Great Video I've order one myself and can't wait to see what it can do! The only question remain is the fuel can it be run on burning alcohol or naphta? Cheer!
@bakupcpu - 8r's are designed for "Coleman" fuel, a.k.a. "white gas". The burner assembly is similar to that of the SVEA123. They will also function with unleaded fuel but white gas is the only fuel I would use as it is more refined and without additives. The Optimus 111 (not the 111"B") will burn kero, white gas, or alcohol.
@foresterscott01 This is not true. I have an 8r and it clearly states on the label "for gasoline" as do the instructions. If you look around there are other videos that show this as well. There is a sticker on the inside lid that says "No automotive fuel permitted in (USA and Canada)" Gas burns fine in these, unleaded burns too, but it's sooty.
@cuthulu68 You are misunderstanding my comments. White gas is in fact 'gasoline', only without fuel additives (or 10% ethanol as most all auto fuel is in the U.S. now). Unleaded auto fuel, especially at higher altitudes, is not recommended as it not as pure as white gas and may cause clogging. The only point I'm trying to make is that the cleaner the fuel the better the stove will perform.
I have the old optimus 8R, running on gasoline now. Can I use denatured alcohol instead??
