Well, you put something that is supposed to be in the wild in a cage, what do you expect. These beautiful creatures are meant to be in the ocean. By the way, they are called Orcas, we jukst call them Killer Whales to make it sound more dramatic. We should leave them where they belong... IN THE OCEAN.

He stayed after hours, had no training, didn't work there, didnt have permission, and the whale didnt know him, and he jumped into the tank anyways. Well.....what a stupid fuck. "Killer whales" are actually Orca's which happens to be the largest Dolphin not a Whale.
And the death was the fault of SeaWorld/Humans in general who are making a profit by keeping wild animals in captivity. The animal shouldnt be killed or put down, it should be let back into the wild where it belongs. SeaWorld is accountable not the dead woman or the whale. The whale was doing what is inherent in its nature when it feels threatened.

SeaWorld should be closed, but the fact that there have been a few accidents like these throughout the decades isn't the point. The point is that these are extremely intelligent animals that are being kept in a completely unnatural habitat that makes them act unnatural and become unstable.

Whether people like it or not, some orcas are in captivity. I'm personally not a huge fan of it myself but I'd rather the orcas spend their days with people that care about them instead of just swimming in circles all day with no interaction at all bored out of their minds.

Also Dawn was on the side of the tank in a safe place. Tilikum jumped up and grabbed her by the under arm and pulled her in. Its a horrible Tragedy.. but they say for weeks Tilikum was sick so he was not coming out for shows. Hes a whale..he can't speak...his only way of trying to let someone know something is wrong with him must be this way. Its No One's Fault. Especially Dawn.

I watched Dawn perform the weekend before the incident..My Friend's mom also works at Sea World.. So here is correct Information. When I seen her show.. her ponytail isn't crazy long.. I have videos I can post them if you want to see them.. Also No one gets in the Tank with Tilikum because of prior incidents, his size and strength. His only purpose during the show is at the end to come out and do a big splash..that is it. He does not perform, the trainers don't swim with him.
I totally agree with closing down sea world. things like this were inevitable. there is a save the wildlife part to sea world that i'm okay with, but recently my brother and some friends were at the beach and found a (live) beached dolphin. they called 911, who put them through to sea world who didn't care! sea world was literally 7 min away from this beach and they did not respond. so my brother and his friends moved the dolphin into deeper water hoping that it could swim away.

When someone applies to work for seaworld to be an orca trainer they know the precausions. It was her choice to swim with the whale and take the job not seaworlds. Its almost a 1 and 1000 chance to be attacked by a killer whale. I do not think they will shut down seaworld and i will not vote too. I think they should put the whale in its own enclosure somewhere else not continuing its past job.
if they did that with the whale though theyd probably just put it down. If it doesnt make any money then it is just an expense to them. Its unfortunate but true, even if Seaworld does have some really good programs for rehabilitation etc, they have to have the money to do it. 5. One of the people this whale killed, again in my personal opinion, deserved it. He stayed after hours, had no training, didn't work there, didnt have permission, and the whale didnt know him, and he jumped into the tank anyways. Well.....what a stupid fuck. I dont know about the Canada person though. 6. The whale shouldn't be killed because he killed three people. It's in there nature and the people trained to work with them know and understand the risks.

Ok. Well, 1. It's not the trainers fault. 2. It's not the whales fault. 3. The trainers at SeaWorld and Zoo's that handle wild animals know there is a risk being so close. You need to understand that even thought these whales are in a tank they. are. still. wild. animals. The whale, in my personal opinion, saw her ponytail and mistook it for a fish and just went at it. 4. Her family DOES NOT blame the whale. They also said she died doing what she loved. "Killer whales" are actually Orca's which happens to be the largest Dolphin not a Whale.
And the death was the fault of SeaWorld/Humans in general who are making a profit by keeping wild animals in captivity. The animal shouldnt be killed or put down, it should be let back into the wild where it belongs. SeaWorld is accountable not the dead woman or the whale. The whale was doing what is inherent in its nature when it feels threatened.

It's sad.. but most of these whales have been in these parks most of their lives. they don't know any of the skills they would need to be free. Instinct only goes so far. Shame really. There is no record of a single orca attack in the wild. I think that says enough.
SeaWorld should be closed, but the fact that there have been a few accidents like these throughout the decades isn't the point. The point is that these are extremely intelligent animals that are being kept in a completely unnatural habitat that makes them act unnatural and become unstable.
I think people don't understand how little the difference is between the level of intelligence of some animals and our own.

