but all very very clean hits

  • The only one that was dirty was the one on Kariya because it was late. My favorite was the one on Lindros because well.. it's Lindros.

  • all clean hits... only in lindross case there was an elbow

  • Lindros was notorious for skating with his head down. Stevens made him pay. Stevens didn't have to cheap shot anybody to be one of the toughest players ever.

  • agree... now phaneuf is a real successor of stevens its an experience to watch theese players play

  • Im a defenseman and I can tell you forwards, coming across the blueline with your head down (most of his hits are at the blueline) is suicide... hell I've even been hit like that on a rush every now and again and it doesn't hurt, but boy do you ever feel like shit. You get winded and can't breathe. Haha, that's hockey.

  • another defenceman here too, Stevens strength in these is reading his defensive partner. None of those big hits except the one along the boards are him only, its him using his D-partner to effectively force the forward into his check (unless the forward had stayed wide)

  • Agreed...watch each hit, the forward is being distracted by the defensive pairing. It puts the firward right in the train tracks for the best open ice hitter in our lifetime. ouch. Its almost unfair how solid and clean his hits were.

  • He is Legend!

  • Great hits, but notice that for all of them, probably brain damage was caused to each person. Hockey is a brutal game, I love it, but it's so brutal. Imagine, you can give a guy a concussion within the rules of the game.

  • FRANCIS GOT DUMMIED OMG i laughed so hard

  • awesome. he was like a stealth brick wall that jumped in front of you.

  • his hits are legally clean.. its just that he always goes for the head.. that is what meks stevens a dirty player

  • i cant believe how some players kept there heads down when they knew stevens was on the ice, just pure nonsense

  • The Lindros hit should not be on this list at all. It wasnt even a hit, it was an elbow that ended his career.

  • it definitely was a great, clean hit....lindros simply lowered his head coming over the blue line

it is sad though that that single hit ended his great career

  • IMO his elbow came up a little after the hit, but in the clips it looks all shoulder.

  • its funny how stevens usually takes out one of his own players in the process

  • Clean. Devils fans are so absolutely full of shit. This guy was the dirtiest player in hockey PERIOD! Although I did hate Lindros, even as a Flyers fan.

  • Are you an idiot rangers fan? Every player in the NHL (whom actually knows what they are talking about) always say he hit clean, because he did, he was just a vicious hitter. He just lined them up using his own players, its a lost art form only a few could master. How can you actually say he was the dirtiest player ever? Do you even watch hockey? His highest year total for penalty minutes was 124 his first yr with the Devils. Thats not nearly enough to make him a dirty player.

  • "His highest year total for penalty minutes was 124 his first yr with the Devils."

i just wanna tell you that when he played with washington capitals 86-87 he had 283 penalty minutes. if u cant calcuate ill tell you that that is more than 124. 124 pim may be the highest in njd but with 283 pim on 1 season do make him a dirty player.

  • Scott Stevens, one of the best defensemen of all time, no doubt. Nice vid here: good clean incredibly heavy hits!

  • BEAST

  • man none of those were charging he stood tall put his shoulder up and usually glided into them hes basically a wall lol

  • i love stevens.i think the hit on kariya was late but he shouldnt have been admiring his pass

  • nice vid stevens is amazing

  • Scott Stevens is the best hitter of all time. Especially because all his hits were clean. You want to see dirty players? Watch Tootoo.

  • Scott Stevens was amazing. For the people who say that Stevens elbowed the players he hit FUCK YOU, because you don't even know what you are talking about. They are clean hits. If they were not clean hits then why do you think the NHL inducted him into the Hall of Fame? Think about that asswholes.

  • Most of those hits were "charging".

  • Then why were they not called charging penalties? I think you should maybe go read the rule book. You have the wrong idea of what charging is.

  • Most of those were cheap shots. Feet are not allowed to leave the ice and elbows were up on some. His D partner would lead the player right to Stevens and on the Lankow hit Stevens partner even pulled lankows arm down so he couldnt protect himself.Watch his partner lead the opposing player right to Stevens. Kariya took four strides without the puck and got nailed. When its Steve Downie was doing it to other players hes a cheap shot but when Scott was doing it they were clean? Grab a brain.

  • Riiiight. You have no idea what you are talking about and are clearly biased.

  • none were dipshit, shoulder hits, and he didnt jump, he didnt charge, totally clean.

  • Do yo not see that he throws his elbow up in most of his big hits right before he hits them?

  • It's called a follow through. Plenty of people do it. Stevens was almost never called for elbowing penalties in his entire career.

  • damn that guy could hit

  • im a huge flyers fan but i like scott stevens. And those are not cheap shots.

  • after he hit karyia he came back and scored so what now

  • S-T-A-N-L-E-Y C-U-P (that's what happened, in case you stopped watching)

  • physical player, part of hockey u douchebag

  • Looks like you're a cheap shot machine too. Loser.

