All things what he have done.. only an insane would let him alive even that he turned back to the light side. Anakin has been slave his whole life and Luke gave him a chance to freedom and Anakin took the chance and finally he found the peace in his mind.

Yes... but since Vader was much more powerful than the Emperor before the accident (200% as powerful actually), the Emperor had to keep him like this - never really healed, always a little less powerful than himself, or Vader would overthrow him.

i think it would have. The emperor would have continued to do his plotting and empire running. He had the clone army and the full military under his control. Vader was powerful but replaceable, just like a trooper..with lots of power, and a cool lightsaber.
