Hidden in the deep recesses of ProTools preferences is something a lot of you seem to be asking for. It is (drum roll please) the "Do it for me now" option. Just click it. That was easy.
@drummerguyhughes Wow, I understand this; TY. Now; can you please tell me how to set up my Strike VirInst.
I know the 'Export Midi' function sets up tracks, but what and how do I handle the new midi tracks? There is no sound. I have tried to assign the INs and OUTs but nothing. What the EFF am I doing(or not doing)?
@drummerguyhughes Thanks for responding; The difference between types of tracks seems to be where I get baffled, that and when and how to set up mixes with assigning midi channels etc. Could you explain, in plain english how to assign midi tracks to channels and/or vice versa?
@twistoffate01 Then do a search for Pro Tools beginners. How complicated is that? Start at the beginning, and go through everything. It takes time, but in the end you'll be happy, and well qualified. maybe. lol
how do i get my vocals or a song fairly loud without distortion or giving the listener a headache?( I do hip hop music)Please respond I've been trying to do this for months (embarrassed to say)....
@stronga1999 make sure your tracks aren't peaking, if they are you can use the trim plugin on the mixer to turn down the signal, it's found under other on the mix window, this is the nondestructive way(doesn't affect the wave file only the signal output) or u can do this the destructive way on the edit window via the audiosuite using the gain plugin. if your master is peaking you can group all your tracks together and turn the faders down together to keep your mix the same.
@Kounty662 also once you do this you should have some headroom (dbs before clipping) on your master track, once you have your headroom your are free to EQ, Compression, enhancements, and a limiter (the limiter is what i believe you were referring to) and this should give you the loud sound you want with out distortion as long as you watch your clipping.
If anyone has a video regarding pre-production mixing I'd greatly appreciate it. I have some decent tracks that sound eh... ok at best once bounced to disk. I'd like some tutorials regarding that. This way I can present artists with full-sounding tracks. This video is useful though. Great stuff. Let me know people. Regards!

when i first made the post i had just bought protools and had a nightmare of a time trying to figure it out, this and many other protools videos are really for people who have went to berkly or fullsale university because they tend to talk over you than give simple instructions, protools is the best progam ive used in a long time, and yes this video does suck along with 90% of the others.
i hate when people who know how to master a song, make such a big deal about "it takes years and practice". DAMN IT I NEED A STEP IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION, NOT SOMEONE WHO KEEPS BABBLING ABOUT EXPERIENCE! this comment is not directed at you lyndapodcast, great tutorial. Unfortunately I did not follow it xD
@sharingan9000 Well those people who say that are right, I though that I could just find some tutorials and learn everything I needed to know, unfortunately this stuff is way more complicated and really is an art form, so its not exactly step by step, The best advise I could give you is to go to school for audio engineering, this is what im doing, as well as apprenticing under some industry professionals, and im still lost lol. But anyway dont expect to learn much from youtube. go to school.
AND EVEN THOUGH THIS VIDEO HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH MIXING OR MASTERING YOU SHOULD LISTEN BECAUSE ALOT OF PEOPLE DONT KNOW HOW TO USE AUX RETURNS OR EVEN SOMETHING AS SIMPLE AS SEND RETURNS SO STOP BITCHIN AND LISTEN
THIS IS JUST HOW I FEEL ABOUT TRYING TO MASTER YOUR SONGS YOURSELF SELF U CANT LEARN HOW TO MASTER BY JUST SOMEBODY TELLING YOU OR WATCHING YOU REALLY HAVE TO HAVE THE EAR TO MASTER AND KNOW FREQ ECT SO I WOULD JUST RECOMMEND SENDING YOUR SONGS TO A PROFESSIONAL TO GET MASTERD BECAUSE WHEN PEOPLE TRY TO DO IT THEM SELF THEY REALLY HURT THE SONG NOT HELP IT BECAUSE OF NOT REALLY KNOWING BUT THATS JUST HOW I FEEL.........AND P.S EVERYTHING HE SAID MAKES SINCE U JUST HAVE TO KNW WHAT HE IS SAYING.
If you clowns ot the whole course you would see that it does explain how to mix and master correctly.. They want you to pay for the more useful information, and not just give it away for free.... Or just take your ass to school and learn how to master or mix your songs..
Angel & Shane you guys should kiss and make up!! lol (im not getting involved it was a joke) anyway. I'm trying to find a hardcore mastering video. Best of luck to you.

This is a very simple exercise, explained very complicated and confusing.
It can be explained so much better when the lecturer isn't trying to sound like a genius
to cut a long story short
1. create a new track but select stereo AUX not audio
2.make the input of the aux bus 1 and 2
3.plugin a reverb ( or delay) on aux track
4. on any recorded audio track in your session, click on the send section ( under the plugin section) and select Bus 1 and 2.
now push faders up on bot aux and snd
