That's the difference between the Ultimate Aero and Veryron Bugatti. They're both fast, but one is fast like a bat out of hell with a rocket up his ass the other is just meh fast. That and the Aero will get you much more pussy than the Bug.

    -did you know the aero reached it's record breaking speed on a 2.5 mile stretch of public highway..imagine what it would of hit with the other 3.5 miles the veyron had.

    the veyron had 5.5 miles of ehra straight to accel, true, but 2 things to note.

    It needed at least another 1miles again to brake from 400 to the nearest banking.

    Veyron entered ehra banking at 200kmh in 7th gear (4th gear = optimal accel) . That means it needed a third again more distance to hit 400kmh than if it were thru the gears.

    That means the veyron hit topspeed in but 4.5 miles, but it can hit within 3.5miles if the gears are properly utilised.

  • @ASSHOLELA ...with over a 100mph running start out of the corner before the straight. And no, the Veyron did not need a full mile to slow down. According to Bugatti, it can do 250-0 in 1/3 of a mile, so even if it was going to a dead stop at the last minute on a top speed run it wouldn't need a mile. If you watch James May's top speed run on Top Gear, you'll see he exited the initial corner in the proper gear.

  • the ultimate aero would destroy the veyron..it would take down the supersport as well. They just dont have anywhere to run the aero. VW won't ever let them run it at the test track because they don't want to get spanked on their home track. With the SSC "next gen" coming in lighter than the aero and 1200 hp! I have no doubt it would eclipse 290 mph.

  • @davidrubiomartin the ultimate aero acheives the bugatti's power with half the turbos half the cylinders and 1.7 less liters. Saying it's just a muscle car is dumb when jarod shelby actually said he widened the body to increase handling which is something a pure muscle car would never do.

  • @torogami2 The reason the Bugatti has so many cylinders and turbos is so that it can last longer than the ssc dude. They've done full throttle tests on the Bugatti engine where it was doing full power for about three days and had no issues.

  • @orochimaruisugly Are you stupid? There are several SSC Ultimate Aero TT models. The only difference between them and this model is they are lighter in weight because for one they now use rims that are made completely of carbon fiber, They now have a new redesigned, more powerful engine & the front spoiler as well as the headlamps have been redesigned to improve stability at speeds in excess of 170 mph.

  • @orochimaruisugly For the record that's still more power than the Bugatti W16 engine without the 4 turbos. As a matter of a fact GM's concept called the Cadillac sixteen (which is also a 16 cylinder engine) makes 1000HP with no form of forced induction and delivers 20mpg. Still, as impressive as that may sound its not as powerful or as fuel efficient as the Ultimate Aero! Now imagine for a moment a Quad or twin turbo Cadillac sixteen engine. Still think Americans can't build engines?

I'm no fan of the Dodge caliber but after going online & building a Golf S myself I can see why some would choose the slightly more expensive but much more powerful & better equipped Dodge caliber SRT-4 over it. I personally wouldn't choose either but to each his or her own.

  • @orochimaruisugly Okay, I just checked again & AC is standard equipment as well as power windows. but as I said the leather seats are gone so its not as attractive as it once was & the SRT-4 doesn't look all that bad compared to it considering the performance of the SRT4 is better & the fact that it's loaded with leather, navigation a decent sound system & nicer looking wheels.

  • @orochimaruisugly While you're probably correct in this instance there are also GM's products which are very reliable & have low maintenance cost. A better option would be the Chevy Cobalt. I did more checking and the VW golf TDI would also be an excellent choice. Again it doesn't have leather but it's 140hp and over 45mpg numbers are impressive. it's not going to outrun the cobalt or SRT-4 but it makes up for it. on another note VWs are not always reliable. research each model 1st.

  • @bronxboyXXX You must be talking about their passat with the automatic transmission problem. VW never could make a decent automatic gearbox, unlike Mercedes. Maybe I'm just being bias because I got German in me, but I also respect some american/jap cars out there. Ford is in my good books recently. I have just never liked GM since my mom's pontiac montana died at 200,000km; broken head gasket.

    I wish I could be updated with every single car company's reliability :(

  • Let's get this right now, boys. The Ultimate Aero was made ONLY for top speed. Don't believe me? Manual transmission, RWD, it doesn't work on gas station fuel, it's fucking ugly. The Bugatti has AWD (better handling & acceleration), a sequential gear box, a better engine which you can fill at a petrol station, way better breaking and a better suspension system with variable clearance. AND it's a full-on luxury car. The Aero is a few km/h faster without all those things... and you guys are proud?

  • @ryder187mac Oh, I forgot to add that the Aero doesn't have ABS or traction control either. Oh and it came out after the Veyron. I'm assuming Veyron could also build a shitty car that would cost less and go faster, like the Aero, but they took the road not taken. And you guys complain about the price? It's a SUPERcar. Its transmittion costs the same as a Porsche 911.