  • w.e u say warm milk shake.

  • the last one was cheap...i mean he hit lindros head....the others were him standing there people not looking and then running into his shoulder......not his fault they look up and go around him

  • And the body check of the playoffs, if u dont believe me, ask koslov. lol

  • your all just sad that Stevens turned all your favorite players brains into soup! Go Devils, go Stevens!

  • woot yer

  • As good as stevens is at cheapshotting, he is rather poor when dropping the gloves. Not a real man. What makes him any different than Marchment, Kasparitis, McSorely? No there isn't any.

  • stevens sux!

  • notice that Stevens either charges/elbows/latehits on all them. cheapass, stevens just takes runs at people and either backs down or gets owned when players challenge him.

  • Always with intent to injure and look at some of the people he damaged - Lindros, Kozlov and Kariya - not good for the sport.

  • All Star, Hitting Machine, Clean, go play soccer if your too scared of Stevens

  • mavaffanculo !!!

  • stevens! go devils.

  • Ask Kozlov!

  • lol he turns francis' brain in to mush

  • I think that the Karyia hit should have been #1. If you saw that game on T.V. for real it was brutal. Lindros was just a long term thing.

  • "And Eric Lindros gets punished!" lol Gotta love it baby!! Scotty Stevens rules!

  • he isn't leading with his elbow, he's following through with it. when he does that he's simply keeping his balance and also making sure that the guy he hits falls down. there's nothing dirty about it, so you guys might as well get over the fact that they were all clean.

  • go devils!!!!

  • Ur just sad because Stevens killed our your little players!

  • that is not cheap u people cant even do that do it before u omment cheap retards

  • I'm sorry, I love hits just like everyone who watches hockey, but every one of those hits Steven's led with his elbow....directly to the guys head too. I just don't see where there's much talent involved in hitting a guy in the head when he's not looking. On a side note, I'd love to see Stevens still playing and go up against big Boogaard of the Wild.

  • anyone whos ever played hockey knows the best time to hit someone is when their head is down. and he has is arm tucked into his body so its really not elbowing...the victims head is naturaly going to be lower coliding with stevens in the mid body as their head is always looking down at the ice...so its really not intentional. plus he never got a penalty for any one of these 10 hits so that tells u something

  • there is a fine line between a shoulder and elbow in this case. i think 5 of 10 here is more like elbowing, in the head, and comming from aside. that's not tough, it's more like... cheap. look on campbells hit on umberger, he came front - front. not from aside.

  • u may think that some are elbows and even if they are...stevens is gonna level you one way or another when u have ur head down. i never said he was tough...he just knows how to use his body and when to do it...looks up all of those hits individually and see whether or not he got penalies

  • the only reason you find it elbowing is because hes so much bigger, there nothing he can do if his elbow is at the opposing players head, all his hits are clean dispite that fact

  • yeah lindros was just a retard.. but karyia never had his head down. You see him pass it and he gets belted while hes watching his pass. Dont think that was the cleanest

  • if u have ur head down it hockey..ur gonna get fucked up...thats all there is too it

  • hit#7...king to his teamate "where the f*** is my stick man?"

  • most, but not all, of these "10 hits" were waaay too high. I do love freakin' awesome solid body checks NOT chin checks.

  • To you little sissies who want the NHL to be a field hockey league without any hitting...Stevens was a warrior. One of the top 5 best D-men in the last 20 years. His hit on that big wuss lindros was heart warming. That big goon could never stick handle with his head up. Tough shit 88.

  • Scott Stevens was a cheap shot artist. He ruined Lindros' career, and targeted people with their head down. Justice was served when this loser's career too was ended by a concussion. I will forever hate this guy.

  • Scott Stevens was a cheap shot artist. He ruined Lindros' career, and targeted people with their head down. Justice was served when this loser's career too was ended by a concussion. I will forever hate this guy.

  • Scott Stevens is the man. Thats what happens when u play with your head down.

  • Good riddence to this flake. You can take a guy out of play without permanently injuring them. This jerk targeted people focusing on an offensive rush, and used that opportunity to prey on their distratction.

How foolish of them! Instead of focusing on scoring a goal, they should have been worrying about a career-limiting concusion.

    Goof.

  • i will say thought that his hit on kariya was dirty and completly unneccasry but thats whaty makes hockey fun i know im a defensemen who led my league in PM last year

  • my bad that was kozlov i heard wrong

  • as much as i love my wings FEDEROV GOT FUCKED UP

  • Number 10 and number 1 should change place!!

  • the guy was a douchebag. most of hits were on guys that were already getting checked. Pretty sure a saw a couple where 3 Devils were in the picture. Stevens sucked.

  • yea right

  • he knocked all the devils players down too haha

  • lol number one should be like number 11
