There is much to say of a man like this. I like what he said about emptying yourself of yourself to let the things of God in. He chose to live in a trailer in New Mexico. People that spent time with him said that hearing him teach and pray was like drinking water when you are very thursty. He did not follow a denomination or doctrin. He let the holy spirit guide him. Such a wonderful role model. For me he teaches that so much gets in the way of myself and God if I let it. Focus on God!!!!!
thank u for sharing your story on Rich Mullins. To me, he was like a modern day John The Baptist--was not of this world; suffered depression, and anomy. BUT SOUGHT after GOD and LOVED GOD
Thank you for sharing this! I watch with both joy ... and sadness ... in my heart. What a remarkable man Rich Mullins was. How many of us did he help pull from darkness? Oh, and the smiles he put on Father God's face! Halleluyah!
@llamadrama26 Me too. Can you imagine what heaven has been like for Rich, getting to really know all of the lives that he affected in a short almost 42 years on earth?! He was an arrow to God for me and still is. I can't wait to hug his neck when i get to heaven!
The cool thing about Rich was that he wasn't perfect and he knew it - how many people are scared away from faith in God, thin
I've always liked this song thought it is one of Rich's most "irregular" songs. I'm surprised his Nashville based record label would ever agree to make a music video for such a "weird" song given it never had a chance to make it big as a radio hit given how unusual it is. But it's quite powerful. I think Rich borrowed this Title from an old Quaker hymn that I believe Enya covered on her Shepherd moons disc.
I think Rich was brought up in a Quaker community. Thank you eden512 for this video! It is awesome! yes, unusual but Rich's work never ceases to surprise and move me. This vid really brings out the annointing I feel from this song.
You may be thinking of a Shaker song. Initially, Quakers did not sing in their meetings at all. They unsually practice silence during worship unless someone is moved to speak. Richard had a Quaker music teacher as a child who taught him to be sure the focus was on God when he sang, not on himself. As I recall, Richard attended Quaker meetings until he was about six, then he attended a Church of Christ where hymn singing was emphasized. The Quaker disciplines still stuck with him, though.
I was there during the filming of this video. It was the summer of 1985 in a small village outside of Guatemala City, up in the mountains a bit. Rich had come to work with us for a few days on a Teen Mania summer trip. We spent several days with him and also filmed another video in the dump in Guatemala City. It was a great time and he was a great man!
If only I had come to know about the man prior to his death. He has mentored me in an indirect way and modeled for me how to love and follow Jesus past the sacrifice and into eternity. Thank you Lord for Rich, pray for us!
There will never be another Rich Mullins, he was a one of a kind. Someone who really lived the walk, he picked up the cross and followed Jesus, and left all earthly things behind... A true inspiration!
Your comment on Rich Mullins was so beautiful and so well said. He did leave earthly things behind--while living here, he was not of this world; he was not connected to material things...yes, a great man.
Wow, what a great surprise to see this video! So good to see Rich with his brothers and sisters in Christ praising the Lord he loved so much. Thought this video was long-lost. Thanks so much for uploading it!

This comment has received too many negative votes show
Rich was a great man and all, but this cover is atrocious. If anything, it actually sounds like something that could be heard in a pagan ritual.
The hymn itself is beautiful though, and Enya did a great job covering it.

I was on this trip too! Who are you???
Do you remember which video was filmed in the dump? I was trying to find that one and couldn't remember what song it was.
Are you in this video? You can barely see me but I'm behind the man with the drum. :)

Peter Gabriel or Phil Collins? If you mean the former, I definitely agree. I've never heard him like this.