Dude, Dawn was the nicest person that I have ever talked with. The name of the animal is Orca and "Killer Whale" is more or less a myth...look it up. You say it is not her fault; however, she loved them as do I. I would have loved to have been able to do what she did for a living; she knew the dangers. Also Dawn was on the side of the tank in a safe place. Tilikum jumped up and grabbed her by the under arm and pulled her in. Its a horrible Tragedy.. but they say for weeks Tilikum was sick so he was not coming out for shows. Hes a whale..he can't speak...his only way of trying to let someone know something is wrong with him must be this way. Its No One's Fault. Especially Dawn.

I watched Dawn perform the weekend before the incident..My Friend's mom also works at Sea World.. So here is correct Information. When I seen her show.. her ponytail isn't crazy long.. I have videos I can post them if you want to see them.. Also No one gets in the Tank with Tilikum because of prior incidents, his size and strength. His only purpose during the show is at the end to come out and do a big splash..that is it. He does not perform, the trainers don't swim with him.

I totally agree with closing down sea world. things like this were inevitable. there is a save the wildlife part to sea world that i'm okay with, but recently my brother and some friends were at the beach and found a (live) beached dolphin. they called 911, who put them through to sea world who didn't care! sea world was literally 7 min away from this beach and they did not respond. so my brother and his friends moved the dolphin into deeper water hoping that it could swim away.

I heard that whale killed 2 or 3 times before, so why were they using the same whale that killed before? I know things happen and all but its just a thought. I dont think they should kill the whale or close down seaworld, so im not voting either

When someone applies to work for seaworld to be an orca trainer they know the precausions. It was her choice to swim with the whale and take the job not seaworlds. Its almost a 1 and 1000 chance to be attacked by a killer whale. I do not think they will shut down seaworld and i will not vote too. I think they should put the whale in its own enclosure somewhere else not continuing its past job.

if they did that with the whale though theyd probably just put it down. If it doesnt make any money then it is just an expense to them. Its unfortunate but true, even if Seaworld does have some really good programs for rehabilitation etc, they have to have the money to do it. Money makes the world go round for better or worse is up to each individual, i think it sucks but hey its life

It wasn't the killer whales fault or the girls fault it was naturaly what goes on in nature , the whale thought her pony tail was a food source like a squid, and attacked or it got scared and was trying to protect its self.

especially if like you said its killed before, she made the choice, and took the risk. Just like a person doing any job before you take it you do your homework. Anyway i dont believe they should shut it down theyve done more good than harm, why not go for the places that dont bring anything back like marine world. no ones talking about them, but their standards of who works there is way lower and they are in it JUST to make money.

gives back by having the programs they do and actually taking the opportunity to study the animals as well they have some endangered porpoises there that no one new anything really about until they had them there. Anyway i do agree about the ponytail thing though... if they new it was a problem then they should have made it against their policy, the truth is it is a killer whale. nothing in science is 100% ever, and there are always risks, ones which the woman new about before taking the job

just after they had put in the rides. So if I knew it was stupid as a kid where were the animal rights actavists then... I mean they didnt start complaining until they brought them from the other marine world to replace them... Some of the land animals died too.... and as far as the trainers go well they love their animals but it isnt required to get the job to have even gone to college. it helps but not required, seaworld it is. And they all do it to make money yes, but at least seaworld

good idea, I said with all the vibrations it was likely to drive them stir crazy, I mean hell we are told not to tap on the glass of fish and stuff because of how loud it is and then they want to bring in huge loud machines.... anyway they told me oh they were fine and could handle it, and that it would be too expensive to move the rides to a different area anyway... apparently it wasnt to expensive to replace all the animals that died though was it, I was young when i went to that one, it was

I think they should close marine world down more, seaworld actually has a good rehabilitation program for injured sea life that comes from the wild, they give homes to ones to damaged to go back. But marine world has joined with 6 flags when i was a kid i new it was stupid to put all those rides there in the middle of all the water living animals. When their whales and other animals died a few years ago they just replaced them. when i was little i asked the trainer if they thought it was a

Agree with Molly2u2. Come on, you can't blame a wild animal. And it is the most stupid idea to kill the whale - if you have a brain you know that the whale didn't wanted to kill the lady. They are animals, they don't think like us. So, just stop doing these shows and stop reproducing these animals JUST FOR MONEY. Orcas SHOULD BE IN THE OCEAN, but unfortunatly they can't set Tilikum free at this point (we can take the example of Keiko, the "free willy" whale).

Well fu#( you, and im still for that whole thinning the herd idea, the more you type. I doubt she would want it dead, or she would never have took the job in the first place, she knew the risks, the family is grieving yes, but when things like this happen no one thinks of whether the person lived a fullfilling life or not, so you should chill out, also if the family cant respect her decision its on them, because it was her life and her choice.
