i am planning on making a mold for casting airsoft gun bodys and how hard dose that evercast become when it is dry is it flexible or like a hard none flixble plastic sorta thing
Dam, smart, crafty, cute and an animal lover. I am in love, LOL. BTW wonderful vids. I like the way you flowed through the videos in a very casual way. Easy watching. It does not hurt that we are forced to stare at your boobs the hole time. I would prefer to have the camera back further so we can see your face as well.
I really feel inspired to make these myself and in fact I'm already in the process. Just wondering though, would it work if I put the resins near a heat source for them to harden during the winter?
Does anyone know the resin(s) ingredients for hard and durable plastic such that the end product is hard (or durable) enough to be used as a hydraulic press load piston head?
Also is epoxy resin (finished) product hard, durable or tough enough to withstand heavy stress?
Great Video ! I have my easy cast sitting on my desk here and after I get my gloves tomorrow, I'll be a casting. I have so many questions that I can't find the answers for but this video helps alot. I wish you had showed the finished product. Great costumes btw !
Hi. I'm looking to do a rotational mould with something of this type. The idea is to produce a bottle prototype from two halves of a mould. Leaving the inside hollow. Is there any resin like this that will cure in minutes rather than hours? Thanks
I'm fairly certain that the styrene monomers and MEKP hardeners are what give resins their killer odors--both of which are only present in polyester and vinylester systems. I'm not 100% sure, but I think that epoxy systems may be safely used without an organic respirator. I imagine that epoxies for hobby projects, especially, would tend to be safer.
No problem. I know Tap Plastics sells a special type of resin that is more self-leveling then the stuff I used here. I think it is called ClearCoat or something to that effect. Nonetheless it is designed to just be a varnish type finish for things. Good luck!
A high pour creates bubbles, so pour close tothe mold (a fooodie knows about airation :P) I don't know much about casting but I know how to reduce bubbles!
Great video, thanks for sharing. One question, how do you clean the bottles you use to stir the resin in? Can it be cleaned, or do you just throw them out?
You never really 'clean' out the bottles you mix the resin in. You can however, wipe out the excess so there is nothing left but a very, very thin film of resin in the container. I usually use paper towels to wipe it out and just let the bottle dry on its own. Of course you can always use disposable cups/bottles to mix your resin in.

I'm going to be making a 3 large gems made of resin for my Sakura-Hime cosplay, so this is EXTREMELY helpful.
I'm still unsure as to how I'm going to get the mold just right for the gem, though. Do you reccommend any tutorials on making molds FOR the resin?
Once again, great GREAT great wal-through :)

Where's your respirator yo? Plastics and resins cause cancer... Ever wonder what killed Eva Hess? Just saying...

few questions, how heavy is this stuff?
also to clarify steps;
1.get mold
2.spray mold with "releasing stuff"
3.mix resin, hardener, and dye
4.Pour
5.set for 24-48 hours in warm room.
correct?

If you pour in a thin stream high up, it will reduce bubbles by a lot, and that's what I was trying to say. Sorry about that. ^^;
For small items it is pretty light, but if you start making large casts it can get pretty heavy fast.
Yup that is a very simplified version!
Good luck!
