I'm from Tampa and haven't been back since 2005 I see a lot of progress on the part of the interstate from the beginning of the video to about 1:15. Great video.
I miss the people, Tampa is some what liberal and not too religious, and I live in NC now and its pretty bible belty,,but Tampa looks like the crime areas are getting worse.
@MrJesusweeps Actually if you read the Barna Study you will find that Christians have the highest crime and imoral life style while Atheist have the highestst morals and lowest crime rates, and this study was done by a christian group.
ha ha, you got that right. this actually looks pretty narrow and space congested. most freeways in the country are amazingly huge compared to most places in the world
What we're dealing with here is a complete lack of respect for the law! It's nice to see I-4 @ 200 mph or so. And yes being a Floridian, we have some obnoxiously fast and slow drivers consuming the left lanes among other interesting habits.
it is not a disrespect for the law, its just speeding buddy. its not like its criminal activity. and if you lived road like us, youd understand that and youd do the same thing
Damn straight with the statewide epidemic thing with the left lane. I normally have to keep my hand on the horn and flashers constantly. It is like a puzzle weaving around people, safely, of course.
Great vid, and love the choice of music! One of these days, I'd like to watch Smokey and the Bandit for myself(since I sadly never have seen this movie).
BTW, what was roughly the route you took from Atlanta to get down to Florida, coastal Georgia, and South Carolina? I'm presuming you took I-75 south from Atlanta to get there, but just a wee bit curious. Seems like you did a rough I-75, I-275, I-4 to I-95 loop, but I'm sure you may've driven on a few local expressways beyond what I mentioned.
The last time I was in the Tampa-Orlando area, there was a hell of a lot of construction. Most of the construction seems complete, by seeing this video.
This looks like a really nice drive. Too bad the weather didn't cooperate!
I enjoyed the choice of music too. The original Smokey and the Bandit is probably my favorite "driving" movie. Oh, and Frog was quite the hottie back in the day....
Thanks! I could not make it any longer even if I wanted to as the rains came in too heavy to film, I had to play the hand Mother Nature dealt me on this one.
what did you run over at 1:27

Only thing I miss about Tampa is family, friends, and seeing the water once in a while driving accross the bridges.

@Clemburke1111 Crime tends to run rampant in those somewhat liberal areas you seem to love.

Great video man! Don't forget the other stars of that movie: the '77 Black Trans Am and Sheriff Buford T. Justice!

Sally Field later admitted to being an anorexic in that movie.

RIP Jerry Reed, but Sally Field was anorexic at the time.

This area has changed greatly in 10 years since I lived there.
BTW, I think Exit 6 was Orient Rd.
Exit 1 was 20 and 22nd Street.
Columbus Drive exited on the left? That's new!
The construction has been going on for years.
and it's about time Malfunction Junction was done.

To cross and connect central Florida with the coastal areas.

It doesn't cross any state borders.
