  • swoop swoop swoop

  • and june anderson for me she is the best.....

  • may be the tempo is slow but this is the mastro.......

  • The tempo of this is too slow.. Anderson has a loverly voice but it is a slow voice.

  • nice.... tendency to be out of tune (sharp).

  • vøll_geìl_sucht_mal_nâch:_geldeasy_ãúf_goøglë

  • Perfect :)

  • 7:26 Renée Fleming!

  • She sounds tight to me.. I really like Ms Anderson and have paid to hear her live and she is a very good singer.. but I am not sold on this.

  • Some of her high notes are spead, and starting to wobble.

  • June Anderson, a great artist of the opera stage, and a wonderful singer who shows us how it's done. What an ageless, golden, powerful voice! Bravissimo!

  • She's in the same rank with M. Price, Callas & Edda Moser (my all time favorite)

  • She is amazing!

  • I have noticed that some replies are just right down unpleasant and have no real relevance.

June anderson is a wonderful singer and sounds superb, just enjoy the music.

  • gay ass music? you must be mad..

  • I've seen better performances... Actually she had to be more agressive in this performance, because this is a kind of a burst of the character...

  • You ignorant slack assed ,brainless maggot!!! Take your wannabe mafia bullshit and stick it in your worthless ear!! Maybe she is not the best -if that is what you are commenting upon but......!!!! So climb back into your mud hole and leave the living world to do just that without you!! BTW Bastard it is not - b-a-s-t-u-r-d !! Go back to watching your cartoons!!!!!!!!

  • Without exception she is the best!!!!!

  • Magnifique!!!!!!!

  • Wow! This is just how Konstanza ought to sound! She is a remarkable Konstanza! June Anderson was a true Mozartian soprano...I love it...but for Martern Aller Arten I also love Edda Moser who does a terrific performance, as well as Maria Callas and also Valerie Masterson

  • Almost agreed with you but Masterson is not a soprano of similar league as the ones you quote. Though I like her, naming her in one breath with Edda Moser, Callas, June Anderson is not quite right

  • True but I just happen to love that Valerie Masterson who was a Gilbert and Sullivan Operetta soprano also sang opera roles. She also sang Gilda in Rigoletto. True, she's not at the level of Edda Moser, Callas and many other true sopranos of opera but I like her for trying! And she didnt produce ugly sounds at all

  • Valerie is Handel is exquiste, saw her both at Covent Garden and ENO, in London quite exquisite.

  • im not a huge masterson fan but her rendition of this is fantastic

  • @AmericanEvita a true mozartian soprano: you mean her hair? lol...

  • @gadella1985 no it´s four her dress jajajaja she sing beutifull

  • as much as I love her high notes her low notes are Amazing!!!

  • I'm totally digging her voice and performance! Her hair? Not so much. LOL!

  • That was amazing! In my opinion, there's nothing quite as emotionally potent as a soprano belting out an aria with every fiber of her soul. Thank you, June Anderson, for being such a wonderful singer!!

  • rayterrell, i'm interested where this lyric-spinto coloratura fach is classified. to my knowledge there are only two classified coloratura fachs, lyrischer koloratursopran and dramatischer koloratursopran. the dramatic coloratura soprano is probably closest to the vocal quality you're describing as those voices are much richer in quality than a lyric coloratura.

  • I'm not aware of a "lyric-spinto coloratura" fach either. Damrau is a dramatic. A really really good one.

  • I would hardly consider Damrau a dramatic coloratura. Her voice is way too lyric. And, she doesn't have nearly the kind of accuracy displayed here. Sutherland, Moser, Deutekom, and Anderson would be much better examples of a true dramatic coloratura.

  • no- it's true that someone's voice can be caegorized as being lyric-spinto coloratura soprano...everyone's voice is not going to be in the same category

  • Who's got a donut?

  • Bravissimo! I can hear every note of the orchestra, especially at the beginning.

  • Loony June. What's she up to these days?

  • whatever456: she still performs around europe, recitals mostly. althoug she is doing norma and lucrezia borgia this year as well.

  • To "plantlover9"-I've seen Diana's version of "Holle" before. And while Diana's F6's are remarkable, and her entire mid range is super clear, her phrasing/timing isn't smooth at all. You can even hear her gasp in between passages! Mee-ouch!

Why didn't the conductor pull her aside about this?

So far, June Anderson seems to be THE owner of Mozart's soprano work. Or maybe... June is a lyric-spinto coloratura, and I am just a sucker for that vocal fach? Who knows?

  • I generally think of opera singing as being little TOO MUCH of a good thing. Like hearing a bunch of pretentious, gargle-yawning voices go overinflated in attempts to sound fuller, higher, and more dramatic than they really are.

However, ever since I heard June in Amadeus, I've been in love with this woman's voice. Her sweetness, volume, smooth vibrato,insane-range, and easy-control transcends operatic snob circles. She just sounds awesome to the average ear! I love it! Thanks for the post!