    That should settle the debate. I'm out. =)

  • @ryder187mac The Ultimate Aero runs off of 91 octane gas which is available at the shittiest of gas stations. I'm not even a fan of American cars but this car is so simple yet it accomplishes the one thing every car maker strives for and emphasizes and thats SPEED. Face it at least once in your lifetime wouldn't you want to go fast? I'm gonna assume if you got an oppurtunity to drive or be driven in the SSC u'd take that oppurtunity in a heartbeat!

    Wrong. The record model runs on Octane 104. Should it use Octane 91, its spec will be much lower and on part of a Dodge Viper. Peace.

  • @Janusha OK, there is no way anybody can say that the American car industry is a failure. Recently, yes they have hit a huge rough patch, but it is not a failed industry. It still makes money, and it still moves customers in the doors and off the lot in a new car. Not just here, but in other countries as well. As for the SSC being a piece of crap...well that just smacks of "fangirl-dom." Do you have any clue how much engineering goes into making a car do 250 mph with relative safety?

  • Only 2-3 months ago Obama had to fork out another billion dollars to clean out 90 factories that GM left when they downsized from 80 000 workers in greater Michigan down to 7000. Chrysler was given away to Fiat for free. Does this sound like success to you? The only reason they are still in business at all is because american patriotism and love for their own brands know no limits. Altho todays GMs are built in Korea and Mexico, never touched by american hands.

  • Since the Ford family were kicked out of Ford decades ago, Ford germany and Ford UK joined and became Ford Europe producing successful cars which are designed, funded, built, marketed and sold completly without US influence. While american Ford makes pickups and vans like the rest of US brands. US-Ford were under government bankruptcy protection just like everyone else in USA. Hell even Harley. US-Ford borrowed some 23 billion dollars before the shit hit the fan so they didnt need more loans.

  • @Janusha I don't know if you missed the part about me saying I don't give a damn for GM. The ZET-R1 is nice, but I don't think I'd pony up 100 grand for a Corvette. I'd also say that the Viper and the Ford GT are internationally competetive, particularly considering their respective price points. If I go to the Dodge dealer with a 100 grand, I walk out with a 600 hp Viper, if I go to the Ferrari dealer with that money I get a boot in the ass and they tell me to take my Monopoly money elsewhere.

  • The price issue... Americans always go there when all other angles are exhausted. Corvettes forexample spend 8 minutes being spraypainted and welded by robots in massive factories. Clearly plastic and aluminium is going to be alot cheaper than carbon and alcantara. And dual clutch milisecond paddleshifts are more expensive than an old stick shift.

  • Bang for the buck is always the final straw to cling on to. While you can easily argue a Viper or Corvette is the most HP for your money, you can just as easily turn that around and say Corvette is most likely the worst quality vehicle in the world for its price.

    And the choice isnt Ferrari or Viper. There are 50-60 sportscars / supercars available today and only 4-5 are not European.

    I guess I'll state the obvious. For $40k I can buy an American made car like a mid level Cadillac. It's not the best, but still pretty nice. What exactly can you buy in Europe for that amount that is of similar quality and/or performance? Nothing.

  • @Janusha I 100% agree that Europe makes some of the finest cars available, but they are priced way beyond what most people can afford. For instance, a BMW M3 sells in Europe for about 136000 EU. With today's exchange rate, that's about $97000 US. Please tell me what car made in Europe can compete with any comparably priced car made in the US? None.

While americans can see the market for villas by the sea, Rolexes and designer shoes for those willing to pay for quality, they are often unable to see any point in quality cars simply because USA doesnt make them. Therefore there are for "snobbish europeans" I recently drove through all of europe for a week. I saw 3 Gm cars. 2 of them were Korean. How far can you walk down the road anywhere in USA without seeing a Euro car. Quality sells.

Corvette Racing has wone GT1 how many times? 2010 Le Mans Winner was a Saleen, #2 was a Ford GT, #3 was an Aston Martin. Panoz has always been competitive. Ford GT, even in FIA GT1 is still competitive. Dodge Viper, need I say more. Prodrive handles all Vipers inbound to Europe. Oreca is synanymous with Viper! 24hr of Le Mans winners x3, SPA x3, FIA GT Champions 5 years, ALMS for two years 1999, 2000

  • @JuergenGDB Cadillac CTSV... albeit it has a corvette Z06 engine beat out numerous other makes while racing in the GT series in the states.. It has alot of development from the boys at GM and Pratt and Miller.... the same guys who built the Corvette that kicked ass for so long in GT1. Some of those Corvettes are still running in the FIA GT1. Price issue... maybe Americans dont feel the neceessity to gouge out your eyeballs for buying their brand.

THE LMS, and ALMS are perfect examples of using production chasis GT2 class for example and their engines. You obviously have little knowledge of American History in regards to vehicles, as America in the 20-40's made some of the most beautiful and yet powerful cars in its time. Europe can stick to being Green BS.. American Muscle cars forever rule! sound better and perform great.
