I think they are mostly hideous. There is a point where they might just not be needed. On the other hand the mideast is ideal for new architecture to complement the mosques.
@MrLordmoviemaker burj dubai is tallest, who's disagreeing?? but the kingdom tower will be tallest when completed. GOSH what kind of users have youtube allowed?? :O, what's wrong with you??? go to a mental hospital!!
@MrLordmoviemaker which burj? the cancelled one or the completed one? al burj (nakheel tower) or burj khalifa? burj khalifa is the tallest completed structure ever made, no doubt.
@rb7magnetico sometime in 2012, however with the economy and the difficulty of this project, who knows how it might go. soil testing was done in 08, then they cut the size of it by about 500m. im sure they have a green light for building
@dimskees For a mile high tower to be completed in 5 years just doesn't seem viable with the current off the shelf technology. Now if it is going to 500m then that would be easier to complete
@JosephStarVideos it depends on what the use of the buildings are for. hotels and condominiums is actually practical. their economy will benefit greatly from tourism, but in do time. but then again, saying these buildings are wastes of space and material is like saying the empire state building and world trade center are wastes of space too.
I wonder why it is that these monstrous buildings are being planned in the middle east. Why not China (which certainly could use some of them), Korea (a very developed nation in some terms) or even the US or parts of europe? All of these are planned for the mideast. Seems clumped together somehow, like there is a master plan.
@the81stviewer because they have the space around it to create a mega project. guess why chicago spire didnt go through? b/c the sale of the space in the building doesntcome close to the millions spent on this project. in burj dubai case, the tower added significance to the region, popularity (mission impossible?) and price for land around it. so even if burj dubai cost over a billion, the city got its money worth. plus, those arabs have the real cash, and china is going cheap. i hope i helped
@tejasvi132 the first one is underconstruction here in jeddah but there have been a change in the design yet it's pretty much the same........abt the other two i dnt know.........
@gentlelovingmanUSA i m not out of my mind. the design of the tallest is changed now but yet very much same, height is also i think changed but yet it is the tallest of all other
It's great, but I see no point on such enormous buildings(well, besides being impressive) right now, maybe later on in the future when global economy becomes more stable, with less bubble bursts, and also, what is gonna be in those buildings.
"...قال فأخبرني عن الساعة قال ما المسؤول عنها بأعلم من السائل قال فأخبرني عن أماراتها قال أن تلد الأمة ربتها وأن ترى الحفاة العراة العالة رعاء الشاة يتطاولون في البنيان..."
I see. I didn't know the Mile High Tower/ Kingdom Tower was already under construction. It may not remain 'the talest under construction' for very long, however, as work on the Nakheel Tower is scheduled to begin in Jan 2010.
well they has ""'Just plans""""". mile high tower is now under construction!!!!! and currently world's tallest tower under construction. burj Dubai isn't tallest tower now if you focus only on under construction towers. Jeddah owns the honor now of being home to tallest under construction tower.
If I'm not mistaken, the Mile-High Tower project has been scaled down, so that the Tower will now be only about 1 km tall, not 1 mile (1.6 km) - if it's built at all, that is - and, for this reason, it's been renamed the 'Kingdom Tower'. So, as things stand, the tallest projected building would be the Nakheel Tower, at around 1.4 km.
LOL..CrazyAccyPaki, stop fooling urself..precisely 1 mile is 1609.344m / 5280 feet..get ur own facts right b4 fixing other people's fact..the only thing u've done was bringing shame to urself...n im ROFL literally!..HAHA..how i enjoy laughing.. :-p