  • i had a similar opinion, untill i heard diana damrau in die zauberflöte (role of the queen of the night) there are two videos of her sole performance, "die hölle Rache" and "oh zittre nicht"

also check out her version of this aria, it is even more pure than andersons version.

please let me know what you thought of them..

  • Joan hit the notes above the C without scooping, mainly it was in the upper middle where she would scoop. Gruberova scooped many of her E and Ebs, which detracted from the over-all performance. June scoops quite a bit as well.

  • OMG, the scooping is horrific. So sad because I love her voice usually.

  • what is scooping?

  • its when they they start at a lower note then slide up to the actual note

  • youtube keeps taking down my pics

Brava!!!

  • magnifique"! meraviglioso per mozart"!

  • beautiful voice and wonderful line, but I don't feel there is much understanding dramatically.

  • Wonderful performance!

  • Bravo! Quelle voix, quelle technique!

  • Breathtaking!

  • 00:28 and 00:29 flute fastens tempo. 00:38 violonsel detuned note.07:48 syncronization fault. The rest is amazing.

  • Featuring Eric Clapton on the oboe, there =)

  • LMAO!!!!!

  • OMG funny!

  • one word.....woah!!!

  • I love June Anderson's voice but I must say that I liked Joan Sitherland's interpretation of the aria better.

  • She is my favorite soprano in the world!!! The smoothness of her voice is extremely envy-inducing!!!! So refined and beautiful!!!!

  • Most accurate statement made here.

  • Great artists produce great art. Excellent performance.

  • Very good interpretation!!!

  • OMG! i wish mozart was alive to hear this!

  • I'm sure Catarina Cavalieri did just fine at it, with the song being written for her and all... (I bet she actually hit all the trills, too...)

  • 5*****:)

  • I agree

  • I saw June Anderson's debut in New York, and

loved her ever since - one of the great ones!

She is nothing like Dame Joan because she

lacks Joan's warm humanity, and therefore

uses different arts than Joan to deliver

    a magnificent performance. Also, the

natural voice types of June and Joan are nothing alike.

    Love them both!

  • So powerful!

  • Beautiful, controlled voice with a range I'm jealous of. Amazing song.

  • Magnifique.

  • Please no mincing words. Passion allows, prescribes, and will not be restrained by silly spectators!!

  • Great Performance!

  • Very good job from a technical perspective. I have a problem with his wide vibratto, almost to the point of a wobble.

  • Lovely....but please no camparing J.Anderson to Sutherland plese.

  • June 10.......Joan 8.7

  • no evanmylo...

June 10... Joan 7 (at best)

  • There's a reason Joan is called "La Stupenda".

  • She is the modern Joan Sutherland. She resembles her physically too.

  • yea really

  • perfection

  • Comme d'habitude.... Parfaite !

  • Loved hearing this lovely voice! Thanks.

  • Amazing. I admire her ability to remain calm during that demanding aria. She s given one of the best performances of this score.

  • Astounding

  • I love her voice at 7:37 - 7:41. Sounds like a flute, so pretty.

  • OMG ive seen the opera...its great! Go see it. You wont be disappointed.

  • The first time I heard Ms. Anderson sing was in the broadcast of the 1991 Anniversary of the Met. When she began singing, I was totally floored. Her effortless control totally amazed me. I had no idea I had been hearing her in Amadeus (one of my all-time favorite movies). Thanks for posting this.

  • Her voice sounded nothing less than divine in Amadeus. Especially for that little clip of this song.

  • What was she singing in Amadeus?

  • This song, and I believe she sang several others as well. I think she sang the Queen of the Night's 2nd Aria but I'm not sure.

  • And the Kyrie?

  • What talent! What an amazing trill and what class!

  • Precioso!!!!!! fantasticooooo

  • Superb!

  • lovely accurate and easy for her technique suites so well god knows why she has not recorded these roles....cheryl studer has ..ooops but i for got her husband funded a great deal of them...shame....

  • B R A V A ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !

  • Quite good, brava June. Yes the hair had better be an attempt at a period look - I've never seen her wear it this way on any other occasion - looks like Madeleine Kahn in Young Frankenstein!

  • LOL.......I have thought the same thing. She is the best though, huh?

  • Good Singing, but is that period hair, or what? Looks like she's got Mousse AND squirrel in there. I forget was a BITCH of an aria this is to sing until I hear it again.

  • June does a fine job here, considering the complexities of this aria. Her timbre seems compatible with the character of the role, even if her occasional scooping attack detracts. Sutherland's recorded version on London is stunning, and my favorite version. Dame Joan never did perform this role on stage. She withdrew from a scheduled performance at the Met in her mid-fifties, apparently concerned that the high tessitura might cause strain.

  • Really? I hadn't heard of that. And on the subject of June, I agree that the only thing that bugs me is the "scoopy" attacks.

  • Joan was also queen of scoopy attacks. I've a video of Joan, Horne, Pav. Couldn't figure out why it was taking a second for the chords to tune (all three singing). Then realized it was because Joan was scooping everything. Still the best however.
